About: Your pets are in great care ,while you’re enjoying your time away your dogs will be in safe hands living their best lives having fun at the beach. I will keep in contact throughout their stay, send photos and let you know how they are getting on. I have had the same clients for 5 years every week. I’m a stay at home mum, with all the fun. I moved from England to west gilgo 5 years ago. They will have company and walks throughout the whole day and the comfort of my home through the night. When my parents come to visit also throughout the year they get extra love. Walks throughout the day, fresh water is checked often, always plenty of love and comfort to give. I treat them as if they are my own, I have had dogs my whole life up until last year. I follow instructions that are given. Have to be child friendly

About: Ive had experience with all types of animals, dogs, cats, furry ones, even reptiles. Ive house sat, and dog sat for friends when they go away for the past few years. I can also take care of reptiles, cats, and small furry animals. I understand having animals, and going away can be stressful with finding someone who you trust with your loved pets. I will care for them as if they’re my own. I have a full time career in Law Enforcement but i live with my brother who would be able to let the pup out if godforbid an emergency on my end happens. I have a rotating schedule so my schedule is definitely flexible. Most of the time my days off fall on weekdays. I also have 3 day weekends where i am home most of the time. I work 6am to 2pm 5 days a week, then I am off for 2 days then my schedule flips to 2pm to 10pm 5 days a week with 3 days off. I am also able to drop in while working atleast once in the middle of the day. So your pup wouldn’t have to wait 8 hours to go outside. I have a decent sized fenced in yard, and also have 2 pups at home who are all friendly, trained, and crate trained if your pup wants alone time. I also live in a part of the house that allows your dog to roam freely without any other animals around.

“Seamus watched my two dogs for a week while I was away and I would not hesitate to recommend him or enlist him to watch our pets again. From the moment we met, I felt comfortable -- Seamus clearly loves animals and they love him. I received photos and updates for each visit with my pets every day, twice a day, and he checked in with me several times outside of any requirements. This was my first time using any service to take care of the boys and it worked out so well!”

About: I absolutely Live for animals. Since I was small I knew working with animals was my passion. They bring me an extreme amount of joy and love and I promise to love and treasure your pup like it is my own. Many think of their dogs as "just dogs", I believe there is something deeper and far more special between a relationship with a person and their pet. My dogs are my family and I adore them. I have had dogs growing up my entire life, and when I was old enough to live on my own I started to rescue and foster senior and disabled dogs. I currently have a blind Pekingese who I rescued a day before euthanasia who is the love of my life, and a one eyed terrier who I rescued after being hit by car. I deny No pet, and usually I am the go to person when friends or family need a dog sitter if they are going out of town. I have worked with Both the ASPCA and Dogs without Borders in Hollywood, CA. If your pet stays with me it will be treated like my own, if I do stop in visits for walks they will enjoy time at the park and being outside. I have experience with deaf dogs, blind, and 3 legged dogs. Dogs who have been on 3x a day medicine, overly friendly dogs and the scared, timid dogs.

About: Certified vet assistant and experienced kennel worker. My first job with dogs was at a fun little daycamp/boarding place called Camp Bow-Wow. I gained a lot of experience in handling and training. The enviroment I worked in was often filled with dogs running around a huge play yard, and it was my job to keep the peace (making sure they don’t fight, hump, or eat poop). During my time there I attended vet assistance courses at Bosces and earned a certification. I worked at an animal hospital in Oyster Bay, then in Woodbury. I’ll soon be leaving my current job (sanitation) to come back into the pet care business, which I enjoy far more. My schedule will open up tremendously by the 20th, until then I am readily available for afternoons. Im also good with cats, as long as they’re friendly!

About: Dogs have been part of my life for as long as I can remember, and I genuinely can’t imagine a home without animals in it! Today, my home is happily full with three dogs, a cat, and two little boys, so caring for others is pretty much second nature to me. Two of my dogs and my cat are rescues, which has also given me experience with animals who may need a little extra patience, reassurance, and time to feel comfortable. I’ve loved dogs of all breeds and sizes over the years—from Great Danes and English Bulldogs to Golden Retrievers—and I truly believe every dog has their own personality, quirks, and way of communicating what they need. I’m patient, attentive, affectionate, and always respectful of the routines and boundaries their families have established. As a pet parent myself, I also understand how much trust it takes to hand your dog’s leash over to someone else. I’ll treat your dog the way I would want someone to treat mine: with kindness, patience, attention, and lots of love. I originally joined Rover years ago simply because spending time with dogs sounded like the best job imaginable. All these years later, that really hasn’t changed. 🐾❤️ I currently work a hybrid schedule, which gives me plenty of flexibility for walks and drop-ins throughout the week. I especially love early morning and evening walks! As a lifelong dog owner with three dogs of my own, pet care is already a big part of my everyday routine. Your pet’s safety and comfort will always come first. I’ll follow your instructions and routines closely, keep dogs securely leashed on walks, and pay attention to their individual personality and needs. I’m also very respectful of clients’ homes and will treat both your pet and your space with the same care I’d want for my own.

