About: Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and caring for them is something I genuinely love. I have hands-on experience working as a veterinary assistant, where I safely handled dogs and cats of all sizes, administered medications and vaccines under veterinary supervision, monitored pets during recovery, and learned to recognize signs of illness or distress. I'm also experienced with senior pets, puppies and kittens, and pets that need a little extra patience or special care. Whether your pet needs an energetic walking buddy, someone to stick to a medication schedule, or simply lots of love and attention while you're away, I'll treat them like one of my own. I know how important trust is when leaving your pet with someone, and my goal is always to provide safe, reliable, and compassionate care while keeping you updated with plenty of photos and messages. I'm currently taking a gap year before beginning my bachelor's degree in Wildlife Ecology Management at Auburn University. This gives me a flexible schedule, allowing me to provide dependable pet care throughout the week. My availability may vary slightly from day to day, but I keep my calendar up to date and always communicate clearly. Whether your pet needs a walk, a drop-in visit, or extra attention while you're away, I'm committed to providing reliable, compassionate care. Your pet's safety, comfort, and routine are my top priorities. With my experience as a veterinary assistant, I'm comfortable caring for dogs and cats of all ages, sizes, and personalities, including seniors and pets that require medication. During every visit, I'll make sure your pet has fresh food and water, plenty of exercise or playtime, bathroom breaks, and lots of love and attention. I always respect your home, follow your care instructions closely, and provide regular updates with photos so you can have peace of mind while you're away. My goal is to make your pet feel safe, comfortable, and cared for until you return!

Abby did an amazing job house sitting and caring for our 11 year old pup. She played ball with her after each feeding, checked in on her in between feedings, kept my plants from dying in this Alabama summer heat, and sent us regular updates and photos. We have already rebooked with her and feel like we have found our permanent sitter in her. We couldn’t be more happy…and neither could our fur baby!

About: I’ve cared for my two family dogs, Adonis & Asha, since I was 13, gaining hands-on experience with daily routines like feeding, walking, bathing, and providing lots of love and attention. While I haven’t done professional pet sitting yet, I understand how important it is to treat pets like family. I’m reliable, caring, and committed to making sure your pet feels safe and happy while you’re away. I’m currently working part-time, while getting my Master’s at Auburn online! So I’m free pretty much all day long to care for and love on your pups while you’re away! When caring for pets in a client’s home, I do my best to follow the pet’s normal routine so they feel safe and comfortable. I make sure they’re fed on time, get plenty of playtime or walks, and have a clean space. I also pay close attention to any special instructions—whether it’s medications, quirks, or favorite toys. I treat every pet like they’re my own, with patience, care, and love.

Arianna was absolutely wonderful! She was incredibly communicative from start to finish, friendly, and made us feel completely at ease while we were away. She was amazing with our dog and even brought him treats, which was such a thoughtful touch. She sent us lots of pictures and updates, and it was obvious he was happy and well cared for. On top of that, she even did a little light housekeeping, which was completely unexpected and absolutely not necessary, but so appreciated. It was such a kind gesture. We came home to a happy pup and a tidy house, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We would absolutely book Arianna again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring sitter!

About: I have two dogs of my own, and been around dogs my entire life. Have dog sat for family and co-workers before. New to Rover, but would treat your four legged best friend like it was my own pet! I am new to the Opelika area and between jobs. Currently, I have lots of flexibility with my schedule and can make any day of the week work. I do have two dogs of my own at home, that I would need to make sure are taken care of , but currently can make any day or time of day work for your animals schedule. I will gladly follow any rules or guidelines you have set for your fur baby so they can continue their routine when you are not home. If they need to go on walks, or just play in the backyard!

About: I grew up on a farm so I’ve been around animals all my life. Family and friends have trusted me for all of their pet-sitting needs for years. I currently have two dogs. I’ve dog sat dogs of all ages in my home and in the owners’ homes. Last fall, I witnessed a man dumping two dogs near my home. One of them was pregnant. We were able to raise the puppies and give them and the mom to loving homes. We kept the other dog and now her and the chiweenie that we already owned are best friends. I also have experience with special needs dogs. My chiweenie recently lost his left eye after another dog jumped on him. I've learned to be patient with him as he regains confidence and navigates everyday life with one eye. I am a full-time student at college. I do not have a job but I am looking for a part-time gig to do along with pet care. My classes aren't all day so I would be able to care for pets in the morning and as needed in the later afternoon/night. In the client’s home, I can feed, water, play with and follow whatever specific instructions I’m given. I can walk your dog on a leash and make sure they always have water.

