“Susan and her family love Penny like she’s their dog. When we pulled into the driveway, Penny couldn’t wait to get out of the car to see them again. There is no greater review than your dog joyfully going to their boarder! Susan sends the best pictures and videos to recap the day. Susan has always communicated quickly. She is our go to boarder for our girl.”

“Charles was great with my high energy girl. She had a great fenced in yard to wander and a convenient dog door as well. She got along great with his dog Pippa. Charles was also very accommodating and kind enough to pick her up and drop her off while I had my car in the shop. I would definitely use Charles as a sitter again!”

“Alison and Richard were the perfect Rover sitters for our pup! Before the booking, they offered us the opportunity to come over for a visit to make sure we, and the dog, felt comfortable in their home and with their dogs. During the stay, they sent updates and pictures letting us know how Tucker was doing, without being asked. For a dog mom who treats her dog like a child, this was the most relaxed we’ve been with leaving him since our recent move. We also love that Alison is home with the dog 24/7, something we appreciate for our semi-anxious dog who is used to a kennel at home or staying with family. We will most definitely be using them for future bookings!”

“Deborah was great! My puppy had so much fun with her other dogs and she already had a kennel and dog bowls we were able to use. We will definitely book with her again!”

About: Reliable and detailed oriented! I will get to know their personal needs , personality, and what works for them! Your pets second favorite human lol I am a body piercer. I work 10 minutes away from my home. I have a set time to take my puppy out as he is still going through potty training My apartment is pretty open for the fur babies to room around and I have a small fur baby of my own that can play with! There is a big area of grass around my complex where they can go potty and play and a dog park right up the street.
About: What sets me apart as a sitter is the hands‑on experience I’ve gained caring for my own dog with special adult needs, along with years of looking after friends’ dogs of all ages and personalities. I understand how important individualized care is — whether that means managing routines, providing extra patience, supporting mobility needs, or creating a calm environment for anxious pups. I’m comfortable with senior care, medication routines, and adapting to each dog’s unique preferences. Because I’ve lived it myself, I treat every dog like family, offering attentive, one‑on‑one care that keeps your furry family safe, comfortable, and genuinely happy while you’re away. Because I work full time from home, I’m able to maintain a consistent daily and weekly routine that allows me to give your furry family plenty of attention throughout the day. My schedule offers the flexibility to handle feeding times, outdoor breaks, play sessions, and individualized care. With my fenced yard and steady at‑home presence, your dog enjoys a safe environment, regular supervision, and a calm, predictable rhythm that keeps them comfortable and cared for while you’re away. In my home, dogs enjoy a calm, structured environment with plenty of attention, thanks to my full‑time work‑from‑home schedule and fenced‑in yard for safe outdoor time. My own senior dog sets a gentle, steady rhythm in the home, which helps visiting dogs feel relaxed and comfortable. I follow each pet’s routine closely—whether that means scheduled feedings, medication support, mobility assistance, or extra patience for anxious pups. With consistent supervision, personalized care, and a secure space to play and unwind, I make sure every dog feels safe, supported, and truly at home.
“I recently hired Michelle to care for my dog, and it was an amazing experience! From our first meeting, it was clear that Michelle is a true dog lover. She took the time to understand my dog's needs, which made me feel at ease. Throughout the stay, Michelle provided excellent care, ensuring my dog received plenty of love, exercise, and attention. She sent regular updates and adorable photos, and videos showing that my dog was enjoying his time. I wholeheartedly recommend Michelle for anyone needing a caring dog sitter. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of my dog!”

“We left our very anxious dog, Judo, with Sarah and Erik for 2 weeks while we went out of state for our wedding. She can really struggle with new people and men, but she warmed up well (it took a few days but that’s just Judo)! I got many updates, pictures, and videos all showing me that Judo was having a good time. I could not have picked anyone better to watch her. She got along great with their dog, Rosie, who was happy to play or just hang out! I would absolutely have Judo stay with them again.”

