“Chloe took great care of our senior pups! She was very communicative and sent lots of photos. She was also able to squeeze us in at the last minute when other sitter plans had fallen through. Would definitely rebook!!!”
“Alexandra was absolutely wonderful with my dog. He’s notoriously sensitive to change—often refusing to eat and hiding when I’m away. But within just two days of being with Alexandra, he was out of his shell and eating normally. Her calm, caring approach clearly made him feel safe and comfortable. I’m beyond grateful and will definitely be booking her again for future trips. Highly recommend!”

“Stephanie took the time to meet our 3 dogs twice before our vacation because one of our dogs is scared of new people. She sent daily messages and photos while we were away. Her vast experience meant that everything went brilliantly and all the dogs loved her like family. I will not hesitate to book her again.”

About: Hi there, and thanks for checking out my profile! I’ve been on Rover for about a year and primarily take on housesitting roles or keep pets in my home, but I also have long term walking clients. I’m here because I genuinely love animals and have years of accumulated animal experience that really lends itself well to creating happy clients. I've had pets of all shapes and sizes since the 7th grade when I turned my dog into my science fair project (The Effect of Rewards on Dog Training). Since then, I've done obedience classes with one of my pups, worked with Australian Shepherd and Doberman rescue as a transporter and foster mom, and walked many miles with some cute pooches. I'm currently mom to one male cat, an Holland Lop, and one very typical male Golden Retriever. OH--and a seven year old human boy! I’m experienced in difficult animal behaviors such as separation anxiety and mild aggression towards other animals, potty training, medical emergencies (I am NOT clinically trained, but I’ve been through a lot of vet appointments between my pets and the rescues), and giving medication. I’m also a farmer and floral designer by trade, so I might covertly care for your houseplants as well. My work schedule is flexible, and I often work from home. I determine my own work schedule, so I can accommodate pet care most days and times. I’m very careful about not overcommitting myself, particularly when it comes to taking responsibility for other people’s pets. I offer in-home care for cat- and kid-friendly pups who get along well with other animals. Ollie the Golden Retriever will be sure to keep your dog well-entertained. He is 5 years old and still very "puppy," but ultimately, he’s a chill Golden to his core. The cat loves Ollie but are typically unimpressed by all other creatures. The rabbit rules the house.

About: I have always had a strong passion for animals and have taken every opportunity to care for and support them. Over the years, I have provided reliable dog and cat sitting services, working with a variety of breeds and sizes. Growing up in a home that always included pets has given me a deep appreciation for animals and a natural ability to care for them with patience, attention, and love. I would love the opportunity to provide your furry companion with the love, care, and happiness they deserve. I have a very flexible schedule and am currently available at a variety of times. With clear communication regarding dates and times needed, I will be able to promptly confirm my availability and ensure I can meet your scheduling needs. Every animal is unique, and I tailor care routines to best fit each pet’s individual needs and schedule. I believe clear communication is key to creating the perfect care plan for your furry companion. I always prioritize dedicated playtime and, depending on the pet, provide walks and outdoor time to keep them happy and active. I am highly flexible and committed to meeting the specific needs of every animal in my care.
“This was our second time using Ken. He is so great and attentive with Chewy and tolerates all of our questions about how she’s doing which is very much appreciated. He is very understanding of her anxiety and general weirdness. It is such a blessing to be able to confidently leave her in his care and not have to be concerned about a single thing.”

“Suzanne was great! My husband and I were in a bind and needing a sitter for our Chihuahua almost at a moments notice. She listened to his needs we explained and was very thorough with any questions she had. We will definitely be using her again.”

“Katherine has been a phenomenal sitter for my senior dogs. She has been very attentive and has sent me adorable pictures and videos. I was very nervous leaving them for 8 days but Katherine has honestly gone above and beyond my expectations!!! I would highly recommend and I hope to use her again in the near future.”

