“Kate was an absolutely amazing caregiver for my Westie! She was quick to respond to communication and I felt completely at ease at drop off. The large, fenced-in yard is such a great space and the home and areas where the pets are kept is clean and tidy. Pictures were sent throughout his stay and I’ve already booked her again! So happy to have found Kate!”

I was nervous to leave my dog somewhere unfamiliar but they were so patient with her and I would 100% consider leaving Reese with them again if we’re in the area. I appreciated how they made me and Reese comfortable and her safe while in their care.”

“Excellent hosts! Even before I finished dropping off my 20lb Cavalier mix Lindsy was already figuring out what terms he listens to and how he likes to play. When I picked him up he wasn’t interested in water(meaning he had already had his fill), his eyes were clean, and he was that perfect level of tired that showed he had been played with well. I will be back and would suggest Lindsy and her home to anyone.”

“Our lab received excellent care and lots of love while boarding with Jeffrey on his farm. Jeffrey was professional, very knowledgeable and experienced, an excellent communicator, and has a terrific spacious set up for dogs to safely play inside and out. We received plentiful Pupdates and photos of Mcgrath during her stay and could see she was well-cared for and happy! Jeffrey also gave her medicine. Definitely recommend a stay with Jeffrey!!”

About: I've had pets in my life since the day I was born, and as a teen I spent several years working in an animal shelter, caring for animals and working with the health team. I'm experienced with puppies, elderly dogs, dogs with behavioral challenges, and visually impaired and deaf animals. I've also cared for dogs with serious health needs like cancer and diabetes. I'm not a vet or vet tech, but I'm comfortable with basic care like changing a bandage, and I know how to respond in an emergency and reach the nearest emergency care. I also sit cats, birds, small critters, and reptiles. For dogs, I like to start with a meet and greet, so I ask for as much advance notice as possible, though I'm flexible in emergencies. If you'd like, I can also arrange grooming and specialized training as an additional service while your pet is in my care, provided through a licensed groomer and trainer. Your pet will be treated like family. I work from home, so I offer daytime care during work hours as well as overnight boarding while you travel. Your pet gets plenty of one-on-one time and extra TLC when needed. All pet care happens in my home on a quiet street in the Village of Manchester. I work remotely, so your pet is never left alone for long. Dogs get lots of one-on-one time, and I'm happy to send updates so you always know how your pet is doing. I start with a neutral meet and greet to make sure everyone gets along with my dog Leo. I have a large backyard with natural tree lines and barriers, but safety comes first. Any dog in my care stays on a leash or tie out whenever they're outside, with no exceptions, even if a yard is fenced. I'm happy to take short walks into the yard, and if your pet prefers pet pads, I can provide those. Cats get a quiet room behind closed doors, separate from my own cats, and can stay in their crate, come out, or sit with me in my office. I know how to respond in an emergency and how to reach the nearest emergency care.

Sunny is an investigator and enjoyed all the opportunities for adventure with Maria and her family. Maria sent photos and messages throughout the week, which we appreciated. When we need another boarding opportunity we will absolutely contact Maria.”

About: I love taking care of animals full time! I've had my own cats and dogs for over 17 years. Bella, a rat terrier mix (Bella passed in June of 2018) and Marley, a lab/greyhound who passed in 2025. I used to volunteer with Another Chance Pet Rescue fostering puppies and dogs until they found their Forever Homes so I’m familiar with all types and breeds of dogs. I've had experience with puppies, training and the needs of older pets as well as helping those who are anxious, scared or have come from so not so good homes. I just recently moved to the village of Lima but am familiar with all surrounding areas of Rochester. I enjoy walking, playing and taking hikes with dogs. My availability is flexible to fit your needs. I've had experience with a wide variety of dogs from a Chihuahua, Dachshund to Huskies and Pit Bulls. I also take care of small animals including cats, rabbits, gerbils, guinea pigs, hermit crabs, chickens, etc. and have recently expanded into Horses and goats ❤️ Pricing: Pricing is noted for dogs and cats only and is Per pet. I am flexible with adjusting rates depending on your needs and how many pets you have so please contact me. Walking and visits: This entails at least a 30 minute visit with your pets and I also send you a report card at the end of the visit with photos, potty breaks and what we did. House Sitting/Overnight visits: These entail 4 visits per day. Generally my times would be morning/breakfast, lunch, evening/dinner and once again before bed. If you need more visits I can adjust my schedule and rates to fit your needs. I do not spend the night with your pets unless for reasons it’s necessary or requested. I send daily photos and communicate how your pets are doing throughout the day. I will also bring in your mail and water plants:) I am currently pet sitting full time and taking care of my beautiful 10 year old daughter who occasionally helps me. My schedule is very flexible to fit your pets daily routine. I feel pets do better in their own surroundings and sticking to their daily routines. I’ll be watching your pets in their own home, making sure they are safe, comfortable and most important happy while you’re away!

About: I’ve grown up with dogs my entire life and have cared for several family dogs over the years, including American Akitas and a Husky and Australian Shepherd mix. I’m comfortable with different breeds, personalities, and energy levels. I enjoy walks, playtime, and making sure each dog feels safe, comfortable, and cared for while you’re away. I recently graduated and am currently looking for a job, which gives me a flexible schedule during the week and on weekends. I have plenty of time to provide pets with attention, playtime, walks, and companionship. I enjoy making sure pets stay active, happy, and comfortable while their owners are away. I have a comfortable home with plenty of trees, nearby walking trails, and a river area where dogs can enjoy outdoor time. Since my yard is not fenced, I always use a leash and supervise dogs during potty breaks and walks to make sure they stay safe. I also have my own cat, Eartha, who is friendly and enjoys meeting people. I understand that every pet has their own personality, so I take the time to help them feel comfortable and follow each owner’s instructions to provide the best care possible.

About: I’ve had multiple dogs for 20 years. We currently only have one 10 year old mixed breed little boy but he is used to being with other dogs. I’m experienced with giving meds and injections. We can go for long or short walks, whatever works for your pet. My dog is crate trained but spends most of his time at my feet or laying in bed. FAQs for Dog Boarding - Canadice

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of November 2026, there are 301 sitters on Rover offering Dog Boarding across Canadice. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.

94% of sitters in Canadice can provide daily exercise during dog boarding stays. Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, this may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.

During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.

Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Canadice home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:

  • Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
  • Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
  • Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Canadice.

Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Canadice. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 94% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

You and your Canadice sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Adding another pup to the pack? Most sitters and walkers offer a reduced rate for additional dogs. You’ll find these exact rates listed under the "Services" tab on any sitter's profile. Since every dog is unique, final pricing may vary depending on the level of care required.
