Maryna is a great sitter. She loves dogs and was so sweet to my dog Blossom. Blossom adores her and is so excited when she shows up. Maryna is also a very kind person and easy to deal with. She stays on task and devotes her time to the animal. She follows feeding directions and walking directions. I highly recommend her. Rena

Alison has taken care of my 3 dogs overnight a few times now. They’re a lot and she does great! I come home and my dogs are happy and clearly have been loved while I’m out. She also handles one of my dogs eye medications for which I am very grateful!

This was our first time using Brad to sit at our house with our dog, Winni. Everything went smoothly. He gave us an update every day and sent pictures. The first night he was at our house, our power went out!!!Brad was very capable and calm and assured us that it was no problem. We would definitely use Brad again.

Bree was amazing with Ludo and Bowie! Super communicative and sent lots of pictures while we were away for a long weekend. Left the house spotless and even ran the laundry. The pups obviously enjoyed their time and perked up when I mentioned Bree's name. Thank you! Will absolutely book again.

Giselle is hands down the best sitter we’ve had. She went above and beyond in every way. Our elderly cat, who is usually skittish with new people, took to, her right away. My dog Cody was smitten, and we felt at ease the whole time we were gone. The pictures we received each day were proof positive they were happy. Giselle has a real gift with animals. This was our very first Rover experience, and we hit the Jackpot with her!

Mary Ann was very professional, a great communicator and very detail oriented! She took notes, was kind and considerate, and we felt our dog and cat were in extremely good hands and very safe with her, especially since my pup has allergies and can be a bit manipulative at times! Highly recommended!

Kate spent two weeks with our 17 year old cat, Hunter. For the first four nights she also cared for our 5 year old Labrador retriever, Orli. Kate provided daily updates & great photos. It was obvious from the photos that both Hunter & Orli were comfortable and relaxed with Kate. Kate had no problem giving Hunter his twice daily insulin injections & keeping him on his feeding/meds schedule. It’s a comfort to know your fur babies are well cared for when you are away. We will definitely book Kate again to care for Hunter & Orli!

We recently met and hired Danuta to overnight sit for our pets for several days. Each day we received updates and pictures throughout the day to let us know how our babies were doing. It was so reassuring to know that they were happy and content while we were gone. She took them outside very often to play fetch and for exercise. Our pets bonded with Danuta very fast. Danuta followed all of our instructions and she asked questions if needed. We returned to a very happy house of pets and our house was nice and clean just the way we left it. We will most certainly rebook Danuta and I would highly recommend her to anyone that needs pet care. She is very caring, friendly, and trustworthy. Thank you Danuta! We appreciate all that you did to make sure our pets were happy and active.

Cheryl was fantastic with Apple. She doesn't just love dogs, she has done her reseach to understand dogs and applies it. This is what I look for and trust in a sitter. She is extrmeely respectful as stated in her profile to apply your routine's as to not disrupt your dog's current lifestyle. /i can't speak highly enough about Cheryl. Thanks again for loving our dog the way we do.

About: Hello! My name is Lauren and I have cared for and owned animals all my life. I have training experience from multiple classes and I volunteered at an animal shelter for a while. I have experienced all different breeds and temperaments in dogs and I love them all! I currently have a dog and cat, my dog is very active and loves to go on hikes! I love working out and getting all my steps in, so I can provide lots of exercise for your pup! Your pet will be in great hands, I am super attentive and will ensure they are loved and happy! I love meeting new people and caring for animals! I appriciate details and would love to hear about your pets:) I am currently living at home for summer, I attend Rutgers University in the fall. As far as availability I am free almost everyday of the week! I always ensure that any dog I’m caring for is leashed unless I know the area is secure. Any specific safety instructions provided to me will be implemented effectively. I understand that our pet can have specific needs and safety protocols!

Kate truly went above and beyond! I had some last-minute changes in the middle of my booking, but she kindly stood by me and helped sort everything out, demonstrating her big love for animals. I really like her and will definitely call her again whenever I need someone, and she's always willing to take care of my babies. They had a wonderful time, and even to this day, they still look for her.

Danuta was absolutely fantastic - she and my dog became instant friends! She did in-house care for us as a huge heat wave hit, and she made little dog popsicles for my pooch to help keep her cool and have a fun treat. They went in walks and explored daily - Danuta was great, and will be a regular dog sitter/walker for us!!

Jennifer was wonderful, and we highly recommend her. She stayed in our home for 9 days, taking excellent care of our dog, Luna, as well as our fish, Bluey, and our plants. She communicated daily, often multiple times, sending thoughtful updates and photos that gave us great peace of mind. Seeing Luna happy and well cared for made being away much easier. Jennifer went above and beyond, caring for Luna, maintaining Bluey, watering our plants, and keeping our home in great condition. We returned to a happy dog, thriving plants, a well-cared-for fish, and a spotless house. She is responsible, kind, and attentive, and we would absolutely trust her again.

Katie & Zayn were an absolute life saver when we found ourselves a few days away from a trip with no pet sitter. As soon as we met them, we felt comfortable leaving our home and our furry crew in their capable hands. Our dog in particular loved them immediately. They were prompt, professional, had excellent communication and provided many pictures during their stay. Our pets were well taken care of and it was easy to see that while we were away. Katie and Zayn - thank you for taking such great care of our pets!! ❤️

Mike did a great job with our crew while we were traveling over Spring Break. FAQs for House Sitting - Caldwell

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Caldwell on Rover is $99.9 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 18,699 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Caldwell. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Caldwell walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Caldwell maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Caldwell choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Caldwell. On Rover:

  • 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
