The Doggy Den: Home away from Home

Hi, I’m Jena. I have been passionate about caring for dogs my entire life, and I’m thrilled to open my home to Rover guests. I have extensive experience with dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments, and what truly sets me apart is my love and respect for animals. I treat every dog in my care as if they were my own, ensuring they feel safe, loved, and comfortable at all times. For the past 12 years, I’ve been providing dog-sitting and dog-walking services for friends and family. My experience has included everything from caring for high-energy puppies to supporting senior dogs with special needs. Over the last five years, I’ve also begun my journey into dog training, and I’m excited to share my skills with my Rover clients. While I plan to offer training programs in the future, I currently focus on supporting the training you’re already working on with your dog. I can assist with puppy training, basic obedience, leash walking, threshold and impulse control, off-leash training, socialization and exposure training, and even trick training. I believe in positive reinforcement methods and always strive to create a fun and rewarding learning environment for every dog. At the Doggy Den, your pet is more than a guest—they’re family. Whether they’re staying for a night or a week, you can trust that your furry companion will be showered with love, attention, and expert care. I look forward to meeting your pup and providing them with a home away from home!

Jena is an amazing dog sitter and took wonderful care of my dogs while we were on vacation. She has a large fenced in yard with plenty of toys, a dog ramp, and a kiddie pool for them to splash around in. Jena keeps the dogs on a good schedule and gives them plenty of love and attention. I loved receiving the daily videos and pictures of my happy pups every day. We will definitely book with Jena again!

Jena was so patient with our 8 month old energetic puppies! I could tell from the pictures and videos that they were very comfortable and happy during their stay. We will absolutely book with Jena again (if she'll have them😄).

Jena is the best!!!! Whenever we are leaving our dog Ellie with Jena, we tell her she is going to camp because she loves it so much! She always makes a new friend and is totally exhausted from playing by the time we bring her home. Jena truly treats her like a pet of her own, and we are so grateful!

Sammy had such a great stay with Jena at The Doggy Den 🐾 She kept me updated with pictures and videos, and he clearly had the best time playing his heart out lol. Communication was always prompt and professional, and I really appreciated her letting me know whenever she had to step out briefly. The space is calm and beautiful with a huge fenced-in backyard, and she even kept Sammy in his familiar sleeping setup. I felt completely comfortable leaving him in her care—we’ll definitely be booking again soon 💛

Schedule

I spend most of my days at home with the dogs, making sure they get plenty of attention, playtime, and exercise throughout the day. Dog daycare is a big part of the Doggie Den, and I currently have daycare dogs here about 2–3 days a week. I love being able to give dogs the opportunity to play, exercise, and enjoy plenty of social time throughout the day. Because my home regularly has multiple dogs, boarding dogs should be well-socialized and comfortable around other dogs. This helps ensure that everyone staying at the Doggie Den has a safe, happy, and comfortable experience. For young puppies who are ready for socialization, the Doggie Den can also be a great environment to build confidence and learn how to appropriately interact with other dogs in a safe and supervised setting. Outside of dog daycare, I work very limited hours as a part-time babysitter, usually just 1–2 days a week. This allows me to spend the majority of my time at home and focused on caring for the dogs. Caring for dogs isn’t just something I do—it’s part of my everyday life. Whether it’s walks, games in the yard, playtime with their dog friends, practicing good manners, or relaxing together on the couch, I make sure every dog feels included, comfortable, and cared for. I have over 10 years of hands-on experience with dogs of all ages, sizes, and personalities, and I treat each pup like one of my own. Your dog’s routine is important to me, and I do my best to keep things consistent with what they’re used to—whether that means exercise, feeding schedules, nap time, or plenty of cuddle time. My goal is for you to feel completely at ease while you’re away, knowing your furry family member is safe, loved, supervised, and getting plenty of attention throughout the day.

Safety, trust & environment

Welcome to my home, where your dog's safety, comfort, and happiness are my top priorities. My home is clean, fully dog- and puppy-proofed, and designed to create a secure and stress-free environment. I have a spacious, fully fenced yard where dogs can run, play, and explore safely under constant supervision. Whether they're enjoying outdoor toys, the dog pool, tunnel, playground, or simply lounging in the sun on one of the outdoor dog beds, your dog will always be monitored to ensure their well-being. Inside, the open floor plan allows me to keep a close eye on all pets at all times. I provide a variety of enrichment toys tailored to your dog's needs and preferences. Please let me know if there are any specific toys or items your dog should avoid. Your furry companion will also have a friendly playmate! Me and my husband have a 3 year-old male golden retriever (55 pounds), who is gentle, playful, and great with dogs of all ages, from rambunctious puppies to senior dogs who prefer a slower pace. If your dog enjoys socializing, my golden retriever will be happy to make them feel welcome and included. I understand how important it is to leave your dog with someone you trust. With over a decade of experience caring for dogs, I am committed to treating your pet as part of my family, providing them with the love, attention, and care they deserve.

Pets

A typical day

Our day usually starts around 6–7 AM with potty breaks, playtime, and breakfast, followed by some quiet time to settle and digest. Dog daycare is a big part of the Doggie Den, and I typically offer daycare 2–3 days a week with a small group of 4–5 regulars. Daycare days include lots of supervised play, outdoor time, walks when schedules allow, and plenty of breaks for naps and downtime. We also enjoy fetch, tug-of-war, puzzle toys, basic training, and fun outdoor activities like the dog pool, sprinkler, splash pad, or tunnel on warm days. On the few weekdays when I’m out of the house, dogs are kept comfortable and secure according to their normal routine, whether that means crating, relaxing in the gated sunroom, or free-roaming. My Golden Retriever comes with me during those hours, so he will not be home. Once I’m back, it’s right back to walks, playtime, enrichment, and cuddles. Evenings are usually spent outside for another round of play or a walk, followed by dinner, relaxation, and plenty of snuggle time before bed around 10–11 PM. I’m very active and love spending time outdoors, so dogs staying with me get a great balance of exercise, mental stimulation, socialization, and rest. I also send daily photos and updates so you can see how much fun your pup is having!

Please let me know if your dog has any special needs so I can accommodate them. I would also like to know your dog’s temperament, whether they get along with other dogs, if they experience anxiety or fear in specific situations, their feeding schedule, any allergies, whether they are crate-trained, how they sleep at night, any activities they enjoy or dislike, and if they need any continued training while in my care. Additionally, please let me know if your dog can or cannot have treats. If applicable, I would also like to know about: • Your dog’s typical energy level and exercise requirements. • Any medical conditions, including medications they take and how they are administered. • Their grooming preferences or requirements (e.g., brushing, nail trims). • Any specific commands or cues they know or are being trained to learn. • How they react to strangers, new environments, or other animals (such as cats or wildlife), children, etc. - is your dog properly socialized with other dogs. Note: I can take your dog to local parks, the reservoir, swimming at my parents pool, or on walks if requested. I’m happy to meet any accommodations your pet needs. I do require a meet and greet for any new clients. This is the best way to ensure your dog will be comfortable in my home and to make sure you are confident in my ability to care for your pet. A meet and greet can be scheduled at any time, either in my home or at a nearby park. Please note: I will not be able to take in any dogs that have shown aggressive behavior, resource guarding or are not fully house-trained, except for puppies. I am happy to assist with potty training or house training for puppies. All dogs must be up to date on all shots and vaccines including flea and tick preventative. *** For doggy day care, I give discounted prices for coming multiple days in one week (Monday-Friday) or if you have multiple dogs, I can give a discounted price as well. I also offer half day prices.
