Sean took wonderful care of my dog, Stassi, and my home! I was out of the country for 3 weeks and he stayed at my home the whole time. He was very thorough in gathering information about my home and Stassi before I left and asked questions I didn't even think of. His communication was professional and consistent. He sent me messages regularly about what was going on at home and with Stassi and even sent several pictures. My home was clean and as I left it. Most importantly he cared for Stassi as his own. I couldn't ask for a better dog sitter! Thank you Sean!

She did everything we asked and we came home to a clean house and happy pets. It gave us a lot of peace of mind knowing everything was in such good hands :)

This is the second time Annabeth has watched our rescue pets. We have 5 so we know that can be a lot and all have unique personalities/needs so it is helpful to have hired someone who understands and can be patient with our pets. We see Annabeth as family.

this was our first time booking through rover. I was hesitant to trust a "stranger" with our dogs and in our house. also the investment in the dog sitting was a steep cost. but! IT WAS WORTH IT. I came home to happy dogs, clean house (our dogs have accidents) and updates along the way. one of our dogs is older and she was well taken care of based on her appearance coming home. Lux will be our regular sitter -if he will have us :) I highly recommend him!

I had Abigail come to my house to sit my 3 dogs while i was on vacation. She did great with my babies and took time to make them feel more comfortable with her. She even met with me beforehand to meet the dogs which put me more at ease with using her. Abigal is trustworthy and she was respectful of my belongings. She also brought in my packages and took up my garbage cans which was a huge help. I'll definitely use her services again in the future.

There is no one we trust more than Taylor on this app. The most recent time we used her services, our dog Churro unfortunately got sick right before he saw Taylor. She went above and beyond to make sure he is well taken care of during his sickness. He required more supervised care than normal and Taylor was there to help him get better, even though it meant she barely got any sleep a couple of nights. By the time we were able to return from our trip, he was already feeling better. Taylor put my dogs needs above hers and we are extremely grateful for her. Amazing as always and truly going above and beyond what was required.

About: I have dog sitted for close friends and work colleagues during graduate school. I am still new to dog sitting but I take direction very well and I am willing to learn new things and meet new people! I am currently a pharmacy resident and work mainly during the weekdays from 7am-5pm and work every other weekend starting this upcoming July. My availability for June is open during the afternoons and most early morning for weekdays and open on weekends! I make a point to follow instructions to a T, and if there are opportunities to go above and beyond, I will do so. If dog sitting, I make sure to give the utmost attention to your pet while also meeting your expectations. As for house sitting, I like to treat a home as if it were my own: tidy and organized.

About: Family and friends started asking me to take care of their pets when I was around 15 years old. Ever since, I've taken care of dogs and cats (even a few lizards!) for people all over my hometown. I've done simple tasks like going to someone's home to just let the dogs out to potty and feed them, all the way to staying at people's homes while they're away. When I was between jobs as a teenager, I briefly worked for a local company that took care of pets on the daily. I've taken care of puppies, small dogs, big dogs, senior dogs who need meds and extra patience, etc. I have a huge heart and am a very empathetic person, especially when it comes to animals of any kind. I have always had a dog or dogs in my family, but am currently pet-less so I'll have all my love to give for your furbabies! I am currently unemployed for the next two months until I go back to school at the beginning of August. I’m very flexible when it comes to time up until then. If you continue with me until that time, then we can talk about what pet care will look like for me after that time frame. I currently do not offer care in my own home, but am more than willing to do whatever you need in your home. Walks, lots of hang out time, more than happy to find the nearest dog park to you (if your pups like others), maybe trips to the store for treats if you’re cool with it! I will always respect your boundaries no matter what.

About: Hello! I have been caring for dogs since I was young where I grew up on a small rural farm. We have had all different kinds of breeds and sizes of dogs growing up! I love walking, playing, and caring for your animals and hope to help you when you need me! I am currently attending the University of Cincinnati this summer. While having class everyday, I only have a couple classes per day which leaves plenty of time for me to take care of your dogs! I am willing to work with the owners to figure out times that work best for everyone. Weekends will be my best availability for the entire day. I have experience walking all sized dogs and can attest to being successful in caring for other fur babies. I can follow any instructions given for the animal and whatever is needed for your pet!

We had a wonderful experience with Kat! She stayed at our home for a week and took great care of our two dogs. She was reliable, communicative, and clearly cared about making sure our pets were happy and comfortable while we were away. Kat went above and beyond when our Chukit broke during her stay. She even purchased a replacement so the dogs could continue enjoying one of their favorite activities. We came home to two happy, well cared for dogs. I will absolutely book with her again when we go out of town in the future.

This is our second time using Sean, and once again he exceeded every expectation. He truly treats our dogs like they’re his own, and it’s obvious how much he cares about them. We never have to worry while we’re away because he provides thoughtful updates and gives our pups so much love and attention. This trip was especially challenging because we had some issues with a kitchen renovation, but Sean was incredibly flexible, accommodating, and easy to work with through it. We always come home to happy dogs and a house that’s just as clean as when we left. Finding someone that is trustworthy and dependable is rare. We can’t recommend Sean enough and will use him for every trip we take.

Kristen was wonderful housesitting and caring for our senior dog whose food/med routine has gotten a bit complex in recent months. Would love to have her take care of Luna again!

Caroline is truly one of a kind. She watched my two cats again after a couple years, and they immediately remembered her — which says everything. She just gets them. Her updates were hilarious and detailed (like full-on storytime from the cats’ point of view) and honestly made my whole trip better. It’s so rare to find someone who treats your pets like their own, but that’s exactly what she does. She gave them the same love, attention, and cuddles I would — probably more. I never had to worry once. I came home to happy cats, a spotless house, clean sheets, and the feeling that my cats had just had the best little staycation ever. She’s thoughtful, dependable, funny, and just genuinely wonderful to work with. If you’re lucky enough to book her — do it. My cats (and I) absolutely adore her.

FAQs for House Sitting - Villa Hills

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Villa Hills on Rover is $100.1 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 1,330 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Villa Hills. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Villa Hills walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Villa Hills maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Villa Hills choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Villa Hills. On Rover:

  • 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
