“Mara was fabulous with Wags. She paid close attention to what he needed and how he was doing. Communication with her was easy from booking through the visit. Will definitely use her again.”

“Matt was great with our dog and 2 cats. He sent us updates and asked questions when our directions were not clear. I felt that we knew what was going on at home and that all our furbabies were happy and well taken care of. Thanks, Matt!”

“Elena is very gentle and calm with our elderly dog with severe separation anxiety. Yet, our younger, playful, enthusiastic dog is very happy with her, as well. She is knowledgeable about dogs and their needs, and prompt and responsible. Thank you to Elena for taking such good care of our pups! We will definitely hire her again!”

“Susan was amazing with our animals. She was so communicative and sent us pictures and updates everyday. Our four pets were well taken care of for the week. This is the first time my wife and I had to both travel for work at the same time. Susan took the job last minute and bonded with all the animals right away. We highly recommend her and will definitely use her again.”

About: I’ve been petsitting for dogs and cats ever since I was younger for family friends. I’m currently studying Animal Care Management and Technology in college. I love all sorts of animals and love caring for them! I have experience caring for dogs of different ages, sizes and personalities, including taking them on walks, feeding and giving lots of attention! I am dependable, patient and committed to making sure every pet feels comfortable and loved while their parents are away. Right now I dogsit for my job! I have full availability so I can give your pets unlimited attention, personalized care and lots of affection. I’m happy to take your dog on walks, feeding them at their regular times and playing with them lots too of course! I try to keep your pets routine as consistent as possible to help them feel comfortable and reduce stress while you’re away.
“Kayla did a fantastic job! I’ve never hired a pet sitter before, so I was really nervous about how my animals would do. She was very reassuring and sent me pictures and updates every day. She did fantastically with the dogs, especially my really anxious one. I appreciated how attentive she was to my dogs’ health. She let me know quickly when one of them inevitably puked from stress and made sure they were both happy and tired before leaving for the day.”
“Patricia watch our two dogs Dora and Spark for over a week. This was the first time we had Patricia as our house/dog sitter and we will definitely request her services again. Patricia sent us pictures and kept us updated about the dogs. She promptly answered any of my emails and contacted us if she had any questions. Patricia also watered plants, feed the fish, and picked up the mail. The house was in perfect condition when we returned. I highly recommend Patricia.”

“We absolutely love Amy! Honestly, we were far away from home and are pretty sure our dogs were sad when she left and disappointed to see us. She gives expert walks, did bath time - which is a total circus, and even cleaned some of our muddy blankets. I will call Amy anytime we leave! She’s the absolute best.”

“Daysi was absolutely amazing. She came and met our dog, before house sitting while we were on vacation. Our dog has epilepsy and needs medication twice a day, she administrated everything perfectly. She sent a variety of pictures and kept us updated once a day (with detailed information). We will definitely be booking her again.”
About: I've been caring for animals since I was 10 years old, and over the years, friends and neighbors have trusted me with the special care of their beloved pets. For over a year, I worked in a lab-like setting providing daily care to a wide variety of exotic animals, including reptiles, amphibians, small mammals and birds. My responsibilities included feeding, cleaning, and general husbandry for each species. I also have experience caring for senior animals, including administering medication and performing nail trims, so I'm comfortable with pets who need a little extra attention and care. I currently work part-time and am finishing up my Associate's degree, which gives me a good amount of flexibility during the week to care for your fur babies. On days I work an 8-hour shift, there may be a slightly longer gap between potty breaks, but I always plan ahead and communicate clearly so you know exactly what to expect. Providing consistent, quality care for your animals is a top priority for me, no matter my schedule. When I care for your pets in their own environment, I bring nothing but comfort and love. I give excellent cuddles and scritches, and genuinely enjoy enriching their day with play. I know when to be calm and reassuring, and when to be playful and energetic, adapting to match each pet's unique personality. Every animal I care for receives quality, individualized attention tailored to exactly what they need. Above all, you can count on me to be reliable and consistent, every single time.
“We have had Amy doggie sit for us twice now. She is communicative, patient, and goes above and beyond for our dog. We have a anxious and complicated dog, Amy was so patient with our dog and she gave our dog the space and time she needed to warm up. Amy leaves the house tidy, the puppy happy, and us feeling comfortable leaving town. We look forward to using her again.”
“I highly recommend Dennise for her strong attention to detail, love shown to my animals and for being in consistent contact with me throughout my time away from home. She kept my house tidy! It is very clear she loves animals and cares for her clients wants/needs. I would use her again.”

