Ria does a great job taking care of my pet cat. I know I can count on her to be there every day she is scheduled and give me an update on how my cat is doing. I will continue to use her whenever I need a drop-in visit or another type of pet sitting. I would certainly recommend her.

Melissa was willing to help me out with a last minute request when other plans fell through. I was staying in Sugarloaf for a ski weekend and the person I had lined up to walk my puppy, Alfie, canceled his Sunday walk on Saturday. I reached out to Melissa Saturday afternoon to see if she could help, and she responded almost immediately. During their walk, Alfie was so curious about the smells on the walk that he forgot to go potty. Melissa stayed long enough to make sure that he went. She was awesome. 100% recommend.

About: I've always had friends with dogs and have done house and dog sitting for many years without any issues. I also have a saint Bernard, Banks! I'm currently looking for a new job after I was laid off from my former job. I have a lot of time on my hands currently so I have open availability. I take my doggo out on walks every day! We're also lazy from time to time but we're usually more active. I'm very engaged with my dog as he can be very energetic so I can definitely handle bigger dogs with a lot of energy.

About: I taken care when I was very young even taking care of ill/sick animals. I'll nurse them back to health when vets couldn't do it. I bottle feed and take them to the restroom when they are babies. I been taking care since 10 years old. I'm very open with my schedule and love to be around animals. I work from home working as a editor and have lots of free time. I have a gate area for all animals. I always have them on a leash and make sure we walk in the morning or evening. It's too hot for their paws if you have booties for them even great. Always have water on me and poop bags. I never have anything laying around for them to eat or play with. I'm always outside with them when need to go potty and play.

About: For the last two decades, I have dedicated myself to house sitting and pet care for those closest to me. I’ve handled everything from high-energy pups to gentle giants and senior dogs who need a little extra patience and TLC. Because I’ve worked with dogs of all different sizes and temperaments, I know how to read their body language, respect their routines, and give them exactly what they need to feel at ease. I'm currently working part time so I'll have plenty of time to play with your fur babies. I'm available for day or overnights during the week and most weekends. I am very loving and hands on type with pets. We can play in the yard if it's fenced and/or go for walks. I am comfortable to administer medication if needed, as I have cared for many senior foster and my own pets.

Mariah was GREAT! She watched our cats while we took a holiday trip this Thanksgiving and she was very attentive, caring, kind, and even sent us photos of our babies while we were gone! It was so reassuring knowing they were in such great hands! She is an animal lover who is currently studying to work with animals as well! We loved her care so much that we booked her for another vacation where we will be out of town! She will treat your pets the way you would treat them, it comes very natural to her!

About: Hi there! I am a calm and reliable pet sitter with over five years of hands-on experience caring for cats and dogs of all sizes. I grew up with pets and have been the primary caregiver for my own animals for several years, so I understand the importance of consistency, trust, and routines for pets and their families. My natural approach is calm and quiet, which makes me especially well-suited for anxious, shy, or sensitive animals. That said, I’m always happy to match a pet’s energy—whether that means gentle companionship, playtime, or structured walks. I pay close attention to feeding schedules, medications, potty and litter needs, and any specific instructions you provide. I’ll treat your home and your pets with care and respect, and I’m happy to provide regular updates and photos so you can feel at ease while you’re away. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. I work from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. most days, and I plan pet care around consistent morning and evening visits, walks, and feedings. Outside of my work hours, I’m fully focused on providing unrushed, attentive care and sticking closely to each pet’s routine. I’m very reliable with timing, instructions, and communication, and I enjoy creating calm, comfortable experiences for pets. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I focus on maintaining their normal routine as closely as possible so they feel comfortable and secure. I carefully follow all feeding instructions, walk schedules, litter box and potty needs, medications, and any household guidelines you provide. I take a calm, gentle approach, letting pets set the pace for interaction, which works especially well for anxious, shy, or sensitive animals. I ensure that pets receive the right balance of attention, play, and quiet companionship tailored to their individual personalities. I also treat my clients’ homes with care and respect, providing regular updates and photos so you can feel confident that your pet is safe, relaxed, and well cared for while you’re away.

About: I can’t imagine living a life without being a dog mom. I’ve had dogs since my childhood and practically my entire adult life. I’ve had heartbreak from losing them because they were so loved. I’m retired and home mostly except for when I travel. I’m available to walk dogs and to play with them in fenced yard. I have a soft spot for all animals. My dog Holly is mostly an inside dog but always has access to fenced backyard through doggie door. The same would apply for any dogs I care for.

A pet sitter can provide focused care sessions, help your pet’s routine stay on track, or keep you updated on your pet’s mood and energy levels.

Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a Big Bear Lake stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. For daytime services like walking and drop-ins, you can also request sitters to send a report card with every visit.

Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Big Bear Lake. On Rover:

  • 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
