“Thank you, Teadie, for taking such good care of our Imo. Your photos and frequent updates enabled us to really enjoy our vacation. Imo was very content upon our return and, we’re sure, would enjoy your sitting for him again!!! And thank you for taking care of the linen and towels…you didn’t need to do that, but it was very much appreciated!”

“Jill took great care of our doggos! We are very happy we found her and have already booked for a repeat stay later this summer. We booked way in advance and she was great about coming to meet the dogs, not once (early), but twice (the week of our trip). You can tell she loves dogs and was so patient with our shy one. She was very responsive and sent lots of pictures!”

“Nicole watched our cats for our wedding and because of it we had nothing to worry about on our special day. Five stars does not cut it when it comes to how incredible Nicole is!”

“Robbie watched our 3 dogs and our cat for 9 days at our home. One of our dogs is a 5mth old Anatolian Shepherd and he is a handful. Robbie took such great care of not only our animals but our home too! She would also send us pictures and kept us updated on our fur-babies. I truly feel this was our 1st vacation worry free. We couldn’t be happier with the choice we made. If you need a trustworthy and reliable pet sitter…. I would definitely recommend Robbie. We are very thankful for her and we would definitely be using her again.”

“She was fantastic! We have 2 cats and 2 dogs. She pet sat at our house when I needed to fly to Florida last minute for a family emergency. Colleen, sent us updates with pictures. Gave me such a peace of mind while gone to know my fur babies were in good hands!”

“Sammantha is our go-to care taker for our rat terrier Indy. She is very responsive and treats Indy like one of her own. Indy loves when Sammantha comes to visit. Highly recommended!”

“Tessa took care of two cats and two dogs. One of the cats required a pill every day and one of the dogs needed pills as well. One of the dogs was a senior and needed help with stairs. Tessa did a fantastic job with all of it. I have no fence so she had the added job of leashing and walking the dogs numerous times a day. I would not hesitate to employ and recommend her.”

“Brandon was great! He came to meet us beforehand to make sure we were comfortable. Booch immediately loved him. While we were away he was extremely communicative and sent lots of pictures. The house was also well taken care of. We would definitely hire him again!”

About: Prior to moving towns I used to pet sit for all of my neighbors. Pets large and small, it didn’t matter but it was always fun. I’m starting my MBA next fall so anything earned on here will go towards that goal of mine! I’ve owned pets for over 12 years and have been taking care of others for 6 so almost all throughout high school and undergrad. I can walk multiple dogs at once, great with elderly animals, experienced with puppies, able to administer pet medication, etc. If you have questions reach out! Currently I am taking two online summer courses for my MBA with Sacred Heart University. I go to the gym 4 times a week and work drop in bartending shifts sometimes on weekends. Since I make my own schedule pet care fits very well into it because I can tailor mine to fit the animals needs! I don’t offer in home care at the moment because my sister recently got hip surgery so I’m waiting until she’s more comfortable to have other peoples pets at home. Otherwise I have two sweet dogs who have coexisted well with pets that I’ve taken care of in the past as well as cats they stay in their own room.
About: I have over 16 years of hands-on experience caring for pets of all sizes, temperaments, and needs. I’ve supported dogs through daily care, feeding routines, long walks, playtime, medication administration, and providing comfort while their owners are away. I’m highly intuitive, attentive, and patient, making animals feel safe, calm, and cared for in their own environment. I understand that every pet has a unique personality and routine, and I take pride in adapting my care to meet their individual needs. Whether it’s an energetic pup who loves adventure or a more sensitive pet who needs a gentle presence, I create a nurturing, reliable experience for both pets and their owners. I offer a flexible schedule and am available for mornings, afternoons, evenings, and overnight care. I’m open to weekday and weekend bookings and can accommodate consistent routines or last-minute requests when needed. I provide an attentive, respectful care in clients’ homes, following routines closely, maintaining a calm environment, and ensuring pets feel safe, loved, comfortable, and secure.
“We recently had David dog sit for us, and he did a fantastic job! He came over the night before to meet our dogs and get familiar with their routine, which we really appreciated. It gave us peace of mind knowing he was thoughtful and prepared. While we were away, our flight ended up being delayed by almost five hours, and David stayed longer without hesitation to make sure our dogs were well taken care of. That kind of reliability and flexibility is rare and so appreciated. When we got home, it was clear the dogs were happy, calm, and well looked after. We’re very grateful for David’s care and would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a responsible and kind dog sitter!”

About: I’ve worked in a preschool and as a camp counselor, so I’m used to managing routines, keeping little ones engaged, and staying patient in any situation. That carries over naturally to pet care — I’m great with puppies who need consistency and positive reinforcement, and I’m gentle and attentive with senior pets who need a slower pace and extra comfort. I’m currently home from college and work part time, which means I have plenty of time to take care of and play with a furry friend! I have a fenced in yard and two fur babies to keep your baby company, if needed they can be kept in a separate part of the home, and I also have play pens and crates.
“Yhakerra was so attentive and extremely caring towards both my fur babies. It was not easy either because both my kitties are in separate spaces of the house due to one of them chasing the other and hissing/growling. However, Yhakerra did amazing and handled the separate feedings/litter cleanings like a pro. She also left the house very clean and immaculate. She was even so caring that she asked if she could carry the youngest baby, Luna to the bedroom and let her sleep in the bed, which of course I was so touched that she was so sweet to accommodate the well being of the babies. She had to move her litterbox and food bowls. I highly recommend Yhakerra and will be booking her again in the future. Thank you so much Yhakerra, I’m so thankful to have had you care for my babies.”

About: I’ve had and cared for my own dogs for the past 6 years and have loved dogs for as long as I can remember. Growing up around dogs taught me how important patience, consistency, and attention are to making pets feel safe and comfortable. I currently have a flexible schedule and am available most days, which allows me to give pets plenty of attention, playtime, walks, and care throughout the day. I’m happy to work with your routine and make sure your dog feels comfortable, cared for, and stays on schedule while you’re away. Communication is important to me, and I’ll do my best to be available whenever you need dependable pet care. Your pet’s comfort and safety will always come first. I take time to learn each dog’s routine, personality, and preferences so they feel relaxed and secure. I’ll follow feeding schedules, walking routines, and any instructions carefully while giving them attention, patience, and lots of care. I treat every pet like I would my own and aim to create a calm, safe, and positive environment.
“Abbey stayed with Lambert for a week in our house and took care of everything. Abbey is *super* dependable, great communications, and an excellent caretaker for the cat and the house. We love having Abbey and we highly recommend working with her!”

“Preston watched my 2.5 year old sheepadoodle Archie for just under 2 weeks while I was traveling. I highly recommend Preston to anyone who needs a house sitter. He was great with Archie and provided me updates as needed and was easy to get a hold of. He even began training Archie on some different skills. He even left my house cleaner than when I left it. Preston was a great choice for house sitting and I will definitely try to use him again if I ever need someone to watch my pup and house!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Harriman walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Harriman maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Harriman choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Harriman. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
