“We had a great introduction and walk. Our dog is afraid of new people, but with proper introduction (and the right treats) he warms up well. For this first walk we where present the whole time to make sure our dog’s comfort and confidence would open up. We wanted to find a Rover person who in future we could possibly board with. So we needed him to be happy and relaxed with the new Rover person. At first our dog was nervous and wary, which historically he usually is with new people. But after a bit time and space, yummy treats, and remaning a comfortable walking distance apart from Joshua, his curiousity grew enough where he was willing to approach. Josh got down to his level and which allowed our dog to approach Josh on his own will. When that moment happened we rewarded his curiousity with lots of praise and yummy treats. From then on we walked side by side with Joshua, and our dog warmed up enough where he was frequently looking back anticipating more pets and treats from Joshua during the walk.