About: I’ve grown up around all types of pets and absolutely love all animals! We’ve had an array of animals in our house growing up such as a German shepherd, parakeets, love birds, hamsters, gerbils, hermit crabs, and Jack Russell terriers! I now own three dogs! We have a super sweet labrador, a frenchie, and a boxer-pit mix. We love taking our big dogs on hikes and out to socialize any chance we get! Daily walks and outside time are a must for our pups and we love every minute of it. I have experience with IVDD and surgeries to follow with my French Bulldog. With that being said, I have first hand experience with caring for a medically fragile animal, administering medications, and seeing signs of discomfort in animals. As a pet owner and lover I know the importance of making sure you have someone you trust with your animal babies! I’m transitioning from being in the classroom full time to substitute teaching once school starts back up. I am free for the summer and will have flexibility in my schedule, especially for afternoons and evenings. I take my own pups out for a walk at least twice a day morning and evening. They also have outside time at least 3-4 times a day for 20+ minutes. If you choose to have your pet board with us we have a full privacy fenced backyard. We also have crates and gated off rooms to separate pups in they need a break or some down time. Our neighborhood is very walkable and private with low traffic.
“Carley was amazing! I highly recommend her! She was professional, on time, and checked in on my dogs multiple times a day. Carley checked in with me multiple times a day and sent me multiple photos. I felt very comfortable knowing she was taking such good care of my boys. I will definitely book her again!”
“Emily was fantastic with our pups. We are new in town, and it’s always hard to find someone to trust with your fur babies. She spent a lot of time with them and really gave them all her attention and put us as ease.”

About: I have grown up with cats and dogs all of my life, I absolutely love cats and dogs, all animals for that matter. So in case you have another animal as well as the dogs, I am totally and completely willing to watch and take care of them as well. I am very good with instructions on how to take care of them in a certain way if you please. I will show them so much love and compassion, I will snuggle with them, and play with them until they’re satisfied or have no more energy left. I always make sure they go outside for potty breaks every so often. I will always make sure they are fed enough and if so fed the amount the owner desires. I will also make sure they get plenty of walks and exercise. I’m currently working part time, so I will have plenty of time to play with your pups or kitties! I’m available on weekends and weekdays! I am the proud pet owner of a three-year-old German Shepherd and two cats one 8 year-old and one 2 year-old. I have grown up with cats and dogs my entire life so I know how to keep them entertained and loved as much as they need!
“Meghann is a star!! She was thorough, responsive, and so loving with our senior dog. Meghann sent photos throughout the stay, gave us updates in a timely manner, and was on the ball with every medication and task our pup needed. She left our home clean and orderly, and gave us final updates before leaving. 15/10 would book Meghann again!”

About: I've been helping take care of dogs for friends, family, and neighbors since I was a teenager. I've owned 3 dogs myself over the last 15 years - ranging in age from puppies to seniors - and have been right by their side every step of the way. I'm also the one in the neighborhood always looking out for strays to help the reunite with their family. I currently work full time during the week, but I work remotely Mondays and Fridays, so my schedule is more flexible for walks those days. Weekends I am usually open. I am available to pet/house sit most days with notice, but if it is a weekday, I will need high speed internet available for work, and Tuesday - Thursday I will usually be gone from approx. 9am - 6pm for work unless I can arrange otherwise. Safety is first and your pet's safety will always my number one concern. Let me know any special situations that you may have for your pet!

About: As a dog owner myself, I understand how important it is to trust someone with your pet. I know every dog has their own personality and routine, and I’ll do my best to keep them happy, comfortable, and cared for while you’re away. I work full-time, but I prioritize clear communication and only accept bookings I know I can fully commit to. Overnight stays fit well into my schedule, and I’ll make sure your pet receives plenty of attention, walks, meals, and affection before and after work. I’ll also keep you updated with photos and messages so you always know how they’re’re doing. I believe pets are happiest when they can stay in their own home and follow their normal routine. I’ll carefully follow your instructions, respect your home, and make sure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I’m happy to provide regular updates and photos for your peace of mind.
“I was new to the area and didn’t know anyone so took a chance on Carly to house sit with my pets. She is amazing! When I used her this time, she handled my dog’s separation anxiety so well. She does an amazing job taking care of my babies!”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ballentine walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ballentine maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ballentine choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
