Total Distance: 1.6 miles / 33 minutes total walking time

Start your day in Philadelphia with a visit to the Schulykill River Park Dog Run, where a shaded area and water fountain will help you beat the heat. Next up, grab a fair-trade cup of iced coffee from Good Karma Cafe. Turn right onto S 25th Street and turn left on Panama Street before turning right onto S 23rd St. After skirting around Fitler Square, turn left onto Panama St and then a quick right onto S 22nd St and the destination will be on the right.

Next up, it’s time for delicious house-made dog treats from Metropolitan Bakery near Rittenhouse Square. Head North on S 22nd St toward Panama St and turn right onto Spruce Street before turning left onto S 19th St. The destination will be on the left.

Finish the day at another stellar dog park on Washington Square by heading south on S 19th St toward Spruce St, then turning left onto Lombard St, before turning right onto S 11th st. Finally, turn left onto Rodman St and the destination, Seger Dog Park, will be on the left.

Schuylkill River Park Dog Run

Address: 300 S 25th St, Philadelphia, PA 19103

A beautiful urban dog park with a shaded area, a water fountain, great run surfaces, and benches. Perfect for both energetic pups and weary pet parents trying to pop-a-squat.

Hours:

  • Daily, 24 hours a day

Why we love it:

Equipped with new ‘K9 grass,’ the Schuylkill River Park Dog Run is a well-maintained, scenic park in the heart of Philly. If your small dog would prefer not to hang with the big dogs, don’t worry—there’s a small-dogs section, tailor-made for little pups.

Good Karma Cafe

Address: 331 S 22nd St, Philadelphia, PA 19103

A cafe that brews organic, fair-trade coffee, using sustainable practices that serve the neighboring community.

Contact: (215) 546-1479

Hours:

  • Mon-Sun: 7am-10pm

Why we love it:

Good Karma Cafe does more than preach sustainability and eco-friendly business models, it also serves a great Fair Trade cup of joe and tasty treats. Your dog is welcome inside while you order and is always welcome on the back patio, while you catch your breath and enjoy breakfast.

Metropolitan Bakery (Rittenhouse Square)

Address: 262 S 19th St, Philadelphia, PA 19103

Freshly-baked breads, pastries, snacks, and famous granola are hand-crafted using locally sourced ingredients.

Contact: (215) 545-6655

Hours:

  • Mon-Fri: 7:30am-7:00pm
  • Sat-Sun: 8am-6pm

Why we love it:

As if the famous Metropolitan Bakery breads and pastries weren’t reason enough to make a quick detour, your dog can enjoy a cheap, all-natural dog-bone shaped treat, made in-house.

Seger Dog Park

Address: 1098 Rodman St, Philadelphia, PA 19147

Where Philly dogs go to play, Seger Dog Park is run by a non-profit created to ensure dogs always have a safe, enjoyable place to go in the city.

Contact: (215) 546-1479

Hours:

  • Daily, 24 hours a day

Why we love it:

The grassy hill of Seger Park gives dogs a safe, dedicated space for off-leash play. The Seger Park Dog Owner’s Association (SPDOA), a non-profit, does much more than provide a clean, fun area. They work to beautify the neighborhood, bring the surrounding community together, and even start clean-up initiatives to keep litter off the streets and out of the waterways.
