Pet care experience

Pet lover with PAWSitive vibes 🐾

***Dog & Cat CPR / First Aid certified *** Ever since I can remember, I have loved and cared for cats and dogs of all sizes and breeds in my life. Whether it was my family dog Corky, my family cats Whiney & Boots, my own dog Gus, my brother's dog Baker, my family's dogs throughout the years Bear, Sid, Marley and Zoey, I have been blessed to have some wonderful animals come in and out of my life <3 In fact, my love for animals is so deep I was highly considering a career as a veterinarian when I was younger - that was my dream. Another dream involved me rescuing every pet and having them live on a farm with me :) Neither of these panned out, but the farm dream is still on the table! Almost 16 years ago, I fell in love with Gus (my feisty little chihuahua mix) at the shelter and made a commitment to take care of him for the rest of his life. He is almost 18 and experiencing kidney issues, but you would never know - he has not slowed down one bit! Due to the kidney issues, I proactively learned how to administer subQ injections for fluids from my vet in case this is needed down the road, so I have this skillset in case you need help with any senior or ailing dogs. Gus has also suffered from IVDD in the past and recovered, so if your pup has or is experiencing this, I know how to offer assistance and properly care for them (I also have an incredible pet physical therapist to recommend!). I heavily researched dog nutrition once I was told to get Gus on a science kibble diet. I declined the kibble and instead opted for a delicious home-cooked and nutritious diet, even involving a ground-up eggshell/pumpkin seed combo for supplements - let's just say Gus is living large these days! I step in often to help with my friend's pets and even saved my friend's cat Zorro who decided to embark on a homeward bound alley adventure one day - I just truly and genuinely love animals and have a knack for reading and understanding them. I also surprise many people I've met along the way in life when I randomly guess their dog's breed! I would love to meet you and your pet and see if I can help care for them with walks and/or companionship!

Pets

Safety, trust & environment

I can easily crate your pet if needed. I have a good sense of reading an animal to tell for the signs of discomfort and respect their space and eye contact, etc. The environment in my case would be your home, as I am offering dog walking services and/or companionship if you would like for someone to drop by, check on your pet and hang for an hour or anything. I would just ask that we can do a meet & greet for mutual safety reasons.

Rachel is very intuitive and worked well with my quirky little dog. She went above and beyond to make it work for her. She even stayed extra to give her time to relax enough to potty on their walk. She communicated well with questions she had or I had. We really appreciate her!

Let me know if your pet has any special needs that I should account for. I want to make sure they are comfortable and get the care they need. I am not opposed to “aggressive” breeds but I would like to understand your pet’s comfort with strangers prior to meeting so let’s set up a meet & greet!
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
