“John and Jess were absolutely amazing with our Shih Tzus, Oliver and Khloe! This was the first time we’d left them since my husband passed away, so it was an emotional experience for my family. They were incredibly compassionate, kept us updated with photos and messages every day, and gave us complete peace of mind knowing our babies were happy, safe, and loved. They treated Oliver and Khloe like family, and their communication was outstanding from start to finish. We couldn’t have asked for better sitters. I will definitely be booking with them again very soon. Highly recommend them to anyone looking for kind, trustworthy people to care for their pets.”

“Mandie was wonderful and helped us with a six day stay with very short notice. Communication was perfect with quick responses and frequent updates with pictures. We definitely recommend Mandie and will surely be back!”

“Rachel and Jason took great care of our little Shi-Chi overnight. Pepper is usually such a creature of habit that we didn't know what to expect, but seeing the photos of her while we were away really put our minds at ease. Rachel even went the extra mile cuddling our little lap dog and seeing that her ponytail and bow were straight. Highly recommend!”

“This was my first time using the app and Sandra provided a safe and secure environment for my dog. She ensured that he was comfortable before I left, and also allowed me ensure that he was dafe before my departure. In addition, something came up and she allowed me to rebook in less than 48 hours as well as extend, she is very accommodating and provides plenty of updates. Thank you so much”

“Our pup had a great time with Rene! She gave us the most adorable updates with pictures of all of the fun he was having. We will definitely not hesitate to use her again!”

“Excellent! Went on vacation for a week and John and Marne made sure to send us frequent updates and photos of our pups. Loved seeing them being their active and happy selves. Will definitely be using them again and forgoing the typical boarding kennel. 5 stars!”

“Nala had a wonderful time with Erica, she can sometimes be anxy in new environments but she seemed like she was very comfortable at her place. I loved receiving pics and video updates. Erica was able to also calm my nerves as this was the first time I was leaving my dog with someone unknown. I would definitely book her again when need be in the future! ❤️”

“Emily was great and handled our 100 pound Doberman effortlessly. I never felt so comfortable going out of town. Our Doberman Zeus is cautious of new people and immediately loved Emily. She took him on long walks everyday and sent pictures. We will definitely be boarding him again with Emily.”

“They really showed a lot of love to my 10lb cockapoo, I could tell when we left she really liked them. This was my first time ever using Rover and was extremely satisfied and will definitely be contacting Dorian again if I need someone to watch.”

“Hannah took great care of my dog, Sheru, and kept me updated while I was traveling. She was responsive and flexible with drop-off and pickup arrangements. She also noticed signs of a possible UTI and thoughtfully suggested checking with a vet. I really appreciated her care and concern for Sheru. I highly recommend Hannah to anyone looking for a caring and reliable pet sitter!”

About: Hi! I’m Willa I’m a 29 year old living in downtown Frederick. Professionally, I am a licensed social worker. I had a dog from age 7 until he died when I was 22. I haven’t been able to get a new pet due to costs, but I love taking care of my friends dogs when they are on vacation so I decided to sign up here to make some money doing it. I can only board small to medium dogs due to the size of my apartment. I have a bed, food bowls, toys and treats but I do not have a crate. I’m responsible and respectful of other people’s homes. I can travel up to 15 miles to drop in on your pet before work, during my lunch break if needed, and in the afternoon/evening. I have experience with dogs of all sizes, various medical needs, and I have no problem cleaning up messes!
“Kate & Johnny are great! Super communicative, lots of photos & took great care of our pups! We had to shorten our reservation by one day and Kate was super accommodating. We would not hesitate to book again or recommend to others!”

“What a blessing Chloe was for peace of mind in leaving our sweet girl, Nellie, with her for the first time. Chloe sent pics and videos frequently which clearly displayed the care and attention she was receiving. She was treated as a valued member of the entire family!”

“Min and Matthew were exceptional sitters for my girl, Rani! Not only did they play with her endlessly (seriously, Rani has zero ability to self-regulate and they went with it!), they also cared for her as their own pup. When she was being finicky about eating, Min took the time to spoon feed her just like I do. Min also send so many pictures and videos, which helped me feel so at peace knowing Rani was well taken care of and loved. I will definitely be sending Rani back to Min and Matthew’s in the future…the 40 minute drive to/from our place is more than worth it!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Wooded Acres
Emily was the best dog sitter we have ever had. Our Cavalier, Mia, is a little shy, but Emily and her daughter made Mia feel right at home. They gave Mia tons of attention and affection and sent us many photos and updates. We highly recommend Emily, and we will definitely use her again.

Elaine did some a wonderful job with my pup! She kept him so well cared for and stayed in touch with me to ease my worries on the first day I left him with her. She made him right at home and when I picked him up he was peaceful and happy, which is quite a big deal for my anxious pup! I had a great experience with her all around and highly recommend her!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Wooded Acres home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Wooded Acres.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Wooded Acres sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
