“If I could leave 10 stars I would. Jill and her family were the best! I broke my tibia and fibula back in July and it’s been hard handling an 100+ pound German Shepherd so I was nervous about leaving him with other people, but I was so wrong. In these few days Jill has helped him calm down and just slow down in general. I was able to walk him for the first time in 6 months because of her. It’s like I have a new dog, I cried lol. I can’t believe how above and beyond she went. I’m so grateful to have come across her profile because I have been contemplating on giving him to someone who could handle him but I don’t have to do that now. She was always amazing with sending little pics and updates. Big shout out to Jill and the fam❤️ 100000/10 Forsureeee”

“Emily and family treated our Briggs like their own. They went on walks, cozied up by the fire and had a sleepover in the living room because he can’t get up stairs very well. I was sent pictures and he looked happy and content! We will be sure to give Emily a call next time we need someone to watch Briggs!”

“Loved having Jess take care of our big pup! He was welcomed into her family for our extended vacation and he immediately felt comfortable and at home! (He’s a little anxious so this was a big deal!). We got regular updates and photos. Will 100% use her again!”

“Shalyn, Joseph and their family were awesome with our Jazzi and Lady! Sadie, their dog is super friendly and easy going. They all got a long great! The kids pampered our fur babies and we're so gentle with them. Fenced in yard and plenty of room to run. They walked them regularly and updates were super. We are lucky to have found them here on Rover. Highly recommend!”

“Stella was attentive and loving to our little old little lady. It was Lola’s first time with a sitter other than family in her own home in her whole life. To say we were nervous for Lola and Stella’s family would be an understatement. We feel thoroughly blessed to have had Lola’s first sleepover at Stella’s and hope to book with her again soon!”

“We are very happy with the care our puppy received during the nine days she was with Deanne. We received an update with pictures approximately every two days. We would not hesitate to book with her again.”

“We had a wonderful experience with JoAnne. Our lab dog, Charlie got very spoiled for the short time we had him stay with JoAnne. She kept us informed oh how he was doing and sent us pics to put us at ease. We will definitely use her again!!! Charlie got a doggie bag to take home with a tennis bag and treats. Very nice of her to make him feel so special.”

“Angela & Dave took great care of Scout. Angela was very communicative and sent photo updates throughout the stay. Scout made new friends with their dogs and the others staying too.”

“Autumn did a wonderful job taking care of our dog Aspen. Our dog was comfortable with her on the spot. Autumn was great at communicating with me throughout her stay. I will book again in the future and I highly recommend her to anyone who needs help with their animals.”

“Cheyenne was amazing! I will definitely be using her again. She was very accommodating in the drop off and pick up times and shared pictures and videos throughout the stay. I felt comfortable that my two pups were well taken care of and having a blast with all of her dogs. My flight was completely cancelled due to the weather and I had to stay out of town an extra day. Cheyenne was so understanding and just made it work. She is so knowledgeable about dogs and just an all around amazing sitter! Thank you, Cheyenne from Callie, Remi and I!”
“Melody did so amazing at comforting our king and us when we dropped King off! It’s the most comfortable he’s been during a drop off as he usually has anxiety. Communication was great and we loved the pics and videos of the time they spent together. Thank you Melody for taking great care of our fur baby.!”

“First time EVER finding a sitter for our dog that we did not know personally. Our pup Dozer has fear aggression and does not do well with kids. We were worried we wouldn’t be able to find someone to care for him when we are away but Cheryl and Jim pulled through! Dozer relaxed after a few hours and seemed to be the good boy he is. Zero issues and zero calls! He was spoiled while we were away and came home in perfect condition. My husband and I are excited that we found someone to watch our baby that we can fully trust! We will definitely have these two watch Dozer again! 100/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Thank you so much for easing our anxiety and for providing a safe space for Dozer.”

“Sabrina and her husband were great! We got pictures daily, multiple times a day of our fur babies. She communicated with me on how they were behaving and eating as my male dog does not eat well when he is not with us. They were taken on walks daily and seemed overall happy with their stay, We will be using Sabrina again in the future.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Bull Valley home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Bull Valley.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Bull Valley sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
