Jasper was responsive and easy to communicate with. He sent lots of photos of our dogs and even our grumpy 13yr old senior dog loved him. Stayed with our 3 dogs for 3 days. Will definitely have him watch them again.

About: I have had dogs my entire life, also have done dog sitting for neighbors growing up. For a while, I was the manager of a dog daycare/boarding/grooming/retail store servicing any where from 10-50 dogs per day. I’m happy to assist with puppy training, or just hanging out with your senior pup! I have 3 days per week with open availability, and available for overnights in the surrounding area. Let’s discuss how I can help get your pup the care you deserve! I treat all pets as they were my own. I am an animal lover through and through, they all deserve the best, most loving care.

We’ve hired Louis to house sit and watch our cat three times now and he has gone above and beyond each time. He offered to drop by for an extra morning at no additional cost after our travel plans were extended and he even took out the track and brought in all our packages and mail during our absence. You can’t go wrong with Louis!

About: I’m comfortable caring for pets of different ages and temperaments, including energetic puppies and kittens as well as senior pets who may need extra patience, consistency, and attention. I’m attentive to feeding schedules, medications, exercise, playtime, and maintaining the routines your pet is accustomed to. I work early in the morning, which leaves me with a flexible schedule during the middle of the day when many people are at work. This allows me to offer reliable and flexible pet care, including midday visits, walks, feeding, playtime, and companionship. I’m happy to work with each pet’s individual routine and needs and can often accommodate weekday daytime requests. Safety and trust are my top priorities. I treat every pet and every home with the same care and respect I would want for my own. I take the time to understand each pet’s routine, personality, feeding schedule, exercise needs, and any special instructions before care begins. In a client’s home, I provide attentive, respectful care while keeping their pet comfortable in the familiar environment they know best. I’m careful to follow instructions closely, keep doors and gates securely closed, and make sure pets are safe and supervised. I also treat your home with respect and leave it just as I found it. I believe good pet care is about more than simply feeding and walking an animal - it’s about providing companionship, consistency, patience, and peace of mind. I want both you and your pet to feel comfortable knowing they are in caring and responsible hands.

This was our second time having Scott stay with my girls. One of my dogs is a grumpy lady and the other is super timid, but it’s clear they’re happy with Scott! The way he talks lovingly about them is reassuring since I know they can be high maintenance, but he genuinely enjoys them the way I do. We got pictures of their happy little faces while hanging out. :) We’ll be excited to have Scott stay over again!

About: I’ve been surrounded by animals my entire life. Growing up on a farm, my family always had multiple dogs and often cats, so caring for animals has always been second nature to me. I love spending time with pets and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for. After college, I regularly pet sat and looked after my parents’ farm while they traveled, sometimes for trips lasting up to a month. This meant caring for multiple animals, sticking to feeding schedules, and making sure everything ran smoothly while they were away. I also helped raise and train my girlfriend’s dog from puppyhood, giving me experience with basic obedience, leash manners, socialization, and establishing a consistent routine. Whether your pet is energetic and playful or prefers a quiet companion, I’ll treat them with the same care, patience, and attention I’d give my own. I work Tuesday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM, but outside of those hours my schedule is very flexible. I’m available for early morning, evening, overnight, and weekend care, with full availability Saturday through Monday. I’m reliable, responsive, and committed to keeping your pet’s routine as consistent as possible so they feel comfortable while you’re away. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and well-being are always my top priorities. I understand that every pet has unique needs, so I’ll take the time to follow your instructions closely, maintain their normal routine, and provide plenty of attention and care. I’ll keep your home clean and secure, make sure doors, gates, and leashes are always used properly, and treat both your pets and your home with the same respect I would my own. You can count on regular updates and photos so you can have peace of mind while you’re away.

About: I’ve been caring for fur babies since I graduated high school, giving both puppies and senior dogs the special attention they need. I love animals of every shape and size and treat them like my own—because let’s be honest, they run the household anyway. Your pet will get a happy, stress-free stay with plenty of love, snuggles, and top-tier spoiling. I work a full-time job during the day, but I’m available for drop-ins and visits in the late afternoons and evenings. I’m also free all day on Sundays, as well as one select weekday depending on my schedule. If you communicate your needs ahead of time, I’ll always do my best to make it happen. Your fur baby’s safety and happiness are my top priorities. I come to your home so your pet can stay in their favorite place, surrounded by familiar smells and routines. I follow your instructions carefully and keep your home secure, tidy, and respected. You’ll always get clear updates so you know your pet is safe, happy, and well cared for.

About: I grew up with cats, and have been taking care of others cats, dogs, turtles, chickens, and you name it since I was 10. With care ranging from giving my aging childhood cats shots, crushing up meds for my coworker’s senior dog, and even milking someone’s goats while they were out of town. Whatever your pet needs, I will take care of. And send a photo of you fur baby every day while I am at it. I’m an elementary art teacher, so during the school year (beginning August 13) I’m typically at work from 7:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. If you’re looking for care for your dog, I’d be happy to start the day with a morning walk before work and head straight back after school for another walk, playtime, and plenty of attention. On weekends and school breaks, my schedule is much more flexible. At this time, I only offer house sitting, not boarding. I know it takes a lot of trust to welcome someone into your home and care for your pet, and I don’t take that responsibility lightly. I’ll stick to your pet’s routine as closely as possible so they feel comfortable and secure while you’re away, keep your home clean and well cared for, and send regular updates so you can relax knowing they’re in good hands.

About: I’ve had several dogs since I was a kid. Currently we have 4, including one puppy. I’m used to taking care of all dog personalities, like nervous puppies, grouchy old dogs, and hyper pups. I work occasional nights about twice a week from 4:30-10 at a restaurant. I would be out of the house at that time, but I often get cut early so we can further discuss when booking. I am comfortable crating dogs. I am also used to administering pills to dogs and cats, even those who don’t love to take their medication.

About: I’ve grown up with all sorts of dogs differing in size from chihuahuas to golden doodles. Within the past two years I started pet sitting for a friend while she was on vacation (six dachshunds) and loved it enough to make it my side hobby! I’m currently a full time College student taking online courses at CMC, so I’ll have plenty of spare time to care for your animals throughout the day/week! While my pets are allowed to roam our property as much as they please under constant supervision, I completely understand that some fur-baby’s are runners and must stay on the leash or in a fenced in areas. I’m completely flexible to any requirements or concerns you have for your fur-baby!

Faith is an incredible person and sitter. She provided multiple updates throughout the stay with pictures. She cleaned up after herself and maintained the schedule/ outline provided during her stay. 10/10 would book Faith for any of your needs. Our pets didn’t want her to leave! Faith responded very well to our reactive dog and treated him like her own. We felt so good knowing Faith kept all of our pets safe throughout the entire stay.

FAQs for House Sitting - Carbondale

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Carbondale on Rover is $93.24 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 206 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Carbondale. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Carbondale walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Carbondale maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Carbondale choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Carbondale. On Rover:

  • 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
