“Katie was absolutely amazing! She stayed at our house and watched our Golden Retriever for 5 nights while we were on vacation, and he absolutely loved her. It was such a relief knowing he was happy, comfortable in his own home, and being well taken care of while we were away. Katie was trustworthy, caring, and did a great job with him. We came home to a happy dog and everything just as we left it. We would absolutely book Katie again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone they can trust to stay overnight and take great care of their dog!”

“Our fur babies were well loved and cared for by Angel. They were happy and calm when we arrived back home. Our house was clean and neat, just like we left it. Angel kept in touch and sent pictures and videos daily; picked up our mail amd even watered our plants 💝Bed was stripped and towels put in the laundry room...thank you😊. We have already requested a "rebooking" for October. 5 🌟 👍”

“Clare did a wonderful job dog sitting my two pups! She will be our first choice if we need a sitter in the future. She was reliable, conscientious, and both dogs fell in love with her. Thank you Clare!”
“Gracie has kept my 2 Danes a couple of times and they love her. She keeps me updated frequently with pictures and texts. We have searched for someone that we can trust to be in our home and who will love our big babies and we have found her!”

“Qais took wonderful care of our animals! We really appreciated all the videos and photos to let us know how happy they were. He was super considerate of our time and had great communication. We would definitely have him watch our little ones again!”

About: I’ve had dogs my entire life. My family had two Poodles while I was growing up. I helped care for them by giving them baths, feeding them, and walking them. I also made sure they got out and had exercise by taking them for run around my neighborhood. I am active duty in the Army and am stationed at Fort Knox. I can definitely stop by at least twice a day in the morning and then evening. Depending on how far away, I can even stop by mid day during my lunch break. I can come to the pups and care for them at their homes. I’d love to take them out on long walks and to doggie parks. Just playing with them would be amazing!
About: I have been around all sorts of animals my entire life! I love taking care of pets and getting to know them! I am happy to administer medications and cater to special circumstances. I currently am an occupational therapist between contracts, so I am free at all times for your pet sitting needs! I can be there from early morning to late at night. I also can do overnight visits! I love all animals and will treat them like my own. Every pet deserves the best care possible, and I am more than happy to provide it!
“Chris was amazing!! We were able to leave Remi home and know that he was being taken care of. He was accommodating at the last minute— Definitely a life saver! Will be recommending him to friends and using him for future sittings.”
“Madison was amazing and so sweet to my boys. The house was perfect when we got home and my dogs were happy ! Nothing more I could’ve asked for! I would recommend her and will definitely be using her again!”

“Haley took care of our 5 cats and 1 dog during an overnight visit. All of our kids seemed happy and relaxed when we got home. Our extremely shy cats even came out shortly after she arrived -- this means they felt very safe with her. We were impressed; she has a demeanor that makes pets feel very safe. She took great care of everyone, and also gave medication to one of our cats. She sent several photos of our kids, which we appreciated.”

My goal is to give you peace of mind knowing your furry family members are in caring, responsible hands. As a PhD student, my schedule can vary from week to week depending on classes, research, and clinical responsibilities. I’m happy to discuss my availability once you know your travel dates, and I’ll always be upfront about what I can accommodate. I’ll do my best to provide reliable, flexible care that fits both your schedule and your pet’s needs. Your pet’s comfort and safety are my top priorities. About: I have grown up with dogs of all sizes and ages my entire life. My grandparents had a farm with 10-15 rescues at a time. I’ve had jack russles, Great Danes, labs, & pitties. I’ve been dog sitting all ages and sizes since I was 10 (cats too!) I also have experience with aggressive / reactive dogs and know how to keep them comfortable especially on walks. I am a helicopter dog mom and super particular about how my dogs are taken care of and I will be that way with your dogs too! I work Monday-Thursday with a super flexible schedule so I’m available most weekends and sometimes during the week for drop ins and dog walks. I have a 11 year old and 1 year old dog so I am used to stricter instructions and think it’s super important to follow them for the dogs safety and well being!
“Aaron was absolutely amazing caring for our 3 doggies for 9 days. We were super nervous to leave them, but Aaron made us feel stress free. He was super communicative with morning, afternoon, and nighttime check-ins with pictures and how they spent their days. He went above and beyond, even cleaning, washing the linens, and leaving a delicious blueberry breakfast treat. He was exceptional. Our dogs loved him and he will definitely be our go-to person from now on.”

About: I've taken care of dogs since I was 10 years old. I was a sea turtle rehab intern 2 years ago and volunteer every weekend at the animal shelter. I'm available for boarding on the weekends and always love taking pups to the park every Saturday and Sunday for pup cups. I love taking pictures of pups when on adventures. I have two very friendly pups that love new friends. They are always excited to play ans share toys. I can separate pets if your fur baby needs space.

About: I’ve been dog sitting for about 4 years and have experience caring for pets with special medical needs. My own dog has separation anxiety, depression, and receives injections at home, so I’m comfortable with extra care and medication. I’ve also cared for my cousin’s dog with epilepsy, including administering medication and staying calm during seizures. I love getting to know every pet’s unique personality and treat each one like they’re my own. I’m a student at the University of South Carolina with a flexible schedule that gives me plenty of time to care for your pets. I’d love to start by offering dog walks and drop-in visits, and I’m also happy to provide pet sitting as needed. I have reliable transportation throughout Columbia, pay close attention to routines and instructions, and always provide a calm, caring environment. I’ll keep you updated with photos and messages so you can have peace of mind while you’re away.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Capitol View walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Capitol View maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Capitol View choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Capitol View. On Rover:
- 97% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
