“Really appreciate Joslin's help with Arthur. He can sometimes get separation anxiety and shed a lot after a trip, but he didn't have that at all. She was also flexible with some of his feeding issues. 10/10 would recommend!”

About: My daughter Trenna and I grew up with dogs and cats and we love all their different personalities and they bring so much joy to our lives. When you get a dog it’s a commitment. They are our kids. I am looking for a partime job. What a fun opportunity to do something I love. I have three dogs/kids myself. I can’t wait to get home from work and. see their wiggly tails. They don’t care what kind of day you just had, they just want to love on you. When I am home they are wherever I am. During the day they are in their kennels. Two of them are not even 2 yet so they like their toys.

“Amanda was very communicative throughout the entire process and did an incredible job checking in on my cat. Would 100% recommend Amanda and will definitely be using her services again in the future!”

“Thank you for another bunch stellar bunch of visits! Bonus points for making sure my flowers didn’t wither away in the heat, sending details from every visit so we don’t worry, and super cute pics of our cats interacting with her daughter 😊 Will definitely book again!”

“This is our second time booking drop in visits with Ronda for our cats- both have been great experiences! She’s reliable and easy to work with. Easy to communicate with and extremely competent! Not to mention she was readily available over the holiday so we could visit family out of town.”

“Kristin was great with drop-ins for our kitty. She kept his litter box clean, water bowl full, and took time for some lap cuddles with him. Thanks so much for taking such good care while we were away!!”

“Marley was amazing with our pups while out of town. She was very communicative and supportive of our pups’ needs. She went above and beyond cleaning our home when a couple unexpected accidents happened and was flexible by coming extra times to give our pups more outside time. We are planning to continue working with her as she showed genuine caring for our pups. Also, I want to note that one of our dogs can be anxious/reactive with humans, and she did incredibly well with him!”

Since I work from home, I have a flexible schedule that allows me to check in on your pets multiple times throughout the day, ensuring they receive plenty of attention, potty breaks, exercise, and love. As a fellow dog mom, I know how stressful it can be to leave your fur baby behind. That’s why I treat every pet as if they were my own. Whether it’s snuggles on the couch, daily walks, playtime, or simply keeping them company, my goal is to make sure your pet feels safe, happy, and loved while you’re away—so you can enjoy your time with complete peace of mind. I have a flexible work-from-home schedule that allows me to prioritize your pet’s needs throughout the day. Whether it’s a morning walk, midday potty break, evening snuggles, playtime, or simply checking in for some extra love and attention, I’m available to visit your pet several times a day. My goal is to keep their routine as normal as possible so they feel happy, comfortable, and well cared for while you’re away. I do my best to keep their routine as consistent as possible, providing familiar schedules, plenty of love, patience, and personalized attention to help them feel safe and at ease. I’d also be happy to schedule a meet-and-greet before your trip so your pet has the chance to get to know me, helping everyone feel more comfortable before the stay.
“Vanessa was excellent! She watched our dog in April and he was in great hand the whole time we were gone. She put our minds at ease and sent us updates with pictures! Thanks again!!”

“Arianne was great with our boy Carbon. It was his first time spending a night without me or my husband present since we got him 3+ years ago, and she made sure that it wasn't a bad experience for him. We definitely went overboard when it came to providing information about him, but Arianne was able to handle it all without issue. 6/5.”

About: With 15 years of pet care experience, I've built a reputation as the sitter friends and family turn to when they need someone they can truly trust. Growing up surrounded by dogs and cats gave me an intuitive understanding of pet behavior, and over the years I've cared for countless breeds - from gentle giants to tiny lap dogs, anxious rescues to energetic puppies. What makes me different is my versatility and adaptability. I'm equally comfortable managing multi-dog households, caring for dogs and cats simultaneously, and adjusting to each pet's unique personality and needs. Whether you have a senior dog requiring gentle, patient care or a high-energy breed that needs extra playtime, I know how to read their cues and provide exactly what they need to feel safe and loved. My experience with diverse breeds and household dynamics means I can handle whatever curveballs your pets might throw - from managing pack dynamics to understanding breed-specific behaviors. I take pride in maintaining each pet's individual routine while ensuring harmony in multi-pet homes. You'll receive regular updates and photos throughout my visits, so you can relax knowing your furry family members are not just being watched, but truly cared for by someone who understands that every pet is someone's beloved companion. I have a flexible weekend schedule that allows me to prioritize your pet's needs. Having recently moved to western South Dakota, I'm excited to build lasting relationships with local pet owners and become a trusted part of this community. My open availability means I can easily accommodate various scheduling needs - whether you need early morning walks, midday check-ins, overnight stays, or last-minute care. I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals, so pet sitting never feels like work to me. It's actually the highlight of my day! I'm happy to work around your pet's established routine and can be flexible with timing to ensure they receive consistent, reliable care. Whether your pet thrives on a strict schedule or is more go-with-the-flow, I'll adapt to what works best for them and your family. I believe the key to excellent pet care is maintaining consistency with your pet's established routine and household rules. When caring for pets in your home, I take detailed notes about their daily schedule, feeding times, favorite spots, and any house rules—whether that means staying off certain furniture or having free rein of the couch. Your pet's comfort stems from familiarity, so I ensure that nothing changes from their normal routine. I provide the same level of attentive care - regular exercise, plenty of affection, and constant supervision. I also maintain open communication throughout, sending updates and photos so you can see how well your pet is settling in and enjoying their time with me.
About: I have a dog of my own named Finn, who I adore! He is a mini dachshund. I also grew up in a home with several animals, so caring for pets has always been a natural part of my life. I love cats and dogs equally, and I’ve volunteered at the Humane Society of the Black Hills as well. I am currently an accelerated nursing student at SDSU and my schedule works well for pet sitting. I also enjoy taking care of animals it’s very therapeutic for me so it works out. I’m pretty flexible when it comes to pet sitting in someone else’s home. I cannot do it in my own because it’s my mother’s house and she’s allergic to dogs. My own dog is with my husband while I am in nursing school. So I will compensate by getting all the love from the pets. I won’t be caring for pets in my own home, but I’m very comfortable providing care in your home and helping your pets stick to their normal routine. I also pet sit for my brother’s dog frequently, so I’m used to managing daily needs like feeding schedules, potty breaks, playtime, and companionship. I’m happy to take your pet on walks and make sure they’re fed, exercised, and getting plenty of attention and affection. I know how important it is for pets to feel safe and comfortable while you’re away, and I’ll do my best to keep things as normal for them as possible. I also don’t mind helping with light household chores during my visits, things like bringing in mail/packages, watering plants, taking out trash, or tidying up pet areas so you can come home to a clean, settled space.
“Morgan was an amazing dog sitter! I received timely updates and notifications, which was great as I was out of town. Morgan was clearly committed to helping Sam despite less than ideal weather conditions. Sam isn't easy to take care of either, he is a 14 1/2 year old, 100 pound golden retriever who is deaf and stubborn! Morgan helped with his routine with great ease. I will book her again without a doubt!”

“Fantastic! Nicole cared for our cat, fish, spider, and plants while we went out of town this summer. She did a fantastic job with everyone! She sent pictures and kept us up to date on the household. We will definitely use her whenever we travel! Thank you Nicole”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
