“Mikayla did a great job caring for our pups overnight. She even kept up with their medicine regime and reminded me when pills were out. I appreciated that she left our place clean and was respectful. Would definitely reach out again.”

“Hannah was awesome! It was so nice being able to leave our dog at our home vs boarding. He was very well cared for and was his happy typical self when we got home. We’d definitely request Hannah’s pet sitting again!”
“We are SO glad we found Tyler… couldn’t be happier! He stayed with our sometimes over reactive dog for a week and it went well . Tyler is very attentive and kind. Sent updates and could easily be reached. Kept house clean and neat. Was great before our trip coming over to let our dog get used to him. So appreciated… will definitely use him again! Feel like we can go away and our dog is in caring hands. Thanks Tyler!!”

“Zania was absolutely fantastic with our pit bull & cats. Our pittie is calm & lovey inside, but when he gets outside, he’s a crazy man. Zania handled him with great ease and is very knowledgeable with dogs and training. We had 1 night away and we were updated about walks, feedings, pictures, and given a bedtime pup-date ( update at the end of the day) We could not have asked for more. We are thrilled to welcome her to our house for more pet sitting.”

“We had a wonderful experience with our Misty. She took care of our two dogs, including one who has medical issues and requires medication. She made sure the pills were given on schedule and handled everything with care and responsibility. It gave us great peace of mind knowing our dogs were in such dependable hands. She was reliable, attentive, and clearly cares about the animals she watches. We would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy dog sitter.”

“Melissa was very responsive to our initial request and gave our older dog, Sadie, excellent care! Would highly recommend. We will ask for her specifically the next time we need in-home pet care!”

About: I grew up with pets since I was a little girl - raising 3 dogs and 2 cats. I’m currently not a pet owner, because although I’d love to, I live in a small apartment! However, I frequently help out family and friends with their own pets - rather that be pet sitting for a short weekend or walks throughout the day! I’m flexible and attentive. I can help with, but I’m not limited to: Feeding pets and putting out fresh water Brushing and grooming pets Bathing pets Cleaning litter boxes Walking dogs in all kinds of weather Vacuuming up pet hair Giving medications Taking pets to the vet in emergency situations Notifying owners of any injuries or sickness, and keeping them updated on their pets and home I look forward to working with you! I’m currently focused on building a flexible work schedule, which gives me plenty of time to provide attentive care for your pets. I’m available for walks, drop-ins throughout the week and weekends. I enjoy staying active, so regular walks, playtime, and keeping pets company fit naturally into my daily routine. I’m also communicative and dependable, and I’ll make sure your pet gets lots of love, attention, and updates while you’re away. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I provide a calm, loving environment where pets can feel secure and cared for. I’m attentive to feeding schedules, medication instructions, potty breaks, and individual personalities or needs. I understand that every animal is different, so I take the time to help them feel comfortable and build trust at their pace. I’m happy to provide updates, photos, and consistent communication so you can feel confident your pet is in good hands.
About: I have had dogs my entire life and every single one of them has had a piece of my heart! I presently have two senior dogs and one three-year old, who probably feels as passionately about dogs as I do! I have also lived with, loved, and taken care of several cats over the last 13 years. Growing up, I was responsible for taking care of my family’s lizards and frogs. I presently am able to control my own schedule and can make myself available for any last-minute or unexpected pet care needs that you may have. Currently, my only blocked off time for certain is Wednesdays from 5:30pm-9:30pm In my home, I have a fenced in yard to ensure that outside time is safe and fun. If you do not have a fenced in space but are still looking for your pup to have some outdoor time, I always ensure a leash is used to keep them safe. I have successfully used components of behavior analysis to build trust and confidence in my own dogs, while also ensuring that I understand their own behavioral cues to prevent stress in new or different situations. This includes shaping behaviors, frequent reinforcement, and pairing with new dogs to demonstrate that I am a safe person in their environment. Should transportation ever need to occur, I have a seat belt that clips to any standard harness as well as a seat cover that prevents climbing over the center console. I have a number of 6-foot leashes as well as 2 30-foot leashes to allow for safe running in open spaces, and an expandable 10-foot leash.
“Emily was respectful of our house and left it exactly how it was found. It was so nice knowing the dogs were in good hands and well taken care of. Hopefully Emily is available every time we need a dog sitter b/c I’d welcome her back each and every time! Thank you, Emily, for taking care of Tyson and Lilly while we enjoyed our last camping trip of the season.”

