“Jack was terrific with Imo; kept us updated and sent pics for the three days we were away. We returned home to a calm dog, excited to see us. Will definitely call on Jack again.”

“Jill took great care of our home and of course, our precious pup Mona! This was our first time having a house-sitter and Jill made it an easy, stress-free experience. Thanks so much Jill!”

“Jamie provided exceptional care for Poli, going above and beyond in managing his diabetes. Her regular updates and pictures reassured us that our dog was in good hands, and it was heartwarming to hear that Poli felt comfortable enough to sleep with her on the second night. This level of connection indicates her genuine compassion and expertise in handling pets with special needs. We are incredibly grateful for her dedication and would highly recommend her to anyone in need of pet care. Thank you, Jamie, for taking such wonderful care of our little guy!”

About: I grew up on a farm and have been around animals my entire life. Cats are my favorite and I’ve had them since I was a child. In the past I have been mostly cat sitting. More recently, I have been dog walking and sitting for friend’s dogs while they are away on vacation or at work. I enjoy it as a therapeutic way of bonding with the animals as a form of self-care and mutual support and pet care co-regulation. Unfortunately, I cannot have dogs at my residence as per my lease agreement and being able to sit and walk with dogs is a way of being able to enjoy access to them without being able to own them myself. I’m looking to expand my reach and explore more breeds at this time. Specifically, I have experience with Labradors and Boxers. I’m currently working part-time and have ample time to schedule walking and feedings, and am able to stay for extended periods of time with your pets. I have two cats whom I adore and dote on at my home and I am very attentive to their needs and make sure they have an enriched environment with toys and play time, as well as grooming care.
“She was fantastic! We have 2 cats and 2 dogs. She pet sat at our house when I needed to fly to Florida last minute for a family emergency. Colleen, sent us updates with pictures. Gave me such a peace of mind while gone to know my fur babies were in good hands!”

“Jacquelin was such a WONDERFUL pet sitter to my Italian Greyhound, Oliver. I've never used Rover before, and she kept my mind at ease while I was out of town for a wedding. I wouldn't have been able to go without her help! I received updates, pictures, and videos everyday. Thank you Jacquelin for being the best!”

“Thank you, Teadie, for taking such good care of our Imo. Your photos and frequent updates enabled us to really enjoy our vacation. Imo was very content upon our return and, we’re sure, would enjoy your sitting for him again!!! And thank you for taking care of the linen and towels…you didn’t need to do that, but it was very much appreciated!”

“Alexis was great with our pups. We got daily updates, and all of our requests were handled. We have a fear reactive pup and Alexis was even willing to come and meet our pooches several times before our actual trip to allow our pups to get comfortable (and vice versa). Alexis is chill and easy going and the doggos vibed well with that. We found Alexis to be very reliable, patient, responsible, kind, and essentially everything we could ask for in a sitter. We definitely recommend Alexis.”

“Sammantha is our go-to care taker for our rat terrier Indy. She is very responsive and treats Indy like one of her own. Indy loves when Sammantha comes to visit. Highly recommended!”

“Abbey did a wonderful job taking care of our 2 energetic weimaraners. She kept us informed of their activities and sent lots of photos. She walked both dogs and played Frisbee Would definitely use Abbey again to take care of our dogs”

“Wonderful!! Katie is so kind and has the calmest demeanor. As soon as we did a meet and greet I felt so comfortable leaning my dog Sophie in her care. Katie provided photos and in depth updates so I had nothing to worry about! Great communicator and do easy to work with. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be using her again!”

“No worries your dog is with a superstar! He was accommodating and loving towards our very senior Maltese and he also took time to reach out and update. Hes great with my lab too!!! He is fantastic! Highly would recommend and rebook. Very caring individual”

“Robbie was nothing short of heaven sent! When we had to make last minute changes for our dogs’s care Robbie took the time to come over, get acclimated with our two large dogs and learn their routine to keep them comfortable as it was their first time with care from a sitter. When our flight was canceled due to a snow storm, she continued to show up for them and even took them out to play in the snow and sent us pics to keep our minds at ease. She was caring, respectful to our home and really went above and beyond in so many ways. You can tell she’s a real animal lover and we are so grateful she cared for our pups!”

“Preston watched my 2.5 year old sheepadoodle Archie for just under 2 weeks while I was traveling. I highly recommend Preston to anyone who needs a house sitter. He was great with Archie and provided me updates as needed and was easy to get a hold of. He even began training Archie on some different skills. He even left my house cleaner than when I left it. Preston was a great choice for house sitting and I will definitely try to use him again if I ever need someone to watch my pup and house!”

“Melissa was amazing! Our cat has been really picky with food and Melissa went out of her way to try different options to make sure she ate. When we came home, we honestly think our cat was disappointed it was us and not Melissa, lol. The house was in beautiful shape, and we never once felt nervous about being away from home. THANK YOU!!”

About: I have experience with being around animals since I’ve been 5 years old. I have two dogs of my own and three cats as well. I will make sure the animals are comfortable, loved and taken care of properly. I am patient, caring, and have high energy. I am big on play time and walks and making sure they get their exercise for the day. I have walked dogs before and also provided in house care for several of my neighbors and close family friends. This was Millie’s very first overnight stay without us — a big deal for our 11-month old Cavalier! Jaime followed her routine beautifully, took her out frequently, and checked in a few times per day with photos and updates. She handled everything with warmth and care. Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Mountainville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Mountainville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Mountainville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
