“Katie is the best. I knew when I met her she was going to be great. Both my kitties had meds and she was able to administer them well. She sent pictures and kept me informed of all that was happening with the kitties. I highly recommend her.”

“Kristin did a great job communicating while she stayed at our home to watch our pup. She sent updates at a nice frequency, and my husband and I were able to enjoy our vacation knowing that our home and our dog were in great hands!”

“Victoria did a great job watching our two pups in our home. She provided regular updates on how they were doing, loved on them and was a great house guest as she left it spotless!”

About: I've grown up with cats and dogs my entire life and have always loved all kinds of animals—chickens, goats, dogs—you name it! (Yes, I’ve had all of them!) My family currently has three cats: Harry, Thomas, and Luke. We recently said goodbye to our pug, Cooper, after 15 wonderful years. Two Christmases ago, I brought home our current dog, Kyah, for my family. She’s a Great Pyrenees-Anatolian Shepherd mix and my favorite napping partner! I also taught her a few fun tricks—she can turn around, roll over, speak, and, of course, give a good shake. I have experience with animals of all sizes and personalities, and I’d love the chance to care for yours! I'm currently pursuing a bachelors in nursing. My class schedule takes place in the afternoon, and I have no other priorities besides classes and studying. I'm able to go for as many walks as your dog would like, and give endless scratches! They will never be left alone for more than 3.5 hours (at the most). I'm comfortable giving any medications that are needed. I sit for my Aunts two german shepherds who both receive oral medication, as well one of them receiving a specialized raw diet.
“Ryan was awesome! He was adamant about meeting my chihuahuas and giving updates often! He made sure that they were comfortable when some big storms moved through and was so considerate of being in our home. We are grateful and would use again.”
“I would recommend Karina to anyone. She’s everything you want to watch your dog, responsible, respectful, professional, and our dogs loved her. This was our fist time with Karina and will use her again no questions asked. Thank you Karina!”

About: Hi! I’m Isabelle, and if there’s an animal in the room, chances are you’ll find me hanging out with it. I’ve been an animal lover for as long as I can remember and genuinely enjoy spending time with pets of all kinds. Whether your dog loves long walks, playing fetch, belly rubs, or your cat prefers a quiet companion and some extra treats, I’m happy to provide the care and attention they deserve. I know every pet has their own personality, and I love getting to know what makes each one special. My goal is to make sure your pets feel safe, loved, and comfortable while you’re away and to give you peace of mind knowing they’re in good hands. I can’t wait to meet your furry family members and spoil them with lots of love and attention! I have a very flexible schedule and am able to accommodate a wide range of days and times, including weekdays, weekends, and last minute requests when needed. I’m happy to work around your schedule to make sure your pets get consistent, reliable care whenever you need it I care for pets by sticking closely to their normal routine so they feel safe and relaxed. This includes feeding them on schedule, making sure they get exercise and playtime, keeping their space clean, and giving them lots of love and attention. I always pay close attention to their behavior and needs so they stay happy and comfortable while their owners are away.
“Desiree did a great job! Our dog, Derby, seemed so happy with her! She sent lots of cute pics of Derby living her best life! House was very clean as well upon our return! We would definitely use Desiree again!❤️”

“Olivia was amazing. She was able to take care of our pets on short notice and was able to accommodate a quick meet and greet as well. She shared regular updates and truly went the extra mile in caring for our dog. Fantastic job and I would recommend her to anyone that needs pet care.”

“We could not have left our pup and our home in better hands. Deb was great with Jasper, and that's not an easy feat, as he is a big, rambunctious, and sometimes unpredictable guy. Our weekend away was stress free and we loved getting the photo updates from Deb. We are already dreaming of our next getaway, and Deb will be the first person we call to dog and house sit for us again.”

“Jenna was so wonderful with my Australian Shepherd Riley when I was on vacation for a week- I got lots of updates and she was willing to take the time to do a couple meet-ups beforehand to make sure both Riley and I were comfortable. I hate having to leave him, but I knew he was in great hands which made it a lot easier! She's definitely one of the best sitters Riley has had and I could tell he was so happy with her... I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone and will definitely be having her watch Riley again in the future. Thanks, Jenna!!!”

“Elaine took excellent care of our reactive pups! She watched them for 6 days shortly after we moved into a new house and handled the situation and their quirks like a pro. Will definitely contact her to watch them again in the future!”

About: I've grown up with both dogs and cats, so I've been around pets my entire life and have experience with a variety of personalities, energy levels, and behaviors. Caring for animals has always been a part of my daily life, and I've learned how important patience, consistency, and attention are to keeping pets happy and comfortable. I've also pet sat for friends and family on multiple occasions, and they continue to rely on me to care for their pets when they're away. Whether it's feeding, walking, playing, or simply keeping them company, I treat every pet as if they were my own. I also have a dog named Maylo, who has taught me even more about the responsibility and commitment that comes with being a pet owner. I understand how much pets mean to their families, and my goal is always to provide loving, dependable care so owners can have peace of mind while they're away. I currently work from home and I have plenty of time to come and spend time with your pups! I have a morning job on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 6am to 9am but the rest of the days I’m free :) I have a very flexible schedule and I’m always willing to accommodate what works for you and me :) I do not offer my home as a stay because I currently have a dog, and he doesn’t get along with other dogs but I’m happy to stay at the owners home! I always make sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved from the moment I arrive to their house, I understand that’s THEIR space and I’m a guest. I take care of them just like I would like my little Maylo (my dog) to be taken care of. I follow each pet's normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and any special instructions their owner provides. I know that every pet is different, so I take the time to understand their personality and needs. Whether your pet enjoys being active or prefers to cuddle and relax, I'll make sure they receive the care and affection they deserve while you're away.
“Alison was great! Our pets were well-loved and taken care of. She was responsive to our communication and check-ins. Our house was also in nice order when we returned and she left some home-made cupcakes to welcome us back.”

About: I have a dog of my own, MinnieBean. She is a Portuguese Water Dog and is a bundle of joy. She’s quite shy around hoomans but loves other dogs :). I have had 8 great years looking after 2 dogs from a family I work for, and other dogs in between. I will make sure to feed, play and take out your fur baby when needed and make their comfort and happiness my priority. I have also administered medication too if needed. I do require a meet and greet first to make sure my service will be a good fit for both of us. I also have a toddler, so if the service will be in my home, they need to be great around kids :). I have confidence that you will feel comfortable and happy in leaving your pet in my hands. I will always care for and be responsible for any pet, in or out of my home. Oh, and I always love some cuddles too :) I am a stay at home mum, so I will be available pretty much most of the time, however, I do require your dog is kid friendly. I can easily crate your dog if needed or leave them where you tell me to when finishing the service. I will make sure water is available also if needed.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Victoria
Elizabeth was an amazing dog sitter for our 12 year old Golden Retriever, Maggie! She was patient with her and communicated with me regularly during her stay at our house. Maggie was very well taken care of and happy when we returned! Many thanks to the time and attention that Elizabeth gave her!!

Trinity cared for my senior cat in my home for 5 days. During that time I received updates and photos - those photos showed my cat, Gertie, looking calm, content, and being silly. I felt relaxed and confident having Trinity at home watching over my cat who can, at times, be a challenge. On arrival home, my house was clean and my cat just fine. Would I have Trinity care for her again? Yes, without hesitation.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Victoria walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Victoria maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Victoria choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Victoria. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
