“Megan is a great communicator and an amazing pet caretaker to our two cats. She was prompt with her visits, kept us updated, followed all instructions, and left our house in great shape. Highly recommend and will definitely ask her to cat-sit again.”

“Meisha did an amazing job caring for our cat Baxter. She is a reliable, communicative sitter. Meisha sent photos and updates at every drop-in and was easy to get a hold of if we had a question. We definitely plan to hire Meisha when we travel again in the future.”

“Zanubia was super communicative and took good care of our 3 cats. She kept us up to date on which ones she saw (we have 2 that regularly hide with new people) and took cute photos of the ones she saw. Would use again and would recommend!”

“Spencer was great with our senior pittie. He worked with her some on her separation anxiety. He arrived on time and left on time. He is a gem of a sitter and we look forward to having him back.”

About: I have always been around dogs (both big and small) and cats. I have also had a gecko and fish. I love playing and taking care of animals. I currently work full time but I am available after 4 pm. I always have Monday and Wednesdays off so I can help out anytime. I am so used to taking care of dogs that I can crate, feed, water, cuddle, walk, let outside and play. I will treat each and every pet as my own. I believe pets are family.

About: You want a sitter who follows your rules, doesn't get overwhelmed, and genuinely enjoys the quirks of your pets. That’s my sweet spot. With 20 years of experience, I’ve seen it all—from high-energy dogs who need a solid hike to burn off the zoomies, to sweet seniors who just need a gentle pace and their meds on time. I’m big on routine, clear communication, and respecting your space. Your pets get a reliable companion; you get total peace of mind. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine because I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and being active. I have a flexible schedule that allows me to give pets attention, consistency, companionship, exercise, and personalized care throughout the day. I enjoy creating, fun, positive experiences for pets whether that means walks, playtime, relaxing companionship, check-ins, enrichment activities, or simply helping them stick to their normal routine while their owners are away or busy. I also love to go on hikes close by and running those really active pups. I treat every pet like an individual and make time to ensure they feel comfortable, safe, and cared for. A typical day with me is calm, flexible, and tailored to your pet’s personality and energy level. Some pets want adventure, enrichment, and outdoor time, while others are happiest with companionship, routine, cuddles, and a relaxed environment. I focus on making pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while keeping owners updated with communication and photos. Depending on your pet’s needs, visits can include walks, playtime, enrichment activities, feeding, medication support, potty breaks, relaxing companionship, or outings for extra stimulation and exercise. I’m especially patient with shy pets, seniors, and animals who need extra reassurance or consistency. I believe pets do best when they feel understood instead of rushed or stressed. My goal is simple: happy pets, peace of mind for owners, and care that feels personal instead of one-size-fits-all.
“Faith was absolutely amazing. As a neurotic pet parent with no supports in the area, I don’t know what I would do without her and the peace of mind I was able to have while I was away. Faith was great with communicating with me and went above and beyond during her visits. She’s also a great photographer and got some pictures that added major wellness points for me! Would 10/10 recommend!”

“Anna was so amazing with our cat when we were out of town! Communication was great and we loved getting daily updates and pictures of our fur baby. I would definitely recommend Anna and will be booking again!”

“Heaven did two drop in visits for me and sent amazing updates! She is very friendly with a calming presence. She was able to come at odd hours which is so appreciated! She sent photos where I could tell the dogs were both very calm and happy. If I ever need her help again I won’t hesitate to reach out!”