“Amazing experience with Tiffany! She literally saved our week. At the last minute our regular dog sitter was unable to come, so I reached out to Tiffany (based on her previous great reviews). I think she heard the panic in my voice and reassured me that she could help out! She stopped in later that evening for a meet and greet. Totally put my mind at ease. Her visit included mother’s day and she rearranged her time with her family to be able to accomodate us! House looked great when we came home and Lucy very happy. Would highly recommend Tiffany!🐾”

“Kay stayed with my sweet Rey for two weeks this summer. Rey loved her and so did I! Kay is super caring, playing with Rey, paying attention to any changes in Rey’s behavior, staying on top of food and medication. She kept me up to date with Rey’s activities and also sent me pictures (which I absolutely adored)! When I returned my house was clean and in order, my plants were cared for, Rey was happy and healthy, and I couldn’t be more pleased. I totally recommend Kay and we’re definitely having her stay with Rey again.”

“Sydney took great care of our two cats and our house while we were away for the weekend. She kept us well informed with plenty of updates (at our request!). She’s very professional and she left our place looking better than when she found it! We would absolutely trust her to care for our kitties and home again.”

“Alexandria did a meet and greet before booking so that we could get an idea if she was a right fit for our two dogs. She was responsible and sent pictures of our dogs. Would definitely use her again!”

About: I have had all kinds of pets growing up; Dogs, cats, fish, iguana, domestic rabbits, goats, chickens, (oh my!) since I was about 5 years old. I admire every single creature as if they were my very own. This lead to me making it a side hustle (small biz gig) my senior year of high school (2012). Just recently made a Rover account and excited to meet new clients and new pets 😁. I’m very reliable in house sitting, drop-ins, walking, feeding, and administering meds. Just name it you got it! SCHEDULE I work part-time right now, so I am flexible to help meet you & your pets needs. I can help with drop-ins, evening walks most weekdays/weekends. Just hit me up let's work something out! :)) HOUSE SITTING/OVERNIGHT STAYS I'm requesting at least a one week notice for an overnight stay. I have three pets of my own, volunteering, and working part time, so I'll need to adjust my schedule accordingly! I have two golden girls 🐶 and a cat who still all kitten. A mix of low & high energy in my household so I give my cat at least an hour of playtime, and my girls just love to cuddle right up next to you.
“Lexie was such an amazing sitter! She took care of my pup for a week while I was out of the country. She was very communicative and took great care of my Remi. She sent me daily updates (often times 2x) and made sure that my high-energy guy was active (and tired) and well cared for. She also helped me out at the last minute, picking up a package for me. I felt so at ease having Lexie as our dog sitter and will absolutely use her again in the future.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - West Lancaster
Tyler was fabulous with my dogs. Three retrievers, two golden and a very anxious mixed lab. The lab took to him immediately. Tyler updated regularly with pics and texts. Last minute one of the holders developed a terrible hot spot requiring special care. Tyler was accepting of the challenge and nursed the poor guy back to health. I would recommend Tyler highly! He left our home as if he was never there and our dogs happy! I will use Tyler again in the future!!!

Tyler stayed with our two high-needs Boston terriers for a week. Not only did he take incredible care of the pups, he left our place completely immaculate, even taking care of laundry and sweeping up. He is so above and beyond, and we felt very comfortable during our trip thanks to his frequent updates and thorough care. Thanks so, so much for being so great to our wild pups!

Sydney was great with Chloe. She was super communicative. And did way more than she signed up for. Chloe was on a Medicine by the time of the visit, and helped with our pool maintenance, flower watering, etc. I would have her again in a heartbeat. Chloe was in great hands.

This was our first time using Misty for an overnight stay since moving to Lancaster, and she made the entire experience easy and reassuring. Like many pet parents, our dogs are spoiled and not used to being left behind, so finding someone we could trust was important. Misty was responsive, communicative, and professional from the start. She made the sign-up and scheduling process simple, took the time to meet our dogs beforehand, and kept us updated throughout her stay. While we were away, she sent regular photos and sweet updates, which gave us real peace of mind. When we returned, the house was in perfect order and the dogs were happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. We are so grateful to have found Misty and will absolutely use her again in the future.

Ally was sensational. I’ve never had my pets take to someone so quickly. Ally went the extra mile to make sure our fur babies were taken care of while we were away. When my old pup wasn’t eating due to us being away, she brought pumpkin puree to encourage her to eat. 😁 We also just got 2 new kittens and she made sure to protect any areas they wanted to attack and keep everything in one piece 😂. We highly recommend Ally and look forward to her caring for our babies next time we’re away.

Hannah was wonderful! She was communicative the whole time and I felt that my cats were in the best hands. She tried several things when one of the cats wasn’t eating well and got her back on track. Hannah also ended up staying an extra day when our flight got cancelled and her willingness and flexibility to do that made a very stressful situation much easier to deal with.

Marlena was fantastic! She met w Nova and he instantly loved her. She kept me updated w pics along the way. He was happy and calm- and as a 13yo cranky senior- that’s a big ask! She definitely was an excellent fit and I am so happy to have found and worked with her!

FAQs for House Sitting - West Lancaster
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in West Lancaster on Rover is $66.6 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 1,197 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across West Lancaster. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred West Lancaster walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in West Lancaster maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in West Lancaster choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
