“This was our second time using Ebie for an in-home sitting with both our Frenchie and our pug puppy. Ebie is SO great with meeting their high-maintenance 🤪 needs and they both just love her. Ebie is also so thoughtful about keeping our home nice for us. We had to change our dates twice and Ebie was super flexible about accommodating our needs for an out of state funeral. She made a stressful time less stressful for us and our fur-babies. Highly recommend Ebie as a sitter you can depend on and trust.”

“Kelli was able to watch our dog on short notice, which we really appreciated. She did well with our German Shepherd, who can be stand-offish until she gets comfortable, and was patient in helping her adjust. Our dog has more involved care needs than a typical dog due to health conditions, including a specialized feeding routine and daily medications. Kelli was willing to take that on and follow through which gave us peace of mind knowing she was attentive to those details. We also appreciated how she handled an unexpected situation during a power outage. The resulting beeping in the house caused stress for Callie, and Kelli responded quickly by comforting her and reaching out right away for guidance on how to resolve it. However, we found communication to be inconsistent. We typically expect daily updates and photos from our sitters, but during this week-long stay, we only received photos twice and often had to initiate contact ourselves for updates. For pet owners who value proactive communication, this is an important consideration. While Kelli is very capable with complex care, consistent daily check-ins would have greatly improved our experience.”

“Sierra was amazing! She took care of my 3 dogs and 2 cats above and beyond. She was also very good with communication if anything was happening or just for updates as well.”
“Jessica was so great with our ladies. She was very good at keeping me posted on how everyone was doing with photos and updates! Our house was just as we left it when we arrived back home, and pets seem very happy! Thank you Jessica! We’ll definitely be working with you again.”

“It was a pleasure to have Alyssa in our home. Her availability was exactly what we needed for our older dog and her communication with us was great! Our dog was well cared for and our home was clean when we arrived back home. Will definitely book her again for future trips!”

“Skyler was awesome as always! Pleasant to communicate with, liked by my critters, very attentive to instructions, and excellent with updates on how the animals are doing. I would highly recommend!”

About: I have experience with dogs of all breeds and sizes, from playful puppies to senior dogs needing extra care! I've been working with neighbors and have been recommended to others due to my reliable and compassionate pet care. In addition, I have completed countless volunteer hours through the Humane Society of West Michigan's Dogs Day Out program, giving me valuable hands-on experience with dogs of varying temperaments, energy levels, and care needs! I'm currently working part-time, so I'll have plenty of time to play with your pups! I'm available for any pet care needed on weekdays and weekends! In my own home, I have one cat who loves to lie around the house during the day and snuggle next to me at night! My #1 goal is to make sure your pet is having fun in a safe and comfortable environment at all times!

“Brittney did an excellent job house sitting with my dog Millie. She walked Millie several times a day and sent lots of pictures and feedback. She followed instructions well and asked questions when a scenario did fit the instructions. I would definitely ask her to help out again.”

“Mikayla was absolutely amazing with our fur babies! She kept our high energy dog well played with, and was great understanding our grumpy cat. She was active with the pets and sent us great videos and pictures. She communicated with us immediately and left our house better than when she came. We greatly appreciated her and would rebook her in the future.”

“Breanna house sat for us for a week and care for our dog and two cats. She was outstanding! We knew from our first meeting that our pets would be well cared for and loved. She went above and beyond by watering our plants as well. Lastly, her communication was excellent! We would highly recommend her!”

“Cindy did a fabulous job with Pearl! Pearl willingly sat on her lap and snuggled with her - which if you know Pearl - you know that she only really does that with my husband and I. It was a great feeling to be able to go on vacation and not have a single worry about Pearl. Cindy sent regular pictures which we appreciated. We would hire Cindy again in a heartbeat! Thank you soooooooooo much Cindy for the excellent care of Pearl!”

“Genesis is absolutely amazing! We were nervous to leave our babies with someone we didn't know, but as soon as she came over for our meet and greet, both I and the puppies adored her!! She stayed in our home with our small dogs for 5 days and took amazing care of them! She very quickly picked up on their personalities and wants/needs and took care of them accordingly - and with enthusiasm and great care. She was excellent at communication and left our home in pristine order. She definitely takes her job seriously and also truly enjoys it. We won't ever look for another dog sitter again. She's absolutely top notch! Thank you, Genesis! See you next time!”

About: I have 5+ years of experience in pet sitting, walking, and boarding services. The dogs I have cared for have ranged from puppy to senior ages. I do have one dog at home, who is great around other dogs and will not be an issue if you board with me. I have space in my home for up to two dogs plus my own if you are considering boarding. I am also willing to overnight stay. Additionally, I am currently enrolled for college at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ in the pre-veterinary medicine program. I will be available for the months of May through mid August on almost all weekends and most holidays! I am working full time during the week at Camp Bow Wow, so my boarding services will only be available on the weekends, but I am available during the week for evening walks, pet sitting, or overnight stays depending on the situation. I have one dog at home that will be very willing to play all day and go on walks with your dog. Additionally, there is enough space in the house to crate up to two dogs if needed. However, crates will have to be provided. I have a mid sized yard that does not have a physical fence.
“We had an excellent experience with Abigail and would absolutely book again. From the start, communication was clear, proactive, and professional, which made coordinating everything seamless. Our dogs were incredibly well cared for—happy, relaxed, and clearly comfortable the entire time we were away. We received regular updates and photos, which gave us real peace of mind. It was obvious our sitter paid close attention to routines, preferences, and small details that make a big difference. Our home was also left in great condition—clean, organized, and exactly as we left it. That level of respect and care doesn’t go unnoticed. Overall, this was a stress-free, reliable experience. If you’re looking for someone trustworthy, attentive, and easy to work with, I highly recommend her.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Alaska
We had a great experience with Eden taking care of our two dogs. One of our dogs can take a little bit to warm up to strangers and she took the time to make sure she felt comfortable. Based on their behavior when we came home, it was obvious they had a great time with her, they acted only mildly happy to see us. That's usually a sign that they were well cared for. Would definitely recommend Eden!

Kaylee exceeded my expectations. She is conscientious, warm, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. This is the first time she watched my cat and two dogs (one dog a highly energetic and slightly annoying Aussie) and I really hope she will come back to sit them again. What a huge gift it is to be able to go away and feel totally comfortable leaving your loved ones with someone you truly trust. Kaylee is that person.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Alaska walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Alaska maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Alaska choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Alaska. On Rover:
- 98% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
