“Ilona was so awesome!! She sent updates with videos and our girls were so so happy. We know that they were well cared for! We’ll definitely use Ilona again because we know they’ll be in fantastic hands! Thanks so much!”

“Alexis took excellent care of River Rose during her two-day stay. From the moment River was dropped off, I felt confident she was in great hands. Alexis sent daily photos, videos, and updates, which meant so much to me as a very overprotective dog mom. River Rose is incredibly special to me, and Alexis made me feel completely at ease the entire time. It was clear that she genuinely cared for River and treated her as if she were her own pet. The love, attention, and care she provided exceeded my expectations. I can't recommend Alexis enough and will absolutely be booking with her again in the future. I'd also be happy to serve as a reference for anyone considering her services. Thank you, Alexis, for taking such wonderful care of River Rose!”

“Annie was great! She was super responsive and helpful. I dropped Parker off at Puppy Paws while visiting Storm King, which is conveniently about 5 minutes down the road. The shop itself is super cute and Parker was very well taken care of.”

“Travis and Roberta were critical in helping us get our dog settled the first week we had him! They were so kind and patient with him. He loved going over to their house when we couldn’t be home! Their dog was older than ours and was also patient and gentle with him, so it was great socialization for our pup! We will definitely be booking with them again in the future!”

“Richard & Karen are very friendly & caring. This was our first time using their services and look forward to having Jinga over with them again in two weeks.”

About: If you enjoy working with someone, you must work with them. Again, and again and again that is how I feel when I’m around my Fur friends! I work full-time for the Department of Education, but I am available on the weekends and the entire summer to care for your Fur friend. I live in a house with a backyard and enough room for your furry friend to run and play. I will provide great services to ensure they are always happy and well-cared for
“David took excellent care of our two pups! He was very attentive and made sure to ask good questions ahead of time. He communicated frequently with us and kept us updated! We picked up 2 very happy dogs. Would definitely recommend”

About: As a doctor, I’ve spent years caring for people of all ages and I bring that same compassion, patience, and attention to detail to the pets I look after. What sets me apart is my medical background and calm, caring approach to both routine and unexpected situations. I’m comfortable helping with pets who need a bit of extra attention, like seniors, those on medication, or anxious animals, always ensuring they feel safe and cared for. I’ve been caring for dogs since I was about 10 years old, when I started helping my neighbors with their pets while they were away. Over the years, I’ve gained hands-on experience with dogs of all sizes and temperaments — from playful puppies who need consistency and training, to older dogs who require gentler care and medication on schedule. In the past, I’ve also trained many dogs, focusing on consistency, positive reinforcement, and gentle play to help them learn and have fun. Whether your pet needs structured walks, quiet companionship, or a steady hand during medication time, I’ll treat them like one of my own family members. Pet care fits easily into my daily routine. I’m an early riser and make time every day for walks, play, and check-ins. My work schedule is flexible, allowing me to plan visits around each pet’s needs—whether it’s morning exercise, midday drop-ins, or evening companionship. Caring for animals is a relaxing and rewarding part of my week. I treat every home and pet with the same respect and care I give my own. I follow your instructions carefully, maintain a clean environment, and keep pets safe with close supervision indoors and secure leashes outdoors. I focus on helping pets feel comfortable and calm, especially when their families are away, so they always feel cared for and at ease.
“This was my first time leaving my dog for boarding and using the Rover app.Jonathon went above and beyond to take care of my dog I even ran out of food and he offered to run to the store to grab some more. Throughout the stay he updated me and sent pictures easing some of my anxiety. I now know I have someone that I can rely on and my dog will be taking good care of and I will be using.Jonathon for my future boarding needs! I’ve also recommended him to my friends as well.”

“This was my first time using Rover and actually my first time leaving my dog with anyone for more than an hour (besides the vet). We were traveling and staying at an Airbnb so we could do a day at Legoland. I was nervous, but everything went great! Bailey immediately took to Amy's assistant who came out to greet us and happily went with her, which is not something he would do with most people. She sent a video and some photos while we were at the park, which was a huge relief to know he was doing okay. I would definitely recommend Amy and am much more at ease using Rover again.”

“Brenda saved my life! My husband had a business trip and 2 of my regular sitters were booked! She was wonderful with Grover, who can be stand offish but he warmed up to her! She took him on walks, he played in her yard and had a lovely stay. She is reliable and great with my dog!”

Ilona was exactly what we needed when our plans fell through and we needed someone to watch our dog when we were at an out of town wedding. She was able to take our dog on short notice. Our pup felt comfortable and went straight in and we had a great time at the wedding. Thank you Ilona!

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Central Valley commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
