Elizabeth went above and beyond for my senior cat, Calvin! She took extra care to try and make him comfortable with her presence, and although he was too shy to come say hello I was greatly reassured by how thorough her visits and updates were. Great experience, would definitely book again.

About: I’ve worked with dogs of all sizes at a pet care facility for over 2 years. I also have an animal science degree and have worked with many animals especially cats, dogs, and horses. l would love to get to know your furry friend! I’m a recent college graduate currently taking a gap year before graduate school. This means I have plenty of time to follow your schedule, and take care of your furry friends. I have experience giving pilled medications, and have also administered insulin for a diabetic dog. I can prepare raw food or kibble with any supplements or toppers you’d like. Additionally, I love to teach dogs new fun tricks and playing fetch in the yard.

This was our first time using Kellianne to take care of our cat, Ollie. We were so pleased! Kellianne was reliable, prompt, thorough and extremely caring! She sent us pictures of Ollie, too, and provided excellent feedback! We will most definitely use Kellianne again and would highly recommend her to care for your pets! If I could give her 10 stars, I would!!!

Eric was very communicative and made sure to share photos and play with my cats while I was gone. Gave me a lot of peace of mind knowing he was stopping by at the times I requested to give them attention, especially since it was a bit out of his way.

About: Seven years fostering dogs for three rescue organizations and one year as a Senior Yard Manager at a dog daycare, supervising care, behavior, and safety. have seven years of experience fostering dogs for three different rescue organizations and one year of experience as a Senior Yard Manager at a dog daycare, supervising dog groups, ensuring safety, and supporting daily operations. Although I don't have a fenced yard, I make sure every dog gets plenty of exercise through long neighborhood walks, active playtime, and lots of attention. Dogs are welcome on my furniture, including the bed and couch, and they can sleep in my bed or in a crate based on your preferences. I also enjoy making stuffed Kongs as an evening treat or enrichment activity if you'd like your dog to have one.

About: I've taken care of all kinds of dogs and cats since I was in middle school! My beloved dog, Marley, passed a few years ago and I've taken to spending time at shelters and helping friends and family with their furry friends. I love to make pets feel loved and owners feel at-ease. I work full-time, so I'll be around after 4:30 pm on weekdays. On weekends, I am typically around after noon! I work close-by, so I can always stop by on my lunch break. I can crate dogs if needed, and I am also always happy to do whatever is comfortable for your fur baby at your (and their!) home.

We can not say enough how much we appreciate Joseph. He was able to get our anxious dog to fully accept him as a friend when 99.9% of people can’t touch her. She was giving him paw and was super excited to see him! The other amazing part is one of our cats came out to see him and let Joseph pet her! No one believes we have this cat since she hides from EVERYONE! Joseph is extremely reliable and wonderful with all our pets. People would be crazy not to hire him to take care of their pets.

About: I’ve pet sat for neighbors’ dogs of all ages since high school, and I’m comfortable with daily walks, feeding, playtime, and cleaning up waste. I’m also very routine-focused—I stick closely to your dog’s schedule so they feel safe and comfortable while you’re away. I grew up with a mutt who recently passed, so I understand how important it is to have someone trustworthy, lovin, and caring for your dog. I’ll treat your pup like my own and provide daily updates with photos, plus quick notes on meals and how their day went. My schedule is very flexible, which allows me to accommodate a variety of pet care needs. I work Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons into early evenings, and Sunday mornings into early afternoon. Outside of those hours, I’m available for walks, drop-ins, feeding, playtime, and extended visits. I’m happy to work with your pet’s routine and provide consistent care, along with daily updates and photos so you feel confident while you’re away. 🐾📸 When caring for pets in a client’s home, I focus on keeping their routine as normal and stress-free as possible. I follow all instructions closely, including feeding schedules, walking routines, and any household rules you have in place. I make sure your pet always has fresh water, a clean space, and plenty of attention and comfort. For dogs, I’m careful with leash safety, door safety, and picking up waste on every walk. For cats, I keep litter boxes clean, make sure doors and windows stay secure, and respect their comfort level—whether they want playtime or quiet companionship.

