“Kara was great with Mike & Gwladys, they were very well cared for. She was great at communicating and â good sport about Gwladys being a bit sassy. We would definitely use her again.”

“Nancy was the best house and dog sitter ever! My two dogs love her and already miss her. I will definitely book Nancy again soon for my next trip. The house was spotless when I got back. The dogs were happy and only disappointed when Nancy had to leave.”

“Bailey was amazing with our dog, Murphy! He stayed with him for 4 nights and sent daily pictures and updates. We arrived home and the house was cleaner than we left it! Highly recommend!”

“Hailey is wonderful and our dogs absolutely love her. She is so easy to communicate with and sends the best pictures to keep us updated on the pups. She takes great care of our dogs and our house.”

About: I’ve taken care of all kinds of animals since I was a kid, but dogs were always my forte. I’ve also been volunteering at my local SPCA shelter for added experience and love working with all the dogs. I also have experience working at a kennel and caring for the dogs. I am currently working overnight shifts so I will have ample time to spend time with your dogs during the day! I am available everyday and am very flexible and can accommodate most, if not all, requests:) I currently live in a complex that has plenty of outdoor space and fields for your dog to get an abundance of walks, playtime, and exercise
“Debra did a Great job with our Oscar, she made me feel at ease leaving him in her care at our house. Also leaving him for the 1st time after being diagnosed with diabetes, Debra did an awesome job with his injections, his routine and text updates and photos. Definitely will be asking for her again.”

About: I have had more than 15 years experience taking care of dogs, cats, and bunnies. I enjoy taking care of animals because they are just like babies, they need extra love and attention because they’re not always able to communicate their needs. So one of my greatest passions is making sure that every animal I interact with in any way feels loved, safe and happy! I work from home so my schedule is very flexible. I’m available for same day visits or walks whenever needed. I can also come for multiple visits, give them any oral medications and anything else that may be helpful to you and your fur baby. I will be happy to care for your fur babies where they are most comfortable in their own home/environment. I’m very communicative so you will always know how your pets are doing and you will always be able to reach me at any time.
“Tom sacrificed 2 holidays to take care of my dog. Never has anyone taken such good care of my house and pet. He was able to get my dog to walk 3-4 miles a day and Sampson was sad when Tom left. A true caregiver and passionate about his work and animals”

“John was an excellent sitter! He took great care of the dogs, walks, photos and the house. He comes highly recommended and I will definitely use his services again! Do not hesitate in reaching out to him for your pets, he will not disappoint!”

“Katie was absolutely incredible and I truly cannot recommend her enough!! From the very start, I could tell Luigi felt comfortable with her which says EVERYTHING!! The moment she got out of her car to greet us, he immediately took to her and that is not something he does with everyone. She provided so many updates and pictures which gave me so much peace of mind while we were away. I never once had to wonder how he was doing. One of the biggest things that stood out to me was her honesty. Instead of just saying everything was perfect (which other sitters have said while I knew he wasn’t perfectly fine), she shared that Luigi definitely missed us. I appreciated that more than anything because it showed how in tune she was with him. Even better, she didn’t just leave it at that. She actively worked to engage him and get him moving which is so important for a dog’s mental well being. She took him on walks, paid close attention to his needs, and truly treated him like her own. You can tell Katie genuinely cares and goes above and beyond. Luigi and I are both so grateful to have found her!!!”

“Jes loves all animals, and that comes through in everything she does. She watched our two dogs for a long weekend. Our dogs loved her from the first meeting, and when we met to return keys after, they mobbed her and wouldn't leave her side - not our side - hers. She left our house in perfect condition after the stay. You couldn't ask for more from a sitter than Jes provided. 5 Stars are not enough!!!”
“Jennifer was terrific. Great attention to detail and sent plenty of pictures which always makes us feel better.I highly recommend her!!!! Cici said she pet her a lot and took her on nice walks. We look forward to our next trip and using Rover and Jennifer”

About: I have taken care of animals, big & small since I was a little girl. I have always been the first contact for friends and family that need someone to care for their animals while they’re away! I am available anytime - I am an early riser and late time caregiver. I understand schedules can be rough & I want to give peace of mind! My rescue dog is animal aggressive, so my baby cannot be around others. I would have to come to your home…Dog walking, playing in the yard, feeding, all the attention & snuggles are included!
“If you are going out of town and want the absolute best dog sitter by a landslide - pick Eni. We went out of town for 4 nights and she took photos and chatted with us multiple times a day to check in. I cannot say enough, honestly. I have never felt so assured and confident that everything with my dog and home would be in fantastic hands. Will book her again every time.”

“I can’t thank Jacqueline enough for the amazing care she gave my dog. From the moment she took care of her, I could tell how loving, caring, and attentive she was. She treated my dog like her own and made sure she felt comfortable, happy, and well cared for. It gave me such peace of mind knowing she was in such good hands. Jacqueline was wonderful with her, and I truly appreciate all the love, patience, and attention she gave her. I would absolutely recommend Jacqueline to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and caring to take care of their pets. ❤️🐾”

“My dogs loved Jenelle and so did we! We could tell from the interactions that they were in very capable and loving hands. Throughout the stay, Jenelle sent numerous photos (and texts) of her playing, exercising and cuddling with both Ivy and Harley We left detailed instructions for the care of our house and pets which she followed to our greatest satisfaction. Our house was spotless when we returned and both dogs were happy and content We have finally met a very responsible and affectionate young lady that we can entrust with the care of our home and pets to. We plan on hiring Jenelle in the future and highly recommend her services. When it comes to trusting the care of both home and pets to someone and having peace of mind in doing so, we have been truly blessed with Jenelle. 🙂”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of September 2026, there are 844 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Cleveland. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Cleveland walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Cleveland maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cleveland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Cleveland. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 99% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
