“Both Kimberly and Chris were very easy to make arrangements with, and their two happy dogs are a great reference! I had peace of mind leaving Murphy there, and the photos Kimberly sent of the dogs hanging out were great. They are nice people that love animals and I think Murphy had a great time with them. They were also really accommodating in terms of working with our plans/needs, which was so helpful. ”

“Kate was an absolutely amazing caregiver for my Westie! She was quick to respond to communication and I felt completely at ease at drop off. The large, fenced-in yard is such a great space and the home and areas where the pets are kept is clean and tidy. Pictures were sent throughout his stay and I’ve already booked her again! So happy to have found Kate!”

“Our dog loved her week with Alara and we would highly recommend her to anyone. She really understands dogs and fenced in yard to let the dogs get their energy out during the day. Will definitely use her again.”

“Lourdes and her family always take such wonderful care of Fergus. She provides amazing communication with pictures and videos throughout the day. We always feel secure knowing he is happy, safe and loved. Thank you, Lourdes!”

“Brian & Kathleen were excellent! Our dog can be a handful, but they took great care of him and treated him like their own. Will definitely hope to book again”

“Jeffery made ny two rescue pups feel right at home on his lovely farm. Jeffery even watched my 5 month old pup who is still potty training. My girls came home tired and loved. We will definitely book Jeffery again!”

“Cara and Dan are wonderful people! They took wonderful care of our dog while we were out at a wedding. If we lived in the area we’d ask them to care for our dog all the time! Thank you Cara and Dan!”

“This was the first time I have ever left my dog with another person, and safe to say I wasn’t disappointed. Megan was an amazing sitter for my 60lbs pit-bull, Polar. He enjoyed my walks and cuddles during his stay. Megan sent many pictures and updates, and followed all the guidelines that we gave. Honestly, we could not have asked for better. Polar will indeed be back!!!”

“This was our first time using Rover and we would not hesitate to use Anthony and Jayson again! The communication was amazing and we got lots of pictures. We knew our girl was loved and cared for, and were at ease being so far away. She had a great time!”

“Our sweet, shy and cuddly pup had a great stay with Crystal and her family! We could see from the updates she sent us that she was happy and having fun, and knowing she was safe and being loved made the separation easier. You can see easily that Crystal treats her charges as if they were her own when they are in her care. Thanks, and we will definitely utilize her again in the future.”

“I feel so lucky to have found Lauren and Justin. I am new to the area and this was my first experience leaving Charlie with a new family. I can't imagine a more positive experience. Charlie was well cared for and loved on by Lauren and Justin and their two beautiful daughters. Bonus was their two dogs who became instant playmates. I got regular updates and pictures and was assured all along the way that all was well. I swear there was a tear in Charlie's eye when he had to say good bye and we drove away. Until next time...Grateful!”

“Look no farther for pet care!! Lindsey and Greg were astounding. They treated our two dogs like family. They sent updates and pictures everyday. When we dropped the dogs off they made sure to ask questions about the dogs preferences. They really took the time to get to know them. They are very good communicators. You can rest assured that your pet/s are in very good loving hands.”

“Debra was wonderful! My blue heeler loved staying with her! He is a bit clingy to me so I was worried leaving him, but he was quite comfortable with Debra. She sent me pictures and ensured me he was doing great throughout the stay. I would absolutely recommend Debra for boarding. My dog was well taken care of.”

“Our Lexi warned up to Sophia almost immediately, which is unusual for her. As a senior pup, Sophia had no problem giving Lexi her meds, which was comforting. Sophia was also patient with Lexi's accidents. Communication was good and pictures of Lexi appearing completely at ease warmed our hearts. Thanks, Sophia!”

About: I’ve always had a dog since I was born until I moved to Buffalo for school. I currently work a full time hybrid job where I am home most days with a pretty flexible schedule. “Erika and her family were great with Parker while we were out of town for the week. She kept me updated with pictures and reassured me that he was settling in well and got along great with her other dogs. Erika is very thorough and took the time to make sure all questions were answered and any special needs were accommodated. We felt very comfortable leaving Parker with her and he had a great time and was well cared for! Thank you!”

About: I've loved dogs since childhood and have always had one by my side. Right now, I have a toy poodle, so I understand the unique needs of small breeds firsthand—from their exercise requirements to their more delicate care compared to larger dogs. Because of this, I'm especially comfortable and confident caring for small dogs under 20 lbs. What sets me apart is the personal, hands-on experience I bring: I know how to read small dogs' body language, keep them calm around bigger animals, and give them the gentle, attentive care they thrive on. I'm patient, observant, and treat every dog like my own poodle—with genuine affection and close attention to their comfort and safety. I work from home. So I will be able to take care of your pet. If you have something on weekend or on Holiday then you can rely on me I have a toy poodle who is very friendly. He loves to play. If your pup is not aggresive then he will be safe here. I can give your food or my pets food.

Tammy did a great job looking after my Heidi. She went above and beyond. Heidi got a little sick and Tammy had the knowledge to treat her and watch over her. She even checked back with me after I got home to see how Heidi was doing. I would highly recommend her for your dogs. Very happy with her.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Yellow Mills home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Yellow Mills.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Yellow Mills sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