“I booked with Michael for three nights, and it was a great experience. He takes great precaution to ensure that your dog and his dog are comfortable and happy throughout the visit. He also only takes in one dog at a time which provides assurance that no unknown dogs will be staying with yours while you are away. He takes them on regular walks, and provides text and photo updates throughout the day, especially when there is something cute that he knows you can't miss out on. I would definitely utilize Michael's services again.”

“Jessica was the best Rover experience that I ever had. She treated my dog so well and made her feel like home. She provided me with consistent updates and pictures and my sweet Jewel was beyond happy.”

About: 👋🏼Thanks for taking the time and swinging by! My husband and I each grew up with dogs and also had different kinds of pets (hamsters, lizards, fish, turtles, cats, dogs, birds) while the kids were growing up. We understand how important it is to find someone you can completely trust with your pet(s). 🐾We offer boarding, house sitting, and drop-in visits, ensuring your pets get consistent care tailored to their routine. 🏡We live in a house with a secure, fully fenced-in yard where your dogs can safely play, stretch their legs, and explore. 🐶🐶We are the proud pet (grand)parents of two sweet, 15-year-old sister dogs. Because they are seniors, they cannot hear very well anymore. They are very gentle, and a bit shy but friendly. 💖Your pets will find a peaceful, patient, and understanding environment here. Whether your pet is staying at our house or I am visiting yours, they will receive attentive care. We look forward to meeting you and your pets! Gina is currently “retired” since we recently moved to the area. We usually go to the gym early in the mornings and Michael works from home. 🌳We have a nice sized well manicured back yard that is fenced in. There is plenty of room in the house for more dog beds or crates if needed.
“Arya did a fantastic job taking care of my dog. He is high energy and she met his needs . She had a true bond with my dog and I plan to request her services again and again !”

“Cosmo had a few of his happiest days with Jessica, Doug and their family. He bonded with their pups and got to play chase and football on their spacious property. He’s already asking to hang out with Sky and George, their two pups, again! Jessica and Doug went out of their way to keep me updated with pictures. I felt at ease the whole time.”

“Megan and her family took such amazing care of Scout. She went on so many little adventures and came home healthy, happy, and clearly loved. Megan sent daily updates with pictures, which gave me so much peace of mind. She even threw Scout a birthday party while I was away, complete with a cake and a homemade crown her daughter made since I couldn’t be there to celebrate. I felt so relieved knowing Scout was in such good hands, and I will absolutely be booking with Megan again.”

“We are so glad we found Camilla and her family to take care of Toby for us. It is such a relief to know that our guy will be well taken care of and loved while we are away.”

About: Ive taken care of dogs for a little over 6 years but have been around dogs and cats all my life. Family and friends have relied on me to care for their pets and I enjoy taking care of fur babies. I work from home and finish work around 3:30pm. I am free most weekends for walks and care. With enough time in advance I can dog/cat sit in your home. I ensure a welcoming environment for your pet. I do have a 3 year old chocolate labrador who loves to have guests. I stay as true to their normal routine as possible making it an easy transition for when the owner is gone. I make sure I give extra love and attention to the pets as I would want this for my own pet.
Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Blackburn
Rachel was great to work with! My boy, Jethro, can be very anxious and excitable and she handled him with such ease! From the meet and greet to pickup, I was comfortable and felt that Jethro was going to be in good hands. I would definitely book again if we needed.

If you have a dog with needs, or just a dog you love, I would highly recommend Rachel and Donald to you! It was such a blessing to go on vacation and not worry about my pet! My dog is old, blind and deaf, so I do worry when I go on vacation. If I am not near, he gets very anxious. And it is hard for him to navigate a new place. But after our meet and greet, my own anxiety began to leave. Rachel and Donald sent more than one daily update with pictures. For once, I was not in a hurry to get back home! When I picked him up, he acted like he would have been fine to stay longer. I could tell they loved on and cared for my dog as well as I do. I will definitely use Rachel and Donald every time I go out of town. Again, if you have a dog with needs, or just a dog you love, I would highly recommend Rachel and Donald to you.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Blackburn home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Blackburn.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Blackburn sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
