“Thank you, Teadie, for taking such good care of our Imo. Your photos and frequent updates enabled us to really enjoy our vacation. Imo was very content upon our return and, we’re sure, would enjoy your sitting for him again!!! And thank you for taking care of the linen and towels…you didn’t need to do that, but it was very much appreciated!”

“Jill took great care of our home and of course, our precious pup Mona! This was our first time having a house-sitter and Jill made it an easy, stress-free experience. Thanks so much Jill!”

“Jack was terrific with Imo; kept us updated and sent pics for the three days we were away. We returned home to a calm dog, excited to see us. Will definitely call on Jack again.”

“Nicole was great with my three dogs. She is very responsive and helped when I asked her to set up a couple of things in preparation for our return as we were surprising my stepson with a few little treats!”

“Sammantha is our go-to care taker for our rat terrier Indy. She is very responsive and treats Indy like one of her own. Indy loves when Sammantha comes to visit. Highly recommended!”

“She was fantastic! We have 2 cats and 2 dogs. She pet sat at our house when I needed to fly to Florida last minute for a family emergency. Colleen, sent us updates with pictures. Gave me such a peace of mind while gone to know my fur babies were in good hands!”

About: I grew up on a farm and have been around animals my entire life. Cats are my favorite and I’ve had them since I was a child. In the past I have been mostly cat sitting. More recently, I have been dog walking and sitting for friend’s dogs while they are away on vacation or at work. I enjoy it as a therapeutic way of bonding with the animals as a form of self-care and mutual support and pet care co-regulation. Unfortunately, I cannot have dogs at my residence as per my lease agreement and being able to sit and walk with dogs is a way of being able to enjoy access to them without being able to own them myself. I’m looking to expand my reach and explore more breeds at this time. Specifically, I have experience with Labradors and Boxers. I’m currently working part-time and have ample time to schedule walking and feedings, and am able to stay for extended periods of time with your pets. I have two cats whom I adore and dote on at my home and I am very attentive to their needs and make sure they have an enriched environment with toys and play time, as well as grooming care.
“Robbie watched our 3 dogs and our cat for 9 days at our home. One of our dogs is a 5mth old Anatolian Shepherd and he is a handful. Robbie took such great care of not only our animals but our home too! She would also send us pictures and kept us updated on our fur-babies. I truly feel this was our 1st vacation worry free. We couldn’t be happier with the choice we made. If you need a trustworthy and reliable pet sitter…. I would definitely recommend Robbie. We are very thankful for her and we would definitely be using her again.”

“Tessa took care of two cats and two dogs. One of the cats required a pill every day and one of the dogs needed pills as well. One of the dogs was a senior and needed help with stairs. Tessa did a fantastic job with all of it. I have no fence so she had the added job of leashing and walking the dogs numerous times a day. I would not hesitate to employ and recommend her.”

“Abbey stayed with Lambert for a week in our house and took care of everything. Abbey is *super* dependable, great communications, and an excellent caretaker for the cat and the house. We love having Abbey and we highly recommend working with her!”

“Brandon was great! He came to meet us beforehand to make sure we were comfortable. Booch immediately loved him. While we were away he was extremely communicative and sent lots of pictures. The house was also well taken care of. We would definitely hire him again!”

“No worries your dog is with a superstar! He was accommodating and loving towards our very senior Maltese and he also took time to reach out and update. Hes great with my lab too!!! He is fantastic! Highly would recommend and rebook. Very caring individual”

About: Prior to moving towns I used to pet sit for all of my neighbors. Pets large and small, it didn’t matter but it was always fun. I’m starting my MBA next fall so anything earned on here will go towards that goal of mine! I’ve owned pets for over 12 years and have been taking care of others for 6 so almost all throughout high school and undergrad. I can walk multiple dogs at once, great with elderly animals, experienced with puppies, able to administer pet medication, etc. If you have questions reach out! Currently I am taking two online summer courses for my MBA with Sacred Heart University. I go to the gym 4 times a week and work drop in bartending shifts sometimes on weekends. Since I make my own schedule pet care fits very well into it because I can tailor mine to fit the animals needs! I don’t offer in home care at the moment because my sister recently got hip surgery so I’m waiting until she’s more comfortable to have other peoples pets at home. Otherwise I have two sweet dogs who have coexisted well with pets that I’ve taken care of in the past as well as cats they stay in their own room.