“The very best! I will definitely use her again. She was kind enough to do a meet & greet the nite b4. I felt so comfortable and relaxed knowing my Desi was in the safest of care. ❤️”

About: I’ve taken care of family dogs for over five years and I truly take every dog in as my own! I am very active so I’m a huge fan of walks with pups! I will make sure dogs always feel at home with me. Pet care can be naturally woven into my routine. I prioritize consistency, comfort, and care, whether it’s a midday walk, playing at home, or simply spending quality time outdoors. Your pet’s well-being fits seamlessly into my lifestyle, and I take pride in treating every dog like they’re part of my family. I prioritize routine and comfort, caring for pets in their home or my home just as you would. I follow their schedules closely, keep them calm and engaged, and treat your space with the utmost respect. I will follow any and all instructions given for both care in my home and in yours.
About: As the sole owner of a Chiweenie who lived to be 16 years old, I have over 16 years of hands-on experience with senior dog care. I understand the patience and specialized attention that aging pets require. If your pet requires a slower paced walk, I’m more than happy to accommodate them. I know firsthand that our senior pets often have mobility issues and I’ll always be attentive to that. I know how much our furry family members mean to us and how critical it is to find a trustworthy caretaker. I am committed to keeping your pet safe and loved on every walk! ❤️ I’m currently working and going to nursing school part time so I’m available early morning between 6am-10:30am Mon-Friday. During the week I can also do a drop in visit or a quick evening walk after 7:30pm. On weekends I’m highly flexible. I had a small dog for 16 years who I took care of. I have a lot of experience with small and senior dogs. I spent some time a few years ago volunteering at the Davis County animal shelter where I also gained some experience with medium sized dogs.
“Edna took amazing care of my puppy! She took him on a walk and made sure he got a potty break and communicated very well. I will definitely book again if I need help with my puppy another day.”

“Madeleine was so loving to our kitty, and she was good at communicating updates/questions/concerns when they came up. I do prefer tighter scheduling communication/appointments, but she was great for the things that mattered.”

“Chris and his wife, Alex, were once again amazing! They helped us out with a last minute booking request and we are so so grateful. Alex sent the best updates and photos, and also very clearly had our cats personalities figured out in no time😂. We are lucky to have found them-highly recommend!!”
“Morgan did a great job with our big boy. We were out of the country and she came by for drop-in visits to give him fresh air and some activity. I know he looked forward to the fun visits by all the wonderful photos she took. Thank you Morgan!”

Chris seemed very attentive and reliable when it came to learning everything I was asking for, and making sure my cats stayed happy & healthy! He made fast friends with two of my cats, and left good reason to believe he was treating my 3rd with the proper care and patience, when I read his updates. He takes great photos and was easy going about an additional request I had for him that made my trip out of town the bee's knees - even though it was outside the scope of normal "cat" needs.

Kennedy watched my 3 dogs for a few days while I was out of town, including one that has stranger anxiety. All of them warmed up to her so quickly, including my anxious one, so I was very impressed! She sent updates during her stay and made me feel at ease about my babies. Would definitely book again!

I can tell my 14 year old baby Hope really enjoys your drop ins while we are out. The pictures and videos you send, Hope acts like she has known you for years. So calm and sweet to her. You already know what her favorite things are haha. Highly recommend and will continue to schedule. Thanks Lyndi!! 💜

Megan was fantastic with the extra challenges that came with my cat Tony. He’s difficult to administer medicine for and Megan was patient and willing to adapt. He also wasn’t feeling well and Megan cleaned up a few throw ups that Tony had while I was out of town!

Razan has been amazing with my girl. She helped me out by watching her for a weekend, but has become one of my go-to let out people during my long work days. She’s always sure to send pictures and videos as well as updates on how Cal is doing. In addition, my senior lady has some anxiety (especially after some recent moves) and tends to get into things. After she knocked over my trash can and spread the contents throughout the house, Razan happily cleaned it up for me as I was still stuck at work for the next few hours. Happy to have her helping us out and providing care for my girl while I’m away on trips or long work days.

Kelly was a great caretaker for my precious 18-year-old Kittie. Jasmine was very well-adjusted as I put it after having been gone for a whole two weeks. Very pleased with the care she received. I was very happy returning to everything being in order. Kelly followed the instructions closely and asked questions when she ran into a problem. I most enjoyed the dailey photos she would post on the Rover Report Card. I will be using her service again. Thank you Kelly -M

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
