I live in a condo but we go for 3 walks away, our lunch time walk is an hour, in the mornings and normally to the dog park after work, but that’s only if your dog is comfortable with dog parks. “I contacted Dorothy months ahead about a drop-in type visit while my husband and I were to be visiting Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, from California for a family wedding. I scheduled with Dorothy to come to our travel trailer in the Living Forest Campground and RV Park for the Meet n Greet to not only meet us, but how to get in our trailer, all about the dogs and their needs. Dorthy listened to all that was needed and then contacted me by text during the scheduled evening when we were gone to let us know she’d been there and handled everything. There were three dogs to walk in two trailers and Dorothy fed each one and took them for walks to get their business done; what a lifesaver she was so that we could be gone for an extended time and all was handled. I recommend Dorothy without hesitation and will use her again if we ever come back to Nanaimo.”

About: Animals have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’ve cared for and raised animals of all kinds, from puppies and rescue dogs to farm animals and small pets. My own rescue dog, Indigo, taught me so much about patience, compassion, and attentive care as I supported her through both IVDD and cancer. Through that experience, I became very comfortable with medication routines, mobility support, changing needs, and providing calm, loving care through every stage of an animal’s life. I’ve also raised puppies and lived on a farm where I regularly cared for large farm dogs and cats. Over the years, I’ve had experience caring for many different animals, including parrots, snakes, hamsters, fish, rabbits, and other small pets. I genuinely love getting to know each animal’s unique personality and needs, and I always strive to make them feel safe, understood, and cared for while their owners are away. I work from home and have a very flexible schedule, which allows me to give pets lots of attention, consistency, and care throughout the day. I’m also a very active person and usually spend hours outside walking every day, so I’d genuinely love some furry companionship along the way - whether your dog prefers long adventures, slower sniff walks, or lots of playtime and attention. I live in a detached home with a fully fenced backyard and no other animals in the home, creating a calm and safe environment for your pet. I take animal care very seriously and have always treated every pet - whether my own or someone else’s - with patience, attentiveness, and genuine love. I cared for my sweet dog Indigo through both IVDD and cancer, which gave me firsthand experience supporting animals with medical needs, mobility limitations, medication routines, and changing comfort levels. About: I have a professional background in the veterinary industry and have worked with animals all my life. I will care for and love your pets just the way I would my own. I special in welfare and behaviour so even pets with special needs are welcome alongside me. I usually only work in the early mornings and am off early afternoon so I would have plenty of time to come visit your animals and take them or walks, feed them and love them as my own. I have ample time to dedicate to any animal, I love being outdoors and am a runner so if your pet is willing and able to accompany me on my jogs they are more than welcome. I have a crate and a seatbelt equipped in my vehicle for safe travelling as well as a pet first aid kit to ensure I am always prepared.

While I'm not ready for another dog of my own, I'd love to share my time and pet care skills temporarily, giving your dog a loving experience while you are away. I understand separation anxiety, etc, and how difficult it can be to go away without them. I have a flexible schedule and, with enough notice, can plan to be with your dog 24/7 while you are away, so that they have constant companionship, exercise, and care. With a pre-meet, I can learn what type of environment, activity, and care is best suited so that your dog's experience meets their needs and your expectations. Your peace of mind is my goal! I do ask for you to fill out a form about your pet's needs/personality prior to taking care of your beloved and at least 1 (ideally 2) meet and greets, so I can understand them better and ensure I'm a good match for their care:)
