“Kerry is a gem!! My senior dog needs lots of TLC and patience (he's lost most of his vision and hearing, has trouble with stairs and occasionally gets confused), so I was nervous about bringing in someone to walk him. Kerry immediately put my fears to rest -- asked all the right questions, was wonderful with my dog, and communicated well and often during the visit. I won't hesitate to have him visit again and am relieved I found him.”

About: I have had experience with dogs of all breeds since I was 16 years old when I worked as a kennel tech! I was also a volunteer at the Human Society and mostly worked in the cat room - spending time and cuddles and cleaning their living area. I know that the care of your pet is the most important thing to feel secure about when going on vacation or out of town. In addition to years of care sitting for both cats and dogs, I volunteered in South Africa and cared for baby baboons! I know your pet is unique and I will follow all instructions given to ensure your peace of mind, your pet’s safety, and will send pictures daily! I transitioned from the corporate world to and now do this full time, so I am flexible and available at all times to keep your pet’s schedule on track! I care and respect your home just as much as I love animals. If I am in your home, I will follow all instructions as given and am happy to send as many pictures as you request during my stay. This is my full time job so making sure your pets stay on schedule is my priority! It can be overwhelming when owners leave, so maintaining their routines helps ease everyone’s anxiety! I respect your home as if it were my own! I ensure to keep areas clean and respect all areas of the house! I am also happy to do light tasks such as watering plants and brining in your mail. :)
“Tara continues to take amazing care of our two dogs, who happen to both have huge personalities. We are thankful for her. She is an excellent communicator & such a sweet person. I can’t recommend her enough for any of your pet care needs!”

About: I've cared for Samoyeds my whole life, including litters from several of my own dogs. I've also looked after neighborhood dogs of all sizes, from chihuahuas to German shepherds, so I'm comfortable with pets big and small. Since my main career is remote, I'm home to keep an eye on dogs throughout the day. My own pets get a morning and evening walk plus feeding, so there's a consistent routine your dog can settle into. Your dog's safety is always the top priority. If everyone in the house needs to step out and there aren't enough eyes to keep watch, I use a crate to keep things calm and secure until someone's back. And if you'd prefer I stay with your dog the whole time instead, that's absolutely fine too — happy to work with whatever makes you most comfortable.
“Alyssa is great! She does really well with our energetic puppy who pulls and jumps. She is great at communicating and responds quickly. She is always looking out for Sadie’s safety and goes out of her way to remove ticks. Sadie comes back from her walks happy and tired!”

“We are so grateful to have found Joseph. Our mini poodle is quite skittish around people other than family, and Joseph showed great patience and understanding with her, allowing her to get comfortable on her own timeline. Now when he arrives, our dog is thrilled to see him and comes home from walks happy and relaxed. We also appreciate Joseph's dependability and reliability; we trust him completely.”

“I had Christopher come by this weekend for a meet and greet, and I was immediately impressed by how knowledgeable and experienced he seemed with dogs. Since my dog, Nela, doesn’t do well around other dogs, I really needed someone who would be patient, attentive, and confident handling her on walks. Nela seemed to really enjoy her walk with Christopher today, which made me very happy and comfortable knowing she was in good hands. I also loved the photos he sent after the walk, it was such a nice way to see how everything went. I’m very happy with Christopher and would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable, patient, and experienced dog walker!”

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
