“Paula is the absolute best!! Our dogs clearly loved her and had a wonderful time. She sends amazing photos and we felt so comfortable with her watching our dogs. You can tell she loves animals and is very professional!”

“Lexi watched my three pets, including an older special needs cat. Her communication was wonderful - great question, photos and updates, and just a cheerful confidence that helped me feel very comfortable leaving them in her care. They and the house were in great shape when I returned and I could tell the cats and dog were well cared for. Thank you so much!”

“This is my first time using Rover. Vicki came for a Meet & Greet . She was lovely and confident. I booked an overnight just to be sure it was a good fit as I’m leaving out of country for 11 days. Vicky was great with my dogs who are older and one is anxious and pretty blind. They also require heart meds and some assistance. I would recommend her, she communicated very well. My house was just as I left it which I appreciate. I’m pleased to find someone I feel comfortable leaving my pups with 🙌”

About: I’ve had and cared for my own dogs for the past 6 years and have loved dogs for as long as I can remember. Growing up around dogs taught me how important patience, consistency, and attention are to making pets feel safe and comfortable. I currently have a flexible schedule and am available most days, which allows me to give pets plenty of attention, playtime, walks, and care throughout the day. I’m happy to work with your routine and make sure your dog feels comfortable, cared for, and stays on schedule while you’re away. Communication is important to me, and I’ll do my best to be available whenever you need dependable pet care. Your pet’s comfort and safety will always come first. I take time to learn each dog’s routine, personality, and preferences so they feel relaxed and secure. I’ll follow feeding schedules, walking routines, and any instructions carefully while giving them attention, patience, and lots of care. I treat every pet like I would my own and aim to create a calm, safe, and positive environment.
About: From overnight stays and walks to playtime and cuddles, family and friends have entrusted me with the care of their fur baby. Being able to work with cats and dogs on a daily basis as a veterinary assistant continues to help me accumulate various skills to work with animals of all temperaments and ages! I’m currently working part time so I’d have flexible time to spend with your precious pups whether during the week or during the weekend ! Pups are off if their routine is off so if you have a specific schedule or way of doing things I can assure you I will stick to the game plan.

“Incredible! Communicative through the entire stay and my apartment is cleaner than i left it which is so Incredibly nice of her! I'm so pleased, and though this was a one-off/unlikely to need a dog sitter again type of vacation, I would without a doubt use Rose again if needed.”

About: I’ve had animals my whole life growing up and currently have my own pets now. I’ve worked in an animal hospital as a Vet tech assistant/kennel manager for a few years. I then after that worked for my local shelter for about 10 years as a kennel worker and I was head of our dog behavioral team. I know how to read dog body language, and give meds if need be. I am a balance dog trainer that makes her own schedule, I work around my pet setting schedule! I'm currently a dog trainer and make my own schedule, I can provide pet sitting when ever needed because I can make my schedule around when I need to pet sit! I would treat my client’s pets like they were one of my own pets. I would do what ever I can to make your animals feel comfortable while you are gone.
About: I have grown up with dogs my whole life. I take care of my dog and other dogs that I get asked to do so I can do Monday- Sunday at any time of the day. I take care of my dog when my grandparents are away with my mom. When needed I feed my dog and give him water when he is out of water When I dog sit my aunts dog when her and her family are away. I feed him on the morning and let him out. Play with my aunts dog. Then feed him at night. I also play with him whenever I go let him back out. I stayed the night for a couple nights
“Jasmine was awesome! She kept us updated on how our dogs were doing and sent great photos. She was professional and left my house as she found it. Definitely going to book her again!”

“Abbey stayed with Lambert for a week in our house and took care of everything. Abbey is *super* dependable, great communications, and an excellent caretaker for the cat and the house. We love having Abbey and we highly recommend working with her!”

“Sofia was wonderful! She was always responsive, and took such wonderful care of the dogs. They loved her and were in great hands. She left the house in great shape and was a super respectful guest. Would highly recommend using Sofia!”

“We could not be happier with Jade! She came to our rescue when a kennel reservation fell through and stayed in our home for four nights with our eight month old Samoyed puppy and three year old bengal cat while we traveled out of state to a family wedding. Jade exudes an immense amount of compassion and sensitivity, as well as the utmost professionalism. Her communication is awesome, and her experience/knowledge as a petsitter and caretaker of animals really shows. She took remarkable care of our beloved cat and dog, and just as importantly she cared beautifully for our house while we were away. This was our first time working with a pet sitter, and actually opening our home to someone while we weren’t there, which was totally nerve-wracking! We are so grateful that Jade was the person we connected with.”

“Preston watched my 2.5 year old sheepadoodle Archie for just under 2 weeks while I was traveling. I highly recommend Preston to anyone who needs a house sitter. He was great with Archie and provided me updates as needed and was easy to get a hold of. He even began training Archie on some different skills. He even left my house cleaner than when I left it. Preston was a great choice for house sitting and I will definitely try to use him again if I ever need someone to watch my pup and house!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Awosting walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Awosting maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Awosting choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Awosting. On Rover:
- 98% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
