“This was our first time having someone we didn’t know watch our pups. Elizabeth put our minds at ease so we could enjoy some time away by how professional, caring, and thorough she was with the dogs. She kept up up to date, but wasn’t over the top about it at all, and walked, played with, and fed them on time every day. We could not have been happier and will definitely use her again!”

“Vicki is a God send! Reliable, responsible, courteous and absolutely wonderful with my two dogs. I have utilized Vicki for both drop in visits and overnight stays, which have ranged from weekend stays to full week stays. Vicki is great with open communication and provides regular updates, including photos. She is also very flexible with her schedule and answers reservation requests within 24 hours. I would highly recommend this pet sitter! A+++”

“I wouldn’t hesitate to use Joey again! He not only took great care of my dogs but my house was just like I left it! He loves your pets as if they were his own and keeps in touch to let you know how they’re doing.”

“Richard cared for our 16 year old cat that has chronic health issues. Our cat takes several medications twice a day and eats a prescription diet. He did a great job, was very responsive, responsible and would contact me if he had a question. We felt like we left our cat and home in good hands. I will hire Richard again in the future when we need someone to look after our cat.”

“Haley was fantastic with our two dogs! We were concerned about leaving them with someone they didn't know, but she really put our minds at ease. Of course, they loved her! We especially loved getting her photo text updates.”

“Aziya was very attentive, came to the house for all information regarding her stay and care for Brie. Brie was very happy and healthy when we came home. House was clean, sheets and towels washed. She was very responsive, sent us pics and updates.”

“Sharon and James sat with our guys in home for a week, did great with the indoor pets and the poultry didn’t scare them off. Everything went well, they were very communicative throughout, and everyone was calm and happy when we got back!”

“Taylor was very accommodating. She was kind, thoughtful and attentive to Jackson’s needs. We’ve been utilizing Rover for years and would recommend her to anyone that loves their dog like we do…”

About: I have had cats and dogs growing up. I would play fetch with my dogs all the time and just hang with my cats watching TV I work full time at a hospital but I do get Tuesdays off every week and don't work ever other weekend and every other friday With living in town I do leash my dogs when she does come down from my mom's. I do also put my cats in a backpack when going for walks
About: I have taken care of dogs since I was a kid. We have always had at least one dog in the house if not more. In the past 6 years I have helped my parents to puppy train twice. I love dogs unconditionally, but I am not afraid to show a little tough love when needed. I’m currently going back to school and attend a lot of local sporting events but I still make it a priority to take my dog for a walk daily. Whether we fit in a walk before I leave in the morning or in-between class and a game, I know how much she loves her walks. I also make sure to give her ample play time when I am home. I make sure that whether the pet is in a fenced in yard or not I am always keeping an eye on them when outside. I always respect the clients wishes regarding their animal being on furniture, in what rooms, and such on.
“Edward did a great job for us. He and our dog Buddy got along famously, and he was especially diligent about keeping us informed about Buddy’s time with him. Edward stayed with Buddy for five days and kept us up-to-date throughout. Additionally, the house was left in perfect condition. We will certainly use Edward for our next trip away.”
“Gigi is so sweet. She took really good care of Kalex and made us feel at ease that he was in her care. Gigi provided us with updates. You can tell she really cares and loves dogs.”

“Fran is a very friendly, kind-hearted person who loves dogs! She took great care of our doggie and gave us updates on how he was doing - which put our minds at ease. Would definitely call on her again!”

About: Hello! My name is Jahlea and I have always had animals in my house, those with and without fur, including fish, axolotls, hamsters, guinea pigs, a medium-sized terrier mix rescue dog and 2 large labradors. I have cared for and have loved my pets with all of my heart and I plan to do the same for your big and little ones as well. I have over 12 years of experience caring for various animals including bunnies, bearded dragons, dogs, cats, and fish. My specialty is caring for dogs and cats including those that are needing medicine (by injection or pill), are seniors, or have special needs. I am also a frequent petsitter for foster dogs so I have lots of experience with dogs that have emotional and behavioral issues and the patience and care it takes while they learn what it means to be loved again. I look forward to setting up a meet and greet with you and your furry friends! I will make sure that your pets feel comfortable and safe just as you would and I cant wait to give them lots of love!
“Montana was great! On time and stayed in contact the entire time we were gone. She sent updates and pictures putting our minds at ease. Lucy seemed to take to her right away which spoke volumes. Will definitely use her again and again.”

About: I have taken care of various pets off the Rover app over the past couple years (clients, family, friends). I love animals and I would be delighted to be able to watch after your pets. I am currently a college student, so I will have to work around class schedules. I would be free mornings before classes start (10 am or earlier), between classes occasionally (around 1pm), and most evenings after my classes. Weekends have full availability. I would be willing to do any care necessary for your pets, including walking them. If there is anything specific, I am able to accommodate that.
“Paulina was a lifesaver for us and was able to accommodate a very short request period and provided excellent care. She continually reached out to us with pictures and videos of our puppy and let us know how the day was going. She had very appropriate questions regarding his care and completed all of our requests without issue. We're very lucky to have found her and appreciate the work she does!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of September 2026, there are 503 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Canadice. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Canadice walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Canadice maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Canadice choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Canadice. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