About: I have experience with being around animals since I’ve been 5 years old. I have two dogs of my own and three cats as well. I will make sure the animals are comfortable, loved and taken care of properly. I am patient, caring, and have high energy. I am big on play time and walks and making sure they get their exercise for the day. I have walked dogs before and also provided in house care for several of my neighbors and close family friends. I really do enjoy being around animals and find it very relaxing. I’m a college student and can be very stressed at times so getting to play with an animal really is something I look forward to. Thank you (: On a daily basis I am always making sure my animals are fed, getting play time in, cuddles and more! They are so important to me! Making sure my pets always have water and their litter box is clean on a daily basis. I always ensure they get little extra treats throughout the day as well as cuddles!
“Preston watched my 2.5 year old sheepadoodle Archie for just under 2 weeks while I was traveling. I highly recommend Preston to anyone who needs a house sitter. He was great with Archie and provided me updates as needed and was easy to get a hold of. He even began training Archie on some different skills. He even left my house cleaner than when I left it. Preston was a great choice for house sitting and I will definitely try to use him again if I ever need someone to watch my pup and house!”

“David did an outstanding job watching our dog, Trixie. He walked her often during the day, and had her out early in the morning and well into the evening. He came to our home the day before his scheduled time to meet with us, and to see the dog. He wanted Trixie to see us together with him, so she would be comfortable knowing that he was an accepted part of our pet family. He left our home in perfect condition when we came back from a brief vacation. David is a very nice person and he is well suited with pets. I would have David back in the future when his services are again needed. Roseann and Mike b”

About: I’ve had and cared for my own dogs for the past 6 years and have loved dogs for as long as I can remember. Growing up around dogs taught me how important patience, consistency, and attention are to making pets feel safe and comfortable. I currently have a flexible schedule and am available most days, which allows me to give pets plenty of attention, playtime, walks, and care throughout the day. I’m happy to work with your routine and make sure your dog feels comfortable, cared for, and stays on schedule while you’re away. Communication is important to me, and I’ll do my best to be available whenever you need dependable pet care. Your pet’s comfort and safety will always come first. I take time to learn each dog’s routine, personality, and preferences so they feel relaxed and secure. I’ll follow feeding schedules, walking routines, and any instructions carefully while giving them attention, patience, and lots of care. I treat every pet like I would my own and aim to create a calm, safe, and positive environment.

About: Although new to Rover, I have been taking care of dogs for my entire life and have years of experience in professional pet care! As a college athlete I live an active lifestyle and understand the importance of a schedule. That being said I am a great match for high-energy pups who need a lot of playtime and long walks. I also aim to maintain the routine you find best for your pup to provide the least amount of changes to your dogs schedule, and therefore the least amount of stress for them in your absence. I also pride myself in my attentiveness, understanding, and tendency to go above and beyond. You can expect updates with pictures, flexibility with schedule changes or last minute bookings, and patience with your dog in my care. With a high-energy Pitbull and a couch-potato senior dog, I can readily adapt to the needs of your pup! I unfortunately cannot board your furry friends in my home at this time for the safety of my own dogs and the respect of my family! Regarding house sitting services, I am happy to provide overnight care in your home and maintain your pets normal routine as well as any basic house upkeep upon request (mail, trash, etc). I may leave throughout the day to maintain my personal schedule for work, school, or prior plans, however I treat your pet like my own and ensure they are receiving all the attention, potty breaks, playtime, and meals as they would in your care. I would love to take your pup on trails or to my personal fenced backyard for some exercise and to make them more comfortable! Regarding drop-ins and dog walking, I am extremely flexible and can often accept last minute bookings. I am working full time over the summer and will accommodate as best I can to your desired schedule. Early mornings and evenings are available for me on weekdays, weekends can vary but are usually free! My Pitbull loves to play outside and go on long walks. We are lucky to have a large, fenced backyard to enjoy on a daily basis. My senior dog loves slow walks and snuggles, which I ensure he gets plenty of.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Central Valley on Rover is $15.54 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Central Valley walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Central Valley maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Central Valley choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
