“Rodney truly loves animals. He put me at ease, answering all my questions quickly. My dogs have never been boarded, one is 13 and the other 3. We initially did a meet and greet and I knew they would be in amazing hands. We did an overnight and they never looked back when he walked them into the house. Lol Put my mind at ease. Definitely sending them to Rodney and Marissa again. 😊”

“So glad we found Ashley! She was so accommodating from the start. We felt so at ease knowing we could leave our fur baby in a loving home where she’d get lots of love and attention. We will use her again!”

“Felice and family took wonderful care of our puppy. It was his first time using Rover and it appears that he loved it! We received lots of photos during his stay. Their great dogs kept him busy and in line! Highly recommend Felice and hope to become a repeat client ?”

“Lonnie was able to take my request with only a few days notice, he really helped me out there. Great yard with plenty room to run and his dogs got along great with mine. Plenty of pictures and videos updating me throughout the day. Definitely will come back”

“This is our second time with Lora. My pup loves visiting her home. You can tell how passionate she is about dogs and being a great sitter. She sent updates throughout my pups stay and makes him feel right at home. It’s almost like his second home. She has all the toys, a huge back yard and provides lots of love. If you are in need of a sitter I highly recommend Lora. Not only is she great but her family is as well. Her home is very clean and pet friendly. You will definitely be leaving your pup in good hands with Lora. I can travel with a peace of mind when my pup is with her.”
“Ebony did a great job with our Rusty. She sent pictures and videos every day. When he had an upset belly and needed a diet modification, she had no problem making adjustments! Thanks, Ebony!”

“Auana was excellent! My puppy was in great hands, she is super responsive and gave me updates throughout my dog’s stay with her. Her willingness to follow my dog’s care plan was extra comforting. Will be booking her again!”

“Ariel was awesome! She was very welcoming and friendly. She kept me updated with pics and took phenomenal care of Polo. This was his first time being left with a stranger so I was nervous but I can tell he loved Ariel. He will definitely be a frequent flyer with Ariel.”

“Kellyn took great care of our dog! We appreciated the periodic updates. I can tell that she went above and beyond in making sure Mariner was safe and comfortable. We look forward to booking again!”

“I was a little apprehensive about my move because we were leaving our regular sister who we loved. However, this recent stay with Keyona has eased all anxiety and I’m so glad we found her. She was extremely detailed in care, sent lots of videos and pics and checked in with you on how they were doing. Mine is a bit finicky with food in new environments sometimes (she’d rather go play than eat lol). Keyona kept me up to date on how she ate and even offered her fresh food toppers that helped her eat more. My baby is a level 5 clinger and from the updates it looks like she got lots of love and cuddles. She’s back home now, happy and exhausted after a weekend of fun! We can’t wait to utilize her services again.”

“I really had a great experience with Jamella she was professional a she really took time too get a clear understanding about pepper’s routine I will highly recommend”

“Cheryl was awesome! She welcomed my fur baby into her home and treated him like her own. She provided updates, pictures, and videos. And as a bonus my fur baby got to hang out with her beautiful daughter. I could not ask for a more "genuinely" compassionate, and loving family to leave my boy with. I would completely use her again. Thank you so much Cheryl!!!”

“Kaye was amazing with cat, Frankie! She got her a toy and played with her which is the key to Frankies heart. I was in a bind and needed someone to watch Frankie with only a few days notice and She was great!”

“Charles was amazing. Prince had a little issue shortly before his stay, and Charles was wonderful about making sure he received his medication. He kept me updated and even took pictures of Prince and sent them to me, which I really appreciated. Prince looked like he was having a great time and was very comfortable in Charles’s care. I was able to relax and not worry because I knew Prince was in good hands. I truly appreciate the care, attention, and communication Charles provided. I would definitely recommend Charles and will gladly use him again!”

“Will and Adriele were fabulous! Very accommodating to my drop off and pick, took my dog for a walk and shared many pictures. They were fabulous and will definitely be using them again! Thank you!”

“Great sitter! Funny guy, kept me updated with Ace throughout his stay & you could tell Ace really enjoyed his time there. Soon as i got him in the car, he started whimpering like he missed him already 😂 definitely glad i found someone he was comfortable with. Would definitely book again!”

“Ruth and her lovely family were amazing and took great care of my anxious pup while we were away. I loved seeing all the wonderful photos she took! Her children seemed like great playmates for my dog and she was so nice and understanding about my dog’s anxiety/loud barking.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Woodleaf home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Woodleaf.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Woodleaf sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
