“Paula was fantastic from the beginning. Her communication is great. She’s kind and responsive and made me feel very confident that my pets would be well cared for. I have a diabetic cat who needs medicine, and Paula’s experience caring for pets with other medical conditions was reassuring. She sent lots of photos and I could tell they were well loved while I was away.”

“Lexi watched my three pets, including an older special needs cat. Her communication was wonderful - great question, photos and updates, and just a cheerful confidence that helped me feel very comfortable leaving them in her care. They and the house were in great shape when I returned and I could tell the cats and dog were well cared for. Thank you so much!”

“Absolutely super amazing and professional! I was scrambling to find someone last minute and not only did she come out right away to go over all the pet needs but she came each day on time and went above and beyond just feeding the cat! Alanna played with Yoda cat and did the litter box, vacuum the kitty litter mess each day and fed the stray cat outside for me! She responds right away and sends photos & updates after each visit. Super reliable, trustworthy and one of the nicest woman I’ve ever met! So happy to have her for future pet sitting!”

“I recommend James highly. James took phenomenal care of our 2 dogs (1 who is blind) and shy cat. James regularly kept in touch, followed our directions well, and left our home very tidy. James is excellent!”

“Oona watched our 2 chihuahuas and did an excellent job. She cared for our elderly dog and gave him his medicine. She kept us updated during our vacation and even tidied up the house before she left. We would definitely work with Oona again!”

About: I currently own an amazing certified Good Boy Austalian Cattle Dog and two snuggly cats. I have have always owned at least one pet, both cats and dogs since I was little. I have done a decent amount of pet sitting for neighbors and friends. I have even had to give oral meds to one dog I dog sat. If you have any questions, please ask! Dogs will always get at least a 15 minutes walk because my dog usually needs a longer one. I sometimes give my cats and dog breakfast and then usually give the dog a quick 15 walk in the morning before leaving for work at 7:30 am. I get back home around 3:00 pm and usually give my dog his actual long walk between 40 and 70 minutes depending on weather. I feed the animals and then have dinner and usually just relax and snuggle on the couch with at least one of the fur kids. I fit in other cleaning and what not in there but I always make it a point to walk my doggo and make sure they get snuggles since I am gone for a good portion of the day. I have room for a crate for a crate trained dog. I have a moderately sized backyard that is well fenced in. My dog is a counter surfer so we have baby gates for both the kitchen and the extra bedroom. The extra bedroom serves as the cat room so the cats have a dedicated space. Stuff can be adjusted if you have a cat not used to dogs, so they can have that entire room or vice versa our cats can go in there for a dog that is not cat friendly. We only live five minutes from Marbletown Animal Hospital of any emergencies arise needing urgent care if your vet is not available.

“Grateful to Elisha for a long stretch watching our very sensitive Cavalier. When we arrived home, Millie seemed calm, healthy and well cared for. While we were away, Elisha shared picks of Millie and stayed on top of her daily routine. It takes the stress away when you have someone who is reliable and conscientious. Will definitely book Elisha again.”

“Vanessa was by far the best sitter we’ve had in nearly ten years. She went above and beyond. She took pebbles on hikes and swims and dog parks, kept her super clean and managed her food and meds very well. We returned in over a week to find pebbles thriving. We would call on Vanessa in a heart beat going forward whenever we need someone to care for our pup.”

About: I have experience taking care of dogs and cats for families and friends, I know how to read body language and know when I've crossed boundaries. I always have patience for animals. I'm working part time so I have a lot of time available to work with pets, check in on them, and stay with them if needed. I am totally available for overnights, I'm a night owl so I can always check in with a pet and take care of them.

About: I’ve taken care of dogs my whole life, I have owned and cared for multiple breeds of dogs and cats, big and small, and been a pet sitter for friends and family on and off for the last 10 years. As a result of my experience as a pet parent and sitter I am very comfortable with most breeds. I also have limited experience training full grown dogs as well as puppies. I am available for walks, check-ins, or pet sitting every day. I am also available for boarding on a case by case basis. My work schedule allows me to be present for most of the day, so I can remain attentive and take plenty of walk and play breaks. During the times that I am gone I am able to crate them if that is your preference or they can have free access to the main part of the house and I will check in on them regularly through the doggie cams. I am able to dog sit in your home as well as in my own home, which has a large amount of indoor space that they can roam around in, as well as a partially fenced back yard that they can play in on a long leash with my supervision. I have plenty of time for walks and play breaks during the day. And during the few hours a day that I am out of the house, they can be crated, or they can roam around the main part of the house. I check in on them every half hour through the doggy cams set up in the house. I am comfortable walking, feeding, and if necessary, providing medication on the schedule and in the manner that you prefer.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Cragsmoor
Paula did a terrific job house-sitting for our cat. We were impressed by her as early as the initial meet-and-greet. She was totally present and familiar with cat behavior to the point that Louis made an appearance within 20 minutes of her arrival. Communication during the house-sit was excellent. We could tell from the daily photos that Louis was having a great time. Paula also went above and beyond by shoveling necessary paths during the very significant snowstorm on Jan. 25. We were totally comfortable with her in charge and have already re-booked her for another stay.

As of October 2026, there are 528 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Cragsmoor. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Cragsmoor walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Cragsmoor maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cragsmoor choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
