Your dogs are more than welcome to relax on the couch or roam whenever they choose.

I first had her pet sit for a full weekend, while I was out of town, and she took my dog for several walks, followed my food instructions to the T, and calmed my anxious dog down overnight, when he was stressed to not be at home.
