“Sara did an excellent job caring for our dog and cats. She kept us updated throughout the stay, sent plenty of photos, and really helped put our minds at ease knowing they were in good hands. She kept them engaged with activities and lots of mental stimulation, and it was clear they were comfortable and well cared for. We would absolutely book with her again.”

“Stayed overnight with our 3 dogs. She was very flexible with our house and living situation being under construction. Provided cuddles and care to the dogs. Very thankful to have the house and pets taken care of while we were away. Thank you!”

“Eden was absolutely wonderful! She did a great job with my two boys, sent lots of pictures, and stayed in constant communication about what was going on!! Will absolutely be using her services again.”

“Sarah was awesome! This was our first time trying out the "house sitting" option on here, and we felt like our fur babies loved meeting a new friend! We needed to go out of town and unfortunately the family friend who was going to look after the dogs, needed to cancel, so I reached out to a couple sitters on here and Sarah got right back to us - we scheduled a meet and greet and confirmed! We felt very comfortable with her staying at our place and watching our three dogs. She updated and sent photos, which was wonderful. When we got home, they seemed happy which is most important. Definitely will request house sitting again from her!”

About: I’ve taken care of animals for years for my family and friends and even been recommended to other families as well as a regular. I have two cats and a dog at home and have always came home to a zoo. I’m very detailed and clean when it comes to pet sitting, I’ll keep up with all requirements needed for pet care. I just love animals and would love the opportunity to care for yours as well! I am available during the week, I’ll respond starting at 9am based on my routine and I’m up the latest being 10pm. If needed to come early or stay late, I genuinely do not mind! If you need me to come a certain day, let me know a couple days in advance! I’ve moved around a bit and taken care of animals in different environments. For my own dogs now and in the past I usually walk them on a leash outside 3 times a day. I mean I have also had clients ask me to let them outside in their yard and go to the bathroom. For my cats at home I clean the litter every morning and feed them twice a day usually. It just depends, and I understand everyone takes care of their pet in their own way so I can go based on the routine you give them!
“Dakota and his fiancée are amazing at taking care of our pets and home. They are so trustworthy and always say when they are going to be there. Our home is well taken care of too where you don’t feel like you have to clean your home when you get back from vacation. But most of all it’s the feeling of ease that I get when I’m on vacation and I don’t have to worry about my fur babies. I am a repeat booker with Dakota and will continue to do so.”

“Emma was wonderful with great communication! She took fantastic care of our dogs and house, made sure everything was clean before we got home! Already plan to have her housesit our dogs again for an upcoming trip. Highly recommend Emma!”

“William and Jessica were amazing! They were so kind and patient with our nervous, anxious dog who took awhile to warm up, and quickly charmed her with treats. They gave us frequent updates and clearly gave all our animal friends tons of love and attention. They were really responsible and professional, and we booked them for our next trip right away!”

“Gunnar watched our dog for four days and everything went smoothly. We had frequent updates and pictures, a super clean home to come back to and a happy dog! Gunnar was responsive and respectful and we will book with him again.”

About: My neighbors trust me to take care of their furry friends when needed. I’ve since moved away for college and hope to meet more pet parents through Rover! I’m currently studying for the MCAT part-time, so my schedule is flexible and I am free to take care of your pet any day of the week! I can easily stay overnight and or simply go for a walk. I live in a pet-friendly townhome with my sister who also loves animals. We have a spacious living room that can accommodate a crate and an unfenced yard.
“10/10 fabulous experience! Carol was extremely communicative, asked to book a meet & greet despite my last minute booking, was super responsible with our home & left it in great shape, and was just a really lovely person. I cannot overemphasize how well she reads dogs - for instance, my barky pom was being his usual guard dog self, and she mentioned she was going to stop doing eye contact with him so he would have a chance to settle. And he settled very quickly! She's so experienced with dogs, and it was a huge bonus that I found out that she has fostered dogs in the past. You have to have a lot of empathy, hope, flexibility and patience to be an animal foster parent, and I love that she came to us with all that and more. I've lost track of all the cool things she did - she tended to our plants, she took my dogs on jogs very often, improved my recipes for the dog's treats and food according to health needs.... the list goes on and on. All with Carol being very chill and sweet and super easy to work with. I'd have her back in a heartbeat. All my dogs LOVED her, from the puppyish 2 year old to the old lady 13 year old in our pack. 5 stars, 10/10, easy stress-free experience!”
“Tensie took great care of my mastiff mix, Rusty. She checked in with lots of pictures and multiple walks throughout the weekend. I'll definitely go to her again if I need another dog sitter!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - West Valley
Elyse did an amazing job with my dog. He was a happy boy when mama returned and the house was spotless like she wasn’t even here. I really appreciated the 2 special times she and her husband went out of their way to visit Buddy and get to know him before the job. He went for walks and played the whole time and is tired. This was only a weekend but she is trusted now for a possible 7 to 10 day house sitting next time. Thank you so much Elyse.

I am so impressed by Lyn. They were on time, cheerful, listened to the care instructions intently, and greeted Sophie with joy and kindness. Sophie is normally nervous for me to leave her, but this time she didn't bat an eye. She knew she was in good hands. Lyn sent pictures and responded quickly to check ins. When we arrived home I could tell that Sophie really enjoyed her time with Lyn. I can't recommend them enough to care for your pet!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred West Valley walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in West Valley maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in West Valley choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in West Valley. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
