About: I have been a pet owner my entire life and have always had dogs or cats in my home. My wife and I currently have a dog who we adopted from a shelter. My wife is a certified Dog Trainer and is also employed by the local Humane Society, so we are both involved in the care of animals and absolutely love it! I mention this only to better emphasize our mutual love for animals. She has her own job and business and will not be assisting me in any way in my endeavor to employ myself as a Dog/Cat sitter/walker/care giver, etc. I am retired, and as such I am available most every day to help anyone in need of services, little to no advance notice necessary. I am retired and run a small book selling business out of my home. My business only takes an hour or so of my time each morning, so I am available almost anytime every day of the week to help care for dogs/cats. I have a senior dog in my home at the moment, a dog that my wife and I adopted from a rescue shelter. She is an inside dog, but we have 10 acres so when she goes out, she has freedom to run around. For clients, I am comfortable with any type of service necessary. I can take care of dogs in the house, take them for walks, feed them, hang out for a bit and play with them, etc. Most any service you need, I can do. I do take care of cats as well, although they do not really need much other than cleaning up, feeding, and some attention.

Jennifer was wonderful! She came to the RV park we were in and sat with Rocket (our lab) all day long while we took our two grandsons to Dollywood. Without her services we would not have been able to have such a memorable experience with the boys. We highly recommend her and will definitely ask for her again while in the area. Rocket loved her indeed!! Thank you!!!!

She kept the house very clean, almost like she wasn’t here lol I do wish there was a little more communication on just when she arrived and left but other than that, it was a great experience. She is very kind and seemed really good with the animals!

About: My name is Alexis, I have four dogs and three cats,I have always had a passion for helping animals and creating a healthy and happy environment for them. I am going back to school to become a veterinary technician. Our cats also have their own room and the dogs have the whole yard to themselves. We also socialized them at a young age so they are great with other animals and people. I am very patient with animals that are slower to warm up, I let them come to me whenever they are ready. I will treat your animals with the same love and affection as I do with my own.

About: I have been a veterinarian technician for 2.5 years total. Prior to that experience, I have cared for friends, family and neighborhood pets (including reptiles) while their families were away for one reason or another. They say that you can tell alot by how a person is perceived by animals- even troublesome dogs have grown to tolerate me so I can promise that your fur children will enjoy my company and care. I've gone back to school for Respiratory Therapy which means I'm free to love on the babies all weekend and any time after 3 PM on most weekdays (varies due to distance of travel). Imagine: your dog or cat could help me study for my next exam! I have 2 cats and 2 dogs at home. Everyone is on a strict feeding schedule and my oldest pup required medications morning and evening. I keep a clean and tidy home so you can expect that I'd run a super tight ship with your critters.

About: Home is where your heart is as your pets are in your heart, I take care of both while your away on vacation or a work trip. My fur babies are my world. So you can be rest assured I care for yours as they're my own! I can assist with pet care in your home or mine. I offer dog walking for when you are at work or away from home on holiday. Playtime is paramount for most pets. It keeps them engaged and happy. Dogs that are active should have extra activities while you're away. I'm an active person and I believe it's your pets utmost health benefit to have lots of playtime and outdoor time! I also have fostered and pet sit for elderly or more low key dogs and always provide just the right amount of activity to take any limitations so not to strain or over do. I am currently taking dog behavioral training classes. I have some behavior training for dogs to best understand your pet. As I am always seeking to further my studies. I have lead trained, potty trained, and offered basic training during my time of sitting. Do not hesitate to schedule a meet and greet. Be happy to meet ya! I do work full-time, but mostly from home. Pets need to be OK on their own without constant supervision and pets have to be playful and friendly with others. I have several pets of my own. I do separate dogs I pet sit from my dogs after playtime so each of them can rest. I do separate during eating times as well.

Sarah is amazing! She took wonderful care of our pups over the holidays. One of our dogs got very sick a few days before we were traveling, so we were very nervous about having to leave her. Sarah was very reassuring and handled everything magnificently! She kept track of all the new meds, feeding requirements and even took her to the vet for a follow up test. She sent us lots of updates and was really wonderful about communicating to calm our nerves. Most importantly, she gave our pups lots of cuddles, pets, love and care while we were away. We really can't recommend her highly enough!

Our dog felt safe and loved thanks to Jeanie's patience and care, making a stressful few days completely worry-free. We have a very nervous, "delicate" little dog, and we were worried how she would do with a sitter she didnt really know, but Jeanie did a really great job! She was incredibly attentive to Lucy's needs, taking the time to understand her anxieties. Her communication was excellent, she sent regular updates and photos that was reassuring every step of the way. It was clear that she has a genuine love and understanding for animals, and she went above and beyond to make sure lucy was happy and secure. We cannot recommend Jeanie more highly, she is professional, kind and dedicated. If you're looking for someone to treat your pet like family, Jeanie is the perfect choice!

About: Pets have been part of my caregiving life for decades. Through years of in-home care for elderly and ill clients, I’ve walked, fed, and loved countless dogs and cats — including seniors and pets needing medication. I treat every animal with the same patience and attention I give people. My daughter Summer is also a Rover sitter, and from time to time we co-sit for each other on longer bookings, always arranged and agreed upon with the pet parent in advance. As a retired caregiver, I have a flexible, open schedule and can give your pet consistent, reliable attention. I’m generally available most days and will work with you to find timing that aligns with your travel plans. I specialize in both short and longer-term overnight house and pet sitting. When I’m in your home, I treat it with the same care and respect I’d give my own. With years of experience managing households, I follow your pet’s routines, administer medications if needed, and keep everything safe, clean, and calm. Your home will be just as you left it, your pet even happier.

Susanna was wonderful with our pets. She sent a check in picture each day to keep us up to speed, and when we got back our dogs were calm and clearly had been loved and cared for while we were gone. They didn’t even seem super excited to see us which is a great sign that they had a good time with Susanna. ?

Elizabeth is an excellent pet host. My Britany, Juno was comfortable with her from the first moment. Liz was engaging with Juno, going on walks or just letting him roam and play. Over a three day period, Liz was flexible with our schedule and even took Juno to her house one day to play with her dog. She sent me photos of his happiness and activity each session. He was happy and I am too!

FAQs for House Sitting - Whitesand

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Whitesand on Rover is $42.18 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 198 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Whitesand. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Whitesand walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Whitesand maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Whitesand choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Whitesand. On Rover:

  • 85% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
