Traylor did an absolutely incredible job with our dogs and was very easy to adapt to our dog that has mega esophagus. Like other reviews have said, our house was left in a very clean state, and she even went above and beyond with cleaning the prepped dog food containers. We will be calling on her services again, for sure.

Kimmie was amazing with our husky Royal. She came over before hand and talked with us to know what to expect. Royal loved her!! Since working from home, we never lock him up anymore, so it was great that she could stay with him and work from my home! She sent updates and was great communicating with me. We'll be repeat customers with her for sure. I've had a bad experience with the last person I booked so I was nervous about booking again, but Kimmie put my mind at ease and did a fantastic job!

Elva was a great house/pet sitter for us! This is the first time we have ever needed one for our 12 year old dog and we couldn't be happier with the service she provided. I appreciated that she was willing to come before we left to meet us and learn our dog's current routines. I came back home to the house still being clean and a happy dog. I will definitely reach out to Elva again for any upcoming trips!

Whether I’m caring for pets in my home or in a client’s home, I prioritize their safety, comfort, and routine. I carefully follow feeding schedules, provide fresh water, take dogs on walks, clean up after them, give them plenty of attention and playtime, and make sure they feel comfortable while their owner is away. I also respect my clients’ homes by keeping everything clean, secure, and following any specific instructions they provide.

Shayla went above and beyond of what was expected of her. She has impeccable communication skills and always gave me great updates on both of my dogs. One of my dogs has high anxiety so he can be a handful. Shayla was able to handle his little quirks with ease. She even went as far as cleaning up after both of my dogs when the house got dirty because of them being outside. Took out the trash when she left and locked up. In essence, everything you would expect as if she was renting an Airbnb. I would 10/10 recommend her.

Jayd did a fantastic job taking care of my Nova! This was the first time I’ve been away from Nova since I adopted her a year ago, and she’d already had 3 other owners before me, so needless to say I was nervous about leaving her. But Jayd was so caring of Nova and did a fantastic job communicating with me, sending lots of pictures and updates, and it really put my mind at ease. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for someone to watch their pets! A million thumbs up!

I can’t say enough! She is awesome! Took amazing care of my puppies. House looked great! My puppies desperately need to be groomed, but I had to cancel their appointment. If I’m honest, I’m horrible at brushing them. She took the time to brush both of them out and they looked 10 times better when I got back. Will definitely use again!

About: 🐾 New to Rover, Not to Pet Care! Hi, I’m Shelby! 👋 Although I’m new to Rover, I’ve been caring for dogs and cats for 12+ years. From playful puppies to senior pets and those with special needs, I provide patient, reliable care tailored to each pet’s unique personality and routine. ❤️ As a Direct Support Professional, caring for others is what I do every day. You can count on me to be dependable, attentive, and treat your pets like family. ✨ What you can expect: 🐶 12+ years of pet care experience 💊 Medication administration 🐾 Experience with puppies, seniors & special needs 📸 Frequent photo updates 🚶 Walks, playtime & enrichment 💙 Lots of love, cuddles, and personalized care I know leaving your pet with someone new can feel overwhelming. My goal is to give you peace of mind while making sure your pet feels safe, loved, and right at home. I’d love the opportunity to meet you and your furry family! 🐕🐈 I work full time swings typically 3p-10/12p it varies during the week. When I’m not working I’m a home body so your pets will have company with them most of the morning. I do know my schedule usually a month in advance so I am able to let you know before you officially book and you can decide if it works for you. I prefer to stay in their home which allows them to stay comfortable and in their own environment, new places can cause fur babies unnecessary stress and no one wants that. I prefer to keep their routine as normal as possible as well so if they get fed at 5 am I set an alarm to ensure they get fed at their normal time as well.

About: I’ve grown up caring for all kinds of pets, including dogs, chickens, hamsters, guinea pigs, and more, so taking care of animals has always been a natural part of my life. I’ve also had the opportunity to care for friends’ pets and homes, which has led to recommendations from families who trust me with their dogs. I’m comfortable caring for dogs of all ages, from playful younger dogs to seniors who may need extra patience and attention as they lose their hearing or other senses. I take the time to understand each pet’s personality and needs and treat them with the same care, patience, and responsibility I would give my own. Pet sitting fits naturally into my daily routine because I work part-time, usually from 5 AM to 10 AM, and I occasionally work an early morning to afternoon shift. But my shifts are still only about five hours, so your pets won’t be left alone for very long. This gives me plenty of time throughout the day to hang out, play, give attention, and make sure they’re happy and comfortable while you’re away. When caring for your pet in your home or taking them on a walk, I prioritize their safety, comfort, and well-being at all times. I follow your instructions and routines closely, pay attention to their behavior and needs, and make sure they receive plenty of care, attention, and exercise. Whether we’re relaxing at home or out on a walk, you can feel confident knowing your pet is being treated with patience, responsibility, and genuine care.

About: With years of Rover experience at our previous home, in south Jordan, we’re excited to continue the adventure in Syracuse. Available for boarding, and walks on Tuesday/thursday/saturday/sunday. My partner and I have opposite schedules so there is always someone home to take care of your pups! I work from home on Tuesdays and Thursdays for drop in walks, as well as free all weekend. We have a fenced yard with two pups that will show them how to enjoy the space. We love all the snuggles and your pups are welcome on alllll the furniture (except the kitchen table, that’s too much 😂)

Kianna was wonderful! Dealing with 3 Boxers plus a cat is a bit much for most people, but Kianna handled them all perfectly. Kinko our cat even let Kianna pet him which is impressive as he is pretty spicy most of the time (can’t blame him with 3 large Boxers in the household). Her concern for our albino Boxer was very much appreciated as well as he is very attached to his humans. With the limited WIFI availability we had during the trip was great for brief communication and receiving some photos of our boys too from Kianna. 100% would book again with Kianna for future needs.

This was our third time having Traylor watch our dogs, and at this point, she’s officially their favorite person. They LOVE her and it gives me so much peace of mind, knowing they’re happy and while taking care of while we’re away. Traylor is incredibly reliable and communicative. If she needs to leave the house, she always lets me know, tells me when she’ll be back, and is back when she says she will be. I never have to wonder what’s going on or worry about the dogs. We absolutely love having her stay with them and will continue booking her anytime we need a sitter. She’s the best!

Tayla was very kind and took great care of our Sammy girl! She washed the sheets and towels used which was not expected and we are appreciative of that extra step to leave the house clean for us! I would like a few more updates and pictures while we are gone to keep better communication (Sammy is our baby)! Other than that, she did wonderful and we would absolutely use her again! FAQs for House Sitting - West Point

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in West Point on Rover is $33.3 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 1,692 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across West Point. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred West Point walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in West Point maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in West Point choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in West Point. On Rover:

  • 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