About: I've been working with dogs since childhood - my parents raised Pekingese & Dobermans. Even at 8 years old, I helped mama dogs birth their pups. My schoolmates thought it was gross, most adults thought it was weird, but I thought it was super cool to be a part of bringing life into the world through adorable little squeaking pups. Even though we were very ethical & loving with our pups, many backyard breeders are not, so I no longer agree with that. But as an adult, I fell in love with rescues & adopted a few over the years. Then I decided I wanted to be more involved with Rescues. So... I became a Foster Parent, assisted Black Dog Rescue, & was an integral part of Cooper's Companions Animal Rescue in Colorado before moving to NC. I usually ended up fostering unadoptable dogs & working with them extensively until they became adoptable. Then followed up with their new pet parents to help ensure success & making it stick. My specialty is working with fearful dogs, teaching pet owners how to get the behavior they want from their pet, stopping jumping on people, food possessiveness, leash training, & training dogs to walk on a treadmill. We have 2 little dogs who had a big 'sister' for many years, so all size dogs are welcome; Both of our pups are super dog-friendly. One of them loves to play with other dogs after she gets to know them, and the other will play sometimes, but can be a bit of a snob. We want all dogs to enjoy staying with us, but... we won't tolerate a 'truly' aggressive dog in our home. My dogs might initially bark at other dogs, but they don't attack other dogs, so should either of my dogs be attacked or if a human is bitten, the offender will be separated & crated inside, or placed in our separately fenced kennel area outside (if you prefer) for the remainder of their stay. Any issues will be discussed with the dog owner to establish their preference in this regard. Otherwise, we'll shower your fur baby with love & attention so you won't have to worry about them when you're away. Please note: ***We will only board dogs which are spayed or neutered.*** If they are not spayed/neutered, I will be happy to do drop in or house-sitting care, but we will not be able to host in our own home. --- I require a meetup with dogs & their owners before actually accepting a booking. If you are unable to do this, I'm unable to take care of your fur babies. --- I work from home, so my availability is fairly open unless we're on vacation or if in the event that I have to go on a business trip. _____________________________________________________________________________ *** Important Note*** Doggie Day Care is for "up to 9 hours" each stay. If you need care for more than 9 hours, please schedule it as a boarding. Just let me know it's for an extended hours stay in a message. Otherwise, for requested stays exceeding 9 hours, I will send you a modification request changing it from 'day care' to the status of 'boarding' which costs more. If I have to send you a modification request & you don't want to pay a boarding fee for time exceeding 9 hours, you may choose to decline the change & it will never actually be booked with me. However, in this instance, you will need to find another sitter. Thank you for understanding... We have a fenced in yard for your pup to play in. The previous home owners put in a separate fenced kennel, so that's an available option in case you prefer your dog to be separated. It's unusual, but some people do prefer that. We almost never use it, though.
“Meredith was great! She met them a couple of times before we left, which really helped our older dog with anxiety. She connected so well with the pups. She kept us informed with pictures and videos, so we knew our pups were in good hands. She treated our home with care, too, which was appreciated. We would happily book with Meredith again!”

“Claire did a great job caring for our 9-month-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy while we were out of town for five days. This was our first time leaving him, and she made the experience stress-free with her excellent communication. She sent regular updates and pictures, which gave us great peace of mind. When we returned, our pup was happy and well cared for, and the house was spotless. I would absolutely recommend Claire to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter!”

“Pilar was great with my dog and two cats. She took amazing care of them and sent updates and pictures everyday while I was gone. I was especially impressed that my dog, who always sleeps under the covers in bed with me, actually listened and slept on the sofa chair by the bed for her since she mentioned she usually has the dogs sleep not in the bed. He did great with it for her and was right back in bed with me when I got home. I would definitely book with Pilar again!”

About: Hi there! I’ve had pets my entire life and currently have a 6 year old Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix, so I’m no stranger to high energy dogs that need structure, exercise, and plenty of mental stimulation. Through caring for my own dog and helping friends and family with theirs over the years, I’ve gained experience with everything from daily walks and feeding routines to enrichment, playtime, and providing extra patience for anxious or reactive pups. I genuinely enjoy getting to know each pet’s personality and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. One of the perks of working freelance is having a flexible schedule! That means I can often accommodate daytime walks, drop-ins, and last-minute requests. I love spending time with animals, so getting to care for pets throughout my week is something I genuinely enjoy. When caring for pets in a client’s home, my goal is to make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while maintaining their normal routine as much as possible. I’ve been trusted by friends and mutual friends to care for both their homes and pets over the years, so I understand how important that trust is and don’t take it lightly. I treat every home with respect, provide regular updates, and strive to give pet parents peace of mind while they’re away.
About: I’ve been in love with animals at a young age. When I was young I rescued a grey tabby when my mom was going to school. I raised him until he passed in 2020. In his memory, I’ve always been fond about cats. Oliver was not my only furry friend I had. I currently own a dog named Licky, two cockatoos, two pet rats, and an aquarium of fish…. And we have chickens, and ducks in our backyard! and we have three more cats! Boy, Samantha, and Lucy. I’m currently working at a summer camp for individuals with autism. My schedule is flexible during the holiday season. But I’m normally booked by summertime! I make the time to take care of animals if need be! I take care of my animals like they’re my own children. I love all my furry and feathered friends and I love your animals too!

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Woodlawn
We had to travel for two graduations and it was wonderful to know our dogs were being so well cared for while we were gone. Jennifer is great with communicating and is very reliable. She also sends cute pics of our dogs. This is the second time she has cared for our dogs and we will definitely connect with her again!

Kendric sat for our anxious dog, Gunner, for several hours one evening. Gunner took to her right away and was calmer with her than he has been for other sitters on their first stay. Kendric has a lovely calm energy and stuck to Gunner’s routine. We appreciated her punctuality and will definitely book her again.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Woodlawn walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Woodlawn maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Woodlawn choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Woodlawn. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
