“Thank you so much for taking such great care of the cats! I really appreciated all the pictures and the thorough updates. It made it so much easier to relax knowing they were doing well. So glad to already have you booked again soon!”

“Don did an exceptional job with our bulldogs. When we arrived from our Vacation the dogs greeted us with no signs of anxiety along with being VERY CALM. We will rebook Don (if available) every time we are away. Thank you Don ❤️”

“Eric has taken care of my two dogs several times now and he has done an AMAZING job. One of my dogs is basically 100lbs of love and the other is 40lbs of energy. He handles both very well. He updates us every visit with pictures and they look pretty darn happy! Eric also has been incredible at taking my last minute appointments which makes him my dog whispering lifesaver.”

“Haley was so attentive and caring about my kittens and took wonderful care of them! She not only fed them carefully, but also spent focused play time together. I think my cats will miss her! I would definitely hire her again and recommend her to others.”

“Adina was great, took great care of our 7 year old dog and her our adopted 4 month puppy. Helped give attention and fresh air to our two dog when we were away. Definitely recommend Adina!”

About: My love for dogs started when I was just 8 years old, when my family welcomed our first dog into our home. Ever since, dogs have been a huge part of my life! As a dog mom myself, I know firsthand that our dogs aren't just pets. They're family. I live every day trying to give my own dog the happiest, healthiest, and most fulfilling life possible, and I would bring that same love, attention, and care to yours. Over the years, I've gained hands-on experience caring for dogs of all different breeds, sizes, ages, and personalities, from energetic puppies to sweet seniors who need a little extra patience and TLC. My experience includes dog walking, drop-in visits, and overnight care for dogs belonging to family and friends. Above all, your dog's safety, comfort, and happiness will always be my top priorities. I understand how important it is to trust someone with your best friend, and I don't take that responsibility lightly. I also believe trust goes both ways. It's just as important that your dog feels safe, comfortable, and happy with me as it is that you feel confident leaving them in my care. I've taken my own dog to training classes and understand the importance of patience, positive reinforcement, consistency, and respecting each dog's unique personality and needs. Whether your pup loves walks and adventures, playtime, or simply having someone nearby for companionship and cuddles, I'm happy to meet them where they are. I'd love the opportunity to get to know your dog, build a trusting relationship, and give them the same love and care I give my own! ❤️ As a dog mom myself, caring for a dog is already a big part of my everyday life! I love spending time outdoors, going for walks, and making sure dogs get the exercise, attention, and companionship they need. I genuinely enjoy spending time with dogs and look forward to making pet care an even bigger part of my routine! Your dog's safety, comfort, and happiness will always come first! I know how much trust it takes to leave your dog in someone else's care, and I take that responsibility very seriously. I believe every dog is unique, so I take the time to learn about their personality, routines, preferences, and any special needs. Whether we're going for a walk, enjoying playtime, or relaxing at home, I'll always prioritize making your dog feel safe, comfortable, and loved. I'm especially mindful of maintaining familiar routines, following feeding and medication instructions, using safe walking practices, and respecting each dog's physical abilities and energy levels. Having cared for dogs from puppies to seniors, I understand that some need extra patience, reassurance, or accommodations. When caring for your dog in your home, I'll treat your space with the same respect and care as my own. I'm also happy to provide updates and photos so you can feel confident knowing your best friend is in good hands.
“At first we were apprehensive about choosing a new individual to care for our pets. Our first interaction with Brady was that he was a typical uninterested young man who would be ok, but be nothing special. We couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised and wrong in our initial assessment. Our assumption that he was disinterested was really him easily and fully understanding our needs the first time we explained them. He only asked intentional and poinient questions to get exactly the information he needed to provide an exceptional service; he didn't need additional clarification which made us think, wrongly, he was not fully engaged. Don't let his approach and directness fool you; he is fully committed to the job at hand and able to accommodate your and your pets' needs. Brady was excellent with our dog and cat while we were away. He took extra time to play with them daily even though it wasn't required. He was also easily willing to check on the house, find a missing mail package, and ensure the dog (who has storm anxiety) was her usual self after a major storm. He was very responsive to texts through the app even at odd times of day. We appreciate his willingness to be flexible with our delayed and changing flights and his anticipation of our needs. We will definitely use his services again and recommend him to others.”

“Beth did a wonderful job at keeping an eye on my voluptuous cat while we were on vacation. I was a little nervous but I can see in my pets pictures she warmed up and is now familiar with Beth for future visits. She was well loved, fed and taken care of. Thanks Beth for everything.”

“Paige was great at taking care of my dog! He’s a larger shepherd, so he can be a handful - but she handled it without any issues. Would absolutely recommend. Very professional, on time and worked around some issues that came up with the booking.”

About: With four years of experience, I've developed a deep understanding of dog care. My hands-on work has taught me to handle a variety of breeds and temperaments, managing everything from feeding and medication to special routines. My own rescue dog has added a personal layer to my professional skills. It's taught me the empathy and patience needed to build trust, proving that my approach is rooted in genuine love and a true commitment to a dog's well-being. Caring for my own rescue dog has naturally woven pet care into the very fabric of my daily and weekly routine. It's not a chore; it's a structured part of my day that brings consistency to my life, and most importantly, to his. Daily Routine: Morning: The day starts with a walk and a feeding. This isn't just about meeting his basic needs; it's our time to bond, to get some fresh air, and to start the day with a positive routine. Throughout the day: Even when I'm working, I make sure to have dedicated breaks for play and mental stimulation. This could be a quick game of fetch, a puzzle feeder, or a brief training session to reinforce good behavior. These short bursts of attention prevent boredom and keep him happy. Evening: The day winds down with another walk, dinner, and some quiet time. This is often our cuddle time, where he gets a chance to relax and feel secure, which is especially important for a rescue. When a pet stays with me, they become a temporary member of my family. My focus is on providing a safe, comfortable, and enriching environment that minimizes the stress of being away from home. A "Home Away from Home": I provide a structured but loving environment, mirroring a typical household. My home is completely pet-proofed, with a secure backyard for safe play and potty breaks. Consistency is Key: I work with the owner to maintain the pet's regular schedule for feeding, medication, and sleep. I have a dedicated space for each dog's belongings (food, toys, bed) to help them feel at ease.

“Kathrine was fantastic! She came out for a meet and greet prior to the booking and immediately hit it off with our dog. She was professional and customer friendly start to finish. We will definitely use her services again in the future. Thanks Kathrine!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Upper Uwchlan
Himal was amazing with my two pretty untrained medium-sized dogs who are wholly unused to having a sitter and very attached to me. She watched them upstairs in my house while I hosted a large party downstairs. She was incredibly patient with them and clearly was closely observing their behaviors and changes over time throughout the time the party lasted, learning what worked for them and analyzing why. I can see now that it was a very challenging assignment because they dogs knew I was in the house; nevertheless, she made the very best of it and when I went upstairs to check on everyone at one point, I was very impressed to see the one who is most wary of people-who-are-not-me lying on the bed accepting pets as Himal sat next to her. Himal is exceptionally thoughtful and kind and I highly recommend her!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
