“Breanna was amazing with Shylah!! She was super reliable, communicative, and followed all of our instructions perfectly, including giving Shylah her medication. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing she was in good hands while we were away. Shylah was well taken care of and we would absolutely book with Breanna again. Highly recommend!”

About: I recognize the anxiety your pet experiences when you're not present and the challenge of finding a caregiver who will provide exceptional love and attention. I aim to ensure my new furry friend feels comforted and loved during this time, while also providing reassurance for their owners. Working remotely provides me with a flexible schedule, allowing for multiple visits and walks throughout the day to help fit your pets needs each day. I offer 15 minute drop ins to feed/water and play with your pet or 30 minute walks. Our family dog Ford has a life full of excitement, having 5 kids he gets a ton of love and attention. So when we’re gone on a trip I know he’s sad and lonely … I want to provide a safe and loving experience for your FUR baby as I know the feeling having to leave a big part of your family behind.
“Lana was amazing with our pups! She went above and beyond to make sure they were happy and comfortable while we were away and she is a master dog walker! I would highly recommend Lana to anyone who's looking for a sitter that will give their fur babies extra TLC.”

“We were nervous hiring someone for the first time and Tina’s profile stood out. We met her in person before the services and she seemed like a wonderful person. She watched our cat for 2 days and we got so many pictures and videos. Our boy liked her from the moment he met her during meet and greet and I think she liked him too. Wonderful service and we highly recommend her. We are happy to have found someone that we can use again to watch our pets. Thank you Tina”

About: I’ve had dogs my entire life. I grew up with my childhood dog and cared for him for 17 years until he passed away. I now have three huskies, so taking care of dogs is a big part of my everyday life. I’m reliable, patient, and comfortable with high-energy dogs. I know how important it is to have someone you trust taking care of your pets while you’re away, and I’ll follow their normal routine, give them plenty of attention, and keep you updated with pictures along the way. I’m available throughout the week for walks, drop-ins, and overnight stays. I’m happy to coordinate schedules in advance and keep your pet’s normal routine as consistent as possible while you’re away. I’ll follow the routine and instructions you leave for your pets and make sure they’re safe and comfortable while in my care. I’m careful when coming and going, especially with doors, gates, and leashes. I’ll also treat your home with the same care and respect I would my own and keep you updated while you’re away.
About: I’ve been a pet owner my entire life and truly believe pets are part of the family. I’m comfortable caring for dogs and cats of all personalities, ages, and sizes. I’m offering walks, drop-in visits, and pet sitting, and I’ll treat your fur baby with the same love, patience, and attention I give my own pets. I know how important it is to feel comfortable leaving your pets in someone else’s care, so I’ll keep you updated with plenty of photos and communication along the way! Working from home gives me a lot of flexibility in my day, which makes pet care a really natural fit for my lifestyle. I genuinely enjoy being around animals and find it incredibly rewarding to care for them, whether that means going for a walk, giving them some extra attention and playtime, or simply keeping them company while their family is away. I do have a family, so I’m mindful about planning my schedule around our family commitments. That said, working from home gives me the flexibility to organize my time thoughtfully and make sure I can be present and attentive when caring for your pets. I’d love the opportunity to treat your pets like part of the family and give them the same love, patience, and care I’d want for my own! Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I know how much trust it takes to leave your beloved pet and your home in someone else’s care, so I treat that responsibility very seriously. I take the time to learn your pet’s routine, personality, needs, and any special instructions so they feel comfortable and cared for while you’re away. I’m attentive to doors, gates, leashes, surroundings, and anything that could potentially put a pet at risk. I also treat every home with the same respect and care I would want for my own. Most importantly, I want you to feel completely comfortable and confident while your pet is with me. I’ll communicate with you, provide updates and photos, and make sure your furry family member gets plenty of love, attention, and patience while you’re away. ❤️

About: I have experience taking care of dogs because I grew up with them. Being around dogs has always felt natural to me, so I understand the basics of feeding them, walking them, playing with them, keeping them comfortable, and paying attention to what they need. I’m gentle, patient, and attentive, but I’m also playful, so I enjoy making sure dogs are not just cared for, but actually happy and engaged. I know every dog has their own personality, routine, and comfort level, so I would always respect the owner’s instructions and take time to understand what works best for their dog. I’m currently in college and home for the summer, so my schedule is very open and flexible. I’m available for walks, playtime, drop-ins, and consistent care throughout the week. I’m happy to work with your dog’s routine and make scheduling easy for you. I care for pets by keeping their routine as normal and comfortable as possible. In a client’s home, I would follow their instructions carefully, whether that includes feeding, walks, playtime, potty breaks, medication, or general house rules. I want pets to feel safe, comfortable, and genuinely cared for. For walks or visits, I would stay aware of my surroundings, keep dogs secure on their leash, avoid unsafe situations, and pay attention to how they’re acting. My goal is for the pet to feel cared for and for the owner to feel relaxed knowing their dog is safe and in good hands.
“Fantastic experience. Cindy was excellent in taking care of my pups. I felt ease during vacation knowing my pups were in good hands. Will definitely book Cindy again in the future.”

About: I’ve had all types of dogs and cats throughout my 58 years of life. I currently have two beautiful Rottweilers whom I love dearly. Now that I’m retired, my goal is to get some land and have an animal rescue. I like spending time with animals more than people. I am retired so my days are spent spending time with my two Rottweilers and going to the gym and that’s about it. I have plenty of time to help care for animals that need me. I will care for your dog in whatever way you request. My schedule with them will be exactly what you want it to be. Both my Rottweilers sleep in my bed with me so if your dogs normally sleep in the bed with you, I will do that too. Actually it’s my favorite 🥰. I get sad when I have to leave my Rottweilers with family only because I know they’ll miss sleeping with me, going to their favorite park and chasing the ball, and spending the entire day with me. Animals get used to their routine and it stresses them out and makes them sad when they don’t get to do their normal things and spend time with their people. So I will try to make them as happy as they can be while you’re gone.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
