Rhea was absolutely amazing!!! It wasn't easy for the hubby and I to leave our boys for an entire week, but we knew they were in great hands with Rhea! She was incredibly attentive and sent us updates twice a day with photos! You could see the smiles on their faces, which allowed us to rest a little easier. We will definitely be booking Rhea next time we have to leave our precious pups again!

Eileen was wonderful with our 2 pups! She was here when she said she would be here and took great care to send updates and pictures. We even had one dog with a dislocated hip that needed medication daily that she stayed on top of. We would definitely want to book with Eileen again. Thank you!

About: I may be new to Rover, but I bring a strong caregiving background and love for animals. I am attentive to each pet’s individual needs. I take the time to help them to feel comfortable, secure and loved. During the summer, I have a flexible schedule since I am off from my full time job. This allows me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to pet care. I will continue to offer pet care around my work schedule and will keep my availability updated. Whether I am caring for pets in my home or in a client’s home, I follow each pet’s routine, and take time to get to know each pet’s unique personality and needs so they feel secure and well care for while their family is away.

About: I have taken care of a multitude of breeds and animals throughout my life. Growing up I had a teacup poodle named Clara Bow. I later had an english bulldog named Lulu. During my years in high school through present time, my family dogs include a Dalmatian, a Cavalier King Charles, and a new addition Toy Poodle. Dog walking and caring has been a task I have enjoyed and attended to since I was only a child. I have experience with pitbull breeds, as well as older dogs who may need medicine administered, diapers, etc. I look forward to taking amazing care of your cute pups! I am a college student so my schedule is different depending on the season. I bounce around between Fort Lauderdale, Gainesville, and Ocala, Florida. I work part time and have availability for walking, sitting, drop ins, etc on most days of the week. I currently own a cat of my own and she will be a year old in October. No matter which location I am in, my home is filled with comfort, cleanliness, and calm. In Fort Lauderdale there are the two dogs I mentioned, my family dalmation and cavalier king charles. My cat comes wherever I go, but when tending to services in Ocala and Gainesville it is just my one cat in the home.

This was our first time using Rover and Cindy went above and beyond our expectations! Our four puppies were very well taken care of, and Cindy did an amazing job! We were away for 4 days and she came to our house to watch the dogs. They got all of the love and attention that they get when we are with them! Looking forward to Cindy coming to take care of them again :)

Connor recently took on dog sitting our 5 very active dogs for a week in our home. From our first contact, Connor was reliable, courteous and a pleasure to work with. Connor was very quick with his communication and answered all our questions. It was the first time we have left all 5 dogs with a "stranger" and we were a little worried, as they can be a handful, but he was wonderful! After our initial meeting, we felt very comfortable having Connor stay in our home and we returned to find it just as it was left. He took on the responsibility of cleaning up daily after the 5 dogs and our detailed list of instructions. We would highly recommend Connor for any of your pet sitting needs!

This was our first time using Rover since we moved to Florida. We felt good about using Katelyne after the meet & greet. It was obvious she has a love for dogs. She was prompt arriving, kept us informed throughout the day including sending pics and she gave us a synopsis when we got home. She made sure we didn’t have any questions for before she left. We will use Katelyne again, providing she is available.

About: I’ve taken care of many dogs and cats as well as horses, rabbits, ducks and chickens since the age of 14. I love spending time with dogs and cats. I’m currently working a part time job but I can work my schedule around your dog or cat’s needs. Mornings, evenings, or even nights. Waking, staying the night, or just checking on your pets. I have a dog and horses of my own so I know how to take care of animals. I take very good care of them and they are very happy and healthy.

About: I have always had a passion for animals all shapes and sizes. Ever since a little girl I could remember telling my mom how I can’t wait to be a “dog-doctor” and I am chasing that dream everyday. I currently am working to get my training certification, while working remotely at home. I have been in the pet industry for almost 10 years and plan on continuing to help my community and pet friends fur-ever. I can’t wait to meet you all! I am here to accommodate your needs whatever they may be. Any pet in home will be taken care with what I like call white glove service. They are essentially the homeowner in my care ! Definitely spoiled, lots of walks , scheduled meals according to pet parents preference. Many walks and lots of comfortability. My house is safe, only my partner and I live here and we take many precautions to ensure the home is safe. I work a very part-time job while I study for my certification so I will have ample time to give your baby, and give the attention they deserve ❤️. Although I do not have a fenced yard, my home is safe and secure and I have a secured field I can let my guest run freely and safely.

I am currently a stay at home single mother, attending school for criminal justice with the goal to enter the forensics world. during the school year I’m a substitute teacher for Marion county, so, during the summer as well as other holiday breaks and weekends I need something to fill those gaps! as I would also be available after school hours! creating my own schedule is crucial during this time, luckily, it involves something that I enjoy as well! and can help others too!! this isn’t a service I’m currently providing in my home as I live in a small space with no fenced in yard unfortunately! in my clients home I will always remain respectful, focused, and attentive to your fur babies! entering someone else’s space is completely sacred and I aim to always be professional and honor your home as if it was my own.

About: Animals have always been a big part of my life. I currently have four dogs, a 5-year-old Lab/ German Shepherd mix, a 9-year-old Great Dane/ Lab rescue with health issues, a 9-year-old Shih Tzu with special care needs, and a 6-month-old Golden Retriever. Caring for them has given me experience with puppies, senior dogs, large and small breeds, administering daily routines, and recognizing when a pet needs extra attention. I've also owned cats throughout my life and currently have one. I understand that every pet has a unique personality and routine, and I treat every animal with the same patience, love, and care that I give my own. My goal is to make sure your pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you're away, while also giving you peace of mind that your home and furry family members are in good hands. I have a flexible schedule and can work around your pet's normal routine to help them feel comfortable while you're away. Whether it's feeding, walks, playtime, medication, or lots of cuddles, I'm committed to providing reliable, attentive care. I understand how important consistency is for pets and will treat them with the same love and patience I give my own four dogs and cat. I know how important it is to trust someone with both your pets and your home. I'll follow your pet's routine and any special instructions carefully, whether that includes medications, senior care, puppy care, or extra exercise. I'l keep your home clean and secure, send regular updates and photos, and make sure your pets feel safe, loved, and comfortable until you return. My goal is for you to enjoy your time away with complete peace of mind.

This was my first time using Rover, and I was a bit nervous since my dogs are truly my babies—and the sitter would be staying in my home. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience with Heather! She took wonderful care of my three dogs, including one who is older, blind, and deaf, and needs a little extra attention. Heather was fantastic with all of them. She kept me updated with great communication and sent lots of photos while I was away, which really put my mind at ease. My house was clean and tidy when I got back, and I appreciated her reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail. She even made sure to walk two of the dogs each day. If you’re looking for a trustworthy, caring, and dependable dog sitter, Heather is your girl!

Heather stayed with my baby boy Jaxcy for 10 days in my home. She sent me pictures every day of him playing, eating and sleeping. His 5th birthday occurred while we were in vacation and I felt so guilty but she went and bought him toys, birthday cookies and a birthday hat. The pictures she sent were priceless. Upon our return my house was spotless clean and Jaxcy was so happy and healthy. Once she was gone he searched the house for her for a few hours which proves that he really liked her. Her communication and reliability is impeccable. She took excellent care of him and I will definitely use her services again.

FAQs for House Sitting - York

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in York on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 647 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across York. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred York walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in York maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in York choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in York. On Rover:

  • 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