About: Animals have been a part of my life since childhood, from our show dog who was an Irish Wolfhound to being a rescue mom to smaller terriers. I have cared for horses, chickens, bunnies which included pets with special handicaps. With deep empathy and natural connection, I understand animals on an intuitive level. I have trained puppies, comforted seniors and welcomed countless creatures who somehow find their way to my home. Your pet will find a home away from home here with me, safe, loving-and I look forward to offering the same love I show all animals to your beloved pet. All the animals in my home live in harmony together. Some visitors marvel at that fact but it's how I treat each animal with love and care that fosters this environment. All needs are met and everyone is happy! I am home during the day and available to provide attentive care for your pet. I may step out briefly for errands or other chores but will ensure your pet's needs are fully met and they get plenty of company and care. Our home is on one acre with a fenced in yard and great area for walking with lots of trees in a peaceful setting. I have a senior dog (17 yo) that loves company. We also have cats which are friendly and curious.

About: Pups have been a huge part of my life ever since I was a child. When caring for pets, I make sure to follow their establish routines, provide plenty of attention and exercise, and ensure they always have access to fresh water and a safe environment. About: Hi there! I can’t wait to welcome your pet into my home. Dogs and cats who stay here are treated like guests of honor, with all the care and attention I bestow upon my own pets. Unless there are extenuating circumstances, pets are allowed to roam freely in a cozy, familiar home environment — no rows of kenneled dogs here! I’m very selective about the pets I accept. I usually only accept a maximum of 3-4 dogs at once. I meet every new pet before booking, and I usually won’t accept more than one new dog at a time, alongside repeat clients. This ensures that I’m familiar with how all the dogs will interact with each other, with only one new variable, thus avoiding potentially uncomfortable or dangerous situations for your pet. I’ve always loved animals, and with more than 15 years of pet care under my belt, I have the knowledge and experience to provide your pets with the best care possible. I take the responsibility of caring for your pets very seriously, and I’m certified by the American Red Cross in Cat and Dog First Aid. Earliest drop off or pickup is at 8 am. Latest drop off or pickup is at 8 pm on weekdays, 9 pm on weekends. I’m also available for drop-ins at your home, every day except Saturday mornings. (I’m available Saturday evenings instead.) For Dogs: I have a large, unfenced backyard that dogs love exploring on a 50-foot long leash - so many scents to sniff and chipmunks to chase! I’m always there to monitor them - dogs are never left alone outdoors. Water is always available, and I work from home so I’m around the majority of the day to keep them happy and safe. What you’ll need to send: Their regular food is the most important thing to send, as dogs can get upset stomach from sudden dietary changes. You can also send their favorite treats, and a favorite toy. If they tend to pull on the leash, a front-latch harness, rubber-tipped prong collar, or gentle leader is appreciated. Bowls, beds, brushes, litter bags etc. are all unnecessary, as I have extras of all these supplies. For puppies, a crate may be necessary, depending on their level of potty training. For Cats: The cats have a comfy lounge downstairs, with food, water, litter boxes, and scratching posts. The dogs are not allowed downstairs, so the cats can get all the space they need from the dogs. The cats are free to move upstairs and downstairs as they prefer. All cats are indoors only. I have a lot of wide, accessible windowsills that they love chilling on to watch birds and squirrels outside, as well as battery-operated and automated toys that they can chase and play with on their own. What you’ll need to send: their regular food (wet and dry) and treats. Cat litter is also appreciated. I work from home, so my schedule is flexible and I’m home most of the day. I have a spacious home that can accommodate giving multiple animals space, and I can keep animals separated from each other if necessary. I've always loved animals of all kinds, and I currently have my own dog and 3 cats. I can't wait to meet your pet, and I promise to love them and care for them the way every pet deserves to be loved!

We booked her for 8 days of drop in visits, and every day that she was with our Charli she takes lots of pictures and write notes of what she did to Charli ( like a summary of her visit) , which me and my hubby really loved. We are booking her again june to november while im away for travel work… we love you Monica

Alice was amazing caring for our 2 cats and 1 dog. While sitting for us, our dog had a medical emergency and she couldn't reach my husband and I. She took the initiative to call the vet and bring him in for care. She went above and beyond to ensure he was OK, and kept us informed of how he was doing until we got back home the next day. We highly recommend Alice - she is kind, responsible and communicative!

Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Chestnut Ridge. On Rover:

  • 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
