If your dog is nervous with strangers, I'll take the first visit slowly — sitting on the floor, letting them come to me, no forcing. Same with cats: some need a week before they'll eat in front of you, and that's fine. Walks and outings. Every dog goes out on a properly fitted collar or harness and a leash I check before we leave. I keep dogs away from other dogs unless you've told me they're friendly, and I avoid busy roads, hot pavement, and unfamiliar off-leash areas. In warm weather I test the asphalt with my hand before we walk on it — if it's too hot for me to hold, it's too hot for paws. Health and emergencies. Before I leave for work I will feed and let out and play for a few until it’s time. I do not have a fenced in area but I do have a ground leash that give your pets the ability to run around and sniff out different areas.