About: Hello, I’m Raymonii or Ray. I’m a Toy Designer and Illustrator, and dog lover! I have always had a love for dogs and have watched some of my family and friends dogs for about 2 years and now have my own! I am ambivert. I love the outdoors, playing, and having energy to run and have a great time with mine and your pets. I have a backyard ready to play in and I also live 5 minutes from a trail. I value your pet’s safety and happiness like they are my children too! I work remotely at my house which is near a dog friendly trail and I have a spacious backyard. I am available currently seven days a week. I am very active and love walks as much as dogs do. I make lists for organization and I love playing with my dog to keep her tail wagging and put a smile on her face! I would love to do the same for another. As a dog owner myself I understand the value in having a safe, comfortable, and fun space for your beloved pet. I get it, leaving your pet with someone new can be daunting but I’m here to make sure to give you a peace of mind. I handle everything from food, water, and play time with caution as if it were my own baby (dog).

About: My first job was as a dog walker when I was 12! I have grown up with cats and dogs - caring for them from puppies/kittens through to their golden years. I have also dog/house sat for a large rescue + their several senior cats! My goal is to get to know each pet I interact with so that me and your pet can enjoy our time together. Furry friends are family and I treat them as such. I have also volunteered at 2 different rescues over the past several years helping care for cats as well as walk and play with dogs of all ages. I am currently finishing my last year of medical school so my schedule is not completely free. However, I do typically have evenings, weekends, and a random day off during the week! I get my current schedule 1 month at a time and am happy to accommodate outside my scheduled hospital shifts. I am very respectful of others rules for their home and their pets. I am a tidy person who hates messes in my own home so wouldn't leave them in anyone else's.

About: I have been around dogs for most of my life, having owned two dogs from ages 6-20, and I have since gained hands-on experience caring for pets with a wide range of personalities, ages and needs. I’ve pet sat for both cats and dogs, including caring for four cats and two dogs at once, managing litter boxes, wet and dry food routines, playtime and plenty of attention and affection. I also have experience administering oral medications and eye drops to dogs. One experience especially that sets me apart is caring for a Catahoula Leopard dog who was paralyzed in her hind legs, which involved expressing her bladder and assisting with her mobility alongside caring for another dog in the home. I’m comfortable with puppies as well, having provided drop-in care for a golden retriever at both 3 months and 6 months old, as well as extended dog and house sitting for a 2-year old golden retriever. Across my pet-sitting experience, I’ve provided regular walks, baths, light grooming, feeding, playtime and lots of one-on-one attention. I understand every pet has their own routine, personality, and level of care, and I’m comfortable providing everything from my everyday companionship to more hands-on care for pets with special needs. My current schedule is very flexible, as I am studying full-time for the MCAT and create my own study schedule each week. I attend MCAT prep classes on Sunday and Tuesday evenings, but outside of those times, I can easily plan my studying around your pet’s needs. This gives me flexibility for walks, drop-in visits, feeding schedules, playtime, and extended care throughout the week. I’m happy to work with each pet owner to maintain the routine that works best for their pet! I understand that trusting someone with both your pet and your home is a big responsibility. I have experience house sitting and pet sitting for many families, and I always treat each home with the same care and respect I would want someone to show my own. I carefully follow any instructions you provide regarding your pet’s routine, safety, feeding, medications, and household needs. My only request is to be shown where basic cleaning supplies are kept (accidents happen, and that’s completely normal!). I want you to come home to a space that is just as clean, if not cleaner, than when you left it, and most importantly, to a pet who has been safe, comfortable, and well cared for.

FAQs for Pet Sitting - West Gilgo Beach

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.

Before booking, confirm:

  • the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
  • the care instructions the sitter should follow;
  • which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
  • how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.

Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.

sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