About: I have always loved animals. I started walking my neighbors dog when I was 15. I have dog sat for many ranging from family, friends, neighbors, and mutuals. I am a recent Auburn grad and do not currently have a full time job. Not many jobs offer me a flexible schedule like this does and I am trying to save money and keep my self busy post-grad. I am always available unless otherwise noted on my calendar. I do not have a dog in Auburn, only when I travel to Foley to stay with family is there a dog in the house. I will abide by the owners preferences but I don’t promise I won’t fall in love with your dog. I love all shapes and sizes of dogs and will take care of them as they are my own. I will give your dog as much attention as he or she wants.

About: I bring hands-on experience from working in both kennels and animal shelters, where I’ve cared for dogs and cats of all breeds and temperaments. My time in these settings has taught me the importance of routine, trust, and compassion. I also have a unique skill set in caring for exotic animals, making me versatile and prepared for any type of pet. Whether it's a playful puppy, a senior dog needing extra attention, or any other kind of pet that requires specialized care, I’m ready to provide the best care for your furry (or scaly) friend! As a college student on a pre-vet track, I’m used to balancing a busy schedule while still making time for animals. I have multiple availability blocks throughout the week, which makes it easy for me to fit pet care into my routine. I’m organized and plan ahead, so I can make sure pets get consistent care whether that’s daily walks, feeding, playtime, or check-ins. Caring for animals is already a big part of my life and future career goals, so I naturally prioritize it in my day-to-day routine. I care for pets by treating them like family and making sure they feel safe, happy, and loved. In a client’s home, I stick closely to their usual routine for meals, walks, and playtime so they stay comfortable in their own environment. I’ve had many pets of my own over the years, so I understand how important it is to give them not just the basics like food and water, but also attention, patience, and affection. Every pet has their own personality, and I enjoy getting to know what makes them feel most at ease.

About: Hi! My name is Madeja, and I honestly can’t imagine a full, happy life without pets. Animals have always been a huge part of my world, and caring for them comes naturally to me. I’ve worked in education and the nonprofit sector since 2015, so patience, responsibility, structure, and clear communication are a big part of who I am. I bring that same care and attentiveness to every pet I look after. I’ve had pets my entire life, starting with my first dog, Gin Gin, a Shih Tzu, and my second dog, Biggie Smalls, a toy poodle. Over the years, I’ve loved and cared for many animals, including Chance, my Shih Tzu of 13 years; Malibu, my pit bull of 13 years; Newman, my cockapoo of 12 years; and Nacho, my cat of 4 years. I currently have a Frenchie puppy and a 5-year-old Frenchie/Pug mix. I also have experience with a variety of breeds, including Dachshunds, Rottweilers, Collies, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, and more. I’m comfortable with different personalities, energy levels, routines, and needs. I have house-trained my own pets and taught basic commands, including some sign language cues. My approach is patient, positive, and loving. I believe pets thrive with consistency, kindness, and someone who truly pays attention to them. Whether your pet needs walks, playtime, cuddles, structure, or just a calm and caring presence, I will treat them like they are my own. I also run a babysitting business where families can book me online, so I understand how important trust, reliability, and communication are when caring for someone you love. I’d love the opportunity to care for your furry family member and hope to hear from you soon! Pet care is already part of my daily routine because I have two dogs of my own. My day naturally includes feeding, walks/potty breaks, playtime, cleaning, cuddle time, and keeping pets on a consistent routine. I’m comfortable adjusting to each pet’s schedule, whether they need structure, extra attention, medication reminders, puppy care, senior care, or just companionship while their family is away. I’m flexible, communicative, and will make sure your pet gets the care, patience, and love they deserve. Your pet will be treated like family in my 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom house with a backyard, living room, kitchen, and dining room. I provide a calm, loving, and pet-friendly environment with close supervision, plenty of attention, and space for pets to feel comfortable. Depending on their needs, pets will have independence in a pet-friendly home, while still being safely monitored and cared for. I have two friendly dogs, but I understand that every pet has different comfort levels, so I can separate pets, use crates, provide quiet space, and follow your preferred routine as needed. I keep water available, monitor behavior closely, and pay attention to eating, potty habits, energy levels, and mood changes. My background in education and caregiving has taught me the importance of patience, safety, consistency, and clear communication. Your pet will be loved and cared for as if they were my own.

I left my 3 dogs with Abby(Mary) for a week. She did a great job of communicating with me, including sending photos. One dog had a bandage on her foot that came loose. Abby took care of the rebandaging and did a great job! I highly recommend Abby and will be calling on her again for my future travel needs.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Whatley Cross Road on Rover is $52.73 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 318 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Whatley Cross Road. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Whatley Cross Road walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Whatley Cross Road maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Whatley Cross Road choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Whatley Cross Road. On Rover:

  • 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
