“Daniel is a rock star dog and house sitter! He took great care of our two dogs over the Christmas holiday and sent us updates with photos twice a day. When we returned, the house looked just like we left it and our dogs were happy and looked well cared for. We definitely plan to contact him for any future dog sitting needs.”

“I was skeptical to use Rover, but I had to make last-minute travel plans and my regular pet sitter was unavailable so I decided to give it a try. I was also afraid that nobody was going to want to take care of my eight dogs (mostly senior and special needs) and one cat. I contacted Amber and described all of my pets and their special needs, and she was up for the challenge. She even shared pictures and stories of her own babies to make me feel more at ease. Leaving six dogs over the age of 12, two special needs Frenchies (one deaf and one paralyzed), and one 17-year-old cat in the care of a stranger was very difficult for me to do. Upon meeting Amber, however, I was quickly put at ease. My animals immediately took to her and I could tell she was a kind, calm, gentle soul, which made leaving them easier. Amber handled all of my babies with extreme care and even read and followed my many, many pages of instructions. When she had questions, she texted or called me just like I asked. She took on the challenge of my paralyzed Frenchie like a pro - and it's not an easy job. She had to express her bladder every several hours, change her diaper, give her baths, carry her around, and give her lots of snuggles! She administered medications to my animals and gave them the various types of different food they eat. I came home to a happy, healthy crew of animals - and a new friend! I'm so happy I chose Amber and that she "chose" us. I highly recommend her and would definitely use her again!”

“Donnis makes traveling actually less anxiety filled. I’m so thankful she’s been able to watch our three fur babies while keeping an eye on the house. Absolutely so lucky we found her - our fur babies are happy and so are we!”

“I couldn't recommend Jody more! Sutton was so happy and well cared for while I was away. I received photo updates and frequent check ins. Jody also went out of her way to take care of chores around the house, before I returned home. Again, I highly recommend Jody for dog/house sitting!”
“Great communication and I could tell from what they were saying about Roger that he was well taken care of and they were truly spending time with him. Will definitely book them again!”

“Having Kim stay with our pup was truly a wonderful experience for us. We've boarded him several times and not been convinced he received the best of care. But, being able to leave him with Kim, such a caring sitter, in familar surroundings worked out beautifully. Kim kept us informed of his routine, his eating and his exercise and sent us pictures daily. We highly recommend Kim and so appreciate her care.”

“Madison was awesome. My senior dog absolutely loved her. She was so attentive, kind, and punctual. And she sent several great updates. I very much enjoyed working with her and will definitely book her again!”

“Rebecca was hands-down the best dog sitter we’ve ever had. From our very first communication through the end of our week away, she was professional, reliable, and incredibly attentive. She gave us complete peace of mind knowing our three babies were genuinely well cared for. We’ll absolutely be rebooking her for our next trip.”

“Morgan was amazing with our pet family members! Her attention to detail and sending us pictures and videos of how well our dogs were adjusting in our absence gave us great peace of mind. I highly recommend Morgan’s expertise and pet sitting. We will be using her services again when needed in the future.”

“We went out of town just after Christmas and needed a dog sitter. We were very pleased to come home to a happy, healthy pup, we had great communication the whole time and received a set of pictures and updates every evening. We will be using Maria Abigail‘s dog sitting service again!”

“Laura was phenomenal. It was a last minute booking and she went out of her way to make our life easy while I’m out of town and my husband having a changing work schedule. She was an extra hand that adapted to changes quickly which we both appreciated.”

“Taylor was great! The boys (2 dogs) seemed to enjoy the time and were very calm when we returned. Always a good sign! We will definitely be looking to book again for our next time away.”

“Excellent pet/house sitter. I know my cat Sean was so well taken care of and my home was left absolutely picture perfect. Getting pictures of Sean while gone was a bonus that made me feel secure and happy. I know I will be using Kira again in the future, great job”

“After my regular sitter cancelled because of family issues I was lucky to find Ariel. She came before the days I needed for a meet n greet. Both of my Boys were fighting over her attention as soon as she got here. I will definitely use her again. My boys are spoiled and love cuddle time. One is a “talker” and she sis great with both.”

“Lillie did a wonderful job caring for our dog. She kept us informed on how he was doing and their activities together. She also kept our house as clean as we left it! We will definitely ask her to care for our precious Cheo again!”

About: Hello everyone, my name is Alexandria and I love all animals, particularly dogs. I have grown up with dogs and cats practically my entire life, raising most of them since they were puppies. I currently have two dogs of my own — Pepper, my 10-year-old Dachshund mix, and Carson, my 8-year-old French Bulldog. Both of my dogs are on the smaller side, so my preference is to watch smaller dogs, as they tend to be the best fit for our home dynamic. I joined Rover to earn additional income, as well as to provide a companion for my dogs to hang out and socialize with. My schedule is pretty flexible, which means I can give your fur baby plenty of attention and care throughout the day. I am looking forward to meeting your little fur baby and providing them with a safe, loving, and fun environment while you’re away! Pet care fits very naturally into my daily routine. I work part time, which gives me a flexible schedule that allows me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to the dogs in my care. Because my hours are not rigid, I am able to adapt to just about any routine — whether your dog needs early morning walks, midday check-ins, or a specific feeding schedule, I can make it work. Whatever your dog’s routine looks like at home, just let me know and I will do my best to match it as closely as possible. And if for any reason I am unable to accommodate something specific, I will always be upfront and let you know before booking so there are no surprises. Your dog’s comfort and consistency are always my priority. When caring for pets, whether in my home or yours, my top priority is making sure your dog feels as comfortable and at ease as possible. I believe in sticking to your dog’s established routine, because familiarity goes a long way in keeping them calm and happy while you’re away. I provide walks in the morning, midday, and in the evening to make sure your pup stays active and gets plenty of fresh air. Feeding is always done according to your dog’s schedule and dietary instructions — I will follow whatever routine you have at home so there are no disruptions to what your dog is used to. I also take the time to understand the individual needs of each dog in my care. Every dog is different, and I want to make sure I’m attentive to their personality, comfort level, and any special requirements they may have. My goal is simply to do my very best to provide a safe, loving, and consistent experience for your fur baby until you return.

Donnis took great care of our Honey Bun and our home while we were out of town for a week. This was our first time doing either and we didn’t know what to expect. She sent updates and pictures twice daily and that helped the whole family feel comfortable that Honey was being well taken care of! We will definitely reach out to her again!

Our dogs seemed to be very happy and cared for while Sarah stayed with them. She provided photos and feedback throughout her stay, which were greatly appreciated. Our home was left in perfect condition as well. We will definitely use her again and would recommend her to keep your fur babies.

Addison did a great job with our three dogs! She stayed at our house and took care of them for 6 nights. She made sure our older dog took his meds and took our younger dogs for walks daily to provide them with the exercise they're used to. She also left the house in good shape.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Between walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Between maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Between choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Between. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
