“Sadie was absolutely wonderful. I was very nervous leaving my pup August and she was very communicative, sent lots of pictures, and August came home happy and healthy. I would highly recommend Sadie to anyone looking for a trustworthy sitter for their fur baby.”

“Carrie B. and her family completely and thoroughly took care of and loved our pups! You could tell because when Bruno and Boone, came home, they were so loving and happy. From walks, pats, playtime, feeding, and treat time, Carrie did it all, as seen from the pictures and text messages. We will definitely be contacting her for any future pet sitting needs.”

“My bluetick coonhound Perci stayed with Andrea while I was with friends for the week at lake George. Unfortunately there were no dogs allowed. Perci loved Andrea. I knew he was in good hands when I took him out for a day hike to Buck Mountain and Andrea came to get him at our rental. He greeted her as he greets people he loves. He jumped on her and then happily into her car. He didn’t even turn around to me to say goodbye.”

“Nancy is so pleasant and kind. Watson came back happy and tired - all good signs! If we are ever in the area again, we would not hesitate to ask Nancy to watch Watson again. And what a view!!”

“Ericca took very good care of my dog while I was gone for three days. She sent updates and photos without me even asking, and he was in great spirits when I picked him up. Highly recommend!”

“Dionna is a fantastic sitter! So glad to have found her. She has such love and care for animals. Her communication was fantastic and I appreciated all the photo & video updates while we were away.”

“Peg was very responsive, friendly and helpful. She is organized and new the right questions to ask to ensure a successful stay for our pet . From the way copper was bouncing around when we picked him up really enjoyed his stay. I think he loved the freedom of the fenced yard and running free with the other dogs. For Copper, the freedom to run un-tethered is such a treat after spending most of his time on a chain and runner.”

“Kate is a wonderful host. Our blue heeler mix is high energy and Kate really impressed us with care and attention she showed. Kate was very attentive and sent us pics and updates of our dog. I give her the best rating. A pleasure to work with.”

About: I am a dog lover and would love to take care of your fur baby while you are away! I’ve had dogs my whole life, and love getting to know their personalities. I work from home, so your dog will rarely be left alone, aside from the occasional outing. Your pet’s safety and comfort is my top priority. I have a large fenced in back yard for your dog to run around and play in. And my dog Miles loves all other dogs, so they will have a playmate during your stay!
“Julia did a great job watching our golden retriever recently. She was very responsive whenever I sent a text. She was flexible when we scheduled a meet and greet and sent a pic each day our dog was with her. Julia asked a lot of questions to be sure she understood our dog's needs and personality. I would recommend her for sure!”
“We needed a quick overnight on a cross country trip. Our two goldens who just turned 2 we’re happy and loved with Hannah. We will be checking in with her next time we’re in the area for sure!”
“Rebecca took wonderful care of our 14 year old Max (Shih Tzu). She gave us plenty of updates and pictures of the fun things he was doing. Max was happy when we picked him up, and tired from his fun stay when he got home. I’d highly recommend Rebecca!!”

“Lauren took great care of our dog Beau while we were away for a week! She sent us pictures and updates daily and he was welcomed by her own dogs like he was part of their family. I would leave him there again if we had to be away again. Thank you Lauren!”

“Mary is the perfect Rover for us. We left Corby, our yorkie-mix with Mary and never worried once. We knew she missed her two little dogs and would spoil Corby. He had a great time in her fenced in yard and made himself right at home on the sofa and checking out the activity outside. A quiet country setting Corby will be visiting every time we go away. She sent us picture updates and notes.”

“Our dog had a great time! We’re very pleased with Laurie’s care for our dog, especially over thanksgiving. She even sent pictures throughout his stay. Would highly recommend.”

“Ginger is a fantastic human, Sheba seemed very content to cohabitate with. Ginger went above and beyond in her care for my girl. She sent texts, pictures and videos to keep me posted on how my husky was doing throughout her stay. If I go out of town again I know the exact person I will contact through Rover. Thanks again Ginger”

“Amazing stay! Our regular sitter was out of town for the holiday weekend so I reached out to Taylor with a last minute request. Very fast response. I was kept updated with photos and activities. Molly came home exhausted and happy! Thank you so much Taylor. We will definitely keep you at the top of our list for Molly.”

“Our little Havanese loved Addy from the very start. Addy sent lots of pictures and clearly delights in her furry guests. We will definitely be visiting Addy again!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
