“Chelsea was lovely. She was cheerful and friendly and we knew that Bluey would be well looked after and have a good time. We would definitely recommend Chelsea and would gladly have her look after Bluey in the future.”

“I couldn’t have asked for a better couple to look after my Hudson. Sarah is a very competent and professional person and I must say that when I left Hudson with her I did so with complete confidence. I received daily updates and could see Hudson was having plenty of exercise and when home, cuddles in front of the cosy wood burning stove and Aga . At the end of the stay I picked up a very relaxed and happy Hudson who settled in back home perfectly. All in all Sarah offers a superb, clean , safe, home from home for dogs to stay in a wonderful countryside setting.”

“I would absolutely recommend booking with Monica. Communication was great, with updates and photos. I felt very comfortable leaving Murphy as from our initial meeting I knew Murphy was going to get lots of care and attention. I would definitely book again when needed.”

“This is the first time I have used Rover and I must say it’s a very positive experience. Kirsteen agreed to look after my two dogs for 6 days/nights, she was very a very warm, welcoming host, we went for a short walk on the drop off day so it made the handover very smooth. I received photos and a message or two most days and when I picked them up there was waggy tails and happy faces all round 🙂🐶🐶 All in all, I would highly recommend Kirsteen to look after your dogs and I would very happily leave my dogs with Kirsteen again and will do in the future.”

“Tom looked after Enola (our 18 month old flat coat retriever) and she had a great time. Tom was super flexible and kept us informed about our dog happiness with overwhelming us with information! We were able to kick back and enjoy a local festival (that did not allow dogs)!!”

“A lovely time! Excellent care. Very happy dogs. Sarah, Christian & their sweet dog Bella gave our two such a welcome. A real holiday for them both, with plenty of updates of their daily adventures. Plenty of exercise to keep our energetic spaniels content and a warmth from the family that was palpable. Thank you for such care.”

“We recently booked our Cockerpoo, Max with Jill for 1 night to see how it went as he does have a bit of separation anxiety. When we left he did bark and whine for a while, but Jill comforted him with lots of cuddles, and he settled. We have already booked him in again as we also feel extremely comfortable with Max being with Jill. It's a home away from home She is great.”

“Words can’t say how happy I was with Chester’s care. It truly was home from home. I could see that he was treated as one of the family including the children. I liked that he could cuddle on the sofa in the evening with Jodie as he does with me at home and he had the freedom of the house. I would 100% recommend her. fabulous family environment”

“Lipa was so well cared for. She's old and has specific issues but Laura was very understanding, caring and Lipa loved her time with Laura. Laura completely fulfills the individual dogs' needs. Would highly recommend ans will book again.”

“Lubomira spoilt my Maya rotten! I was showered with photos and videos the whole time I was away to keep me at ease and let me know what she was up to! Maya thoroughly enjoyed her stay. I have already rebooked!! Thank you very much for looking after my fur baby so well :)”

“Megan was absolutely wonderful with BoBo! Our miniature Dachshund can be quite a nervous soul in new places, but Megan’s patient approach meant he settled in no time. She followed every instruction perfectly and the frequent photo updates were such a lovely touch that kept us totally stress-free. We picked up a very happy pup and will definitely be booking Megan again!”

About: Animals have always been part of my life. Growing up, we always had dogs and other pets, and caring for animals has come naturally to me from a young age. For the last 10 years, our family shared our home with our much-loved French Bulldog, Woody. We recently lost him very suddenly, which left a huge hole in our hearts. While no dog could ever replace Woody, we're looking forward to opening our home to other dogs and giving them the same love, care and attention that he enjoyed. I've also regularly looked after friends' dogs, including a lovely Labrador who I cared for well into his senior years. This has given me experience with different personalities, routines and needs. My husband, Laszlo, is my additional caretaker and shares my love of dogs. Between us, there's usually someone at home to provide company, care and plenty of attention for our furry guests. What makes us different is that we only welcome dogs from one household at a time. Your dog will enjoy a relaxed family environment, a secure garden, walks to the nearby park, plenty of company and, if they're used to it, lots of sofa cuddles too! Dogs fit naturally into our family life. I work part-time weekdays (9am–1pm) and my husband works nights, so there's usually someone at home to keep your dog company. We live just a couple of minutes from the park, making it easy to fit walks, playtime and plenty of attention into every day. I care for every dog as if they were my own. Dogs staying with us become part of the family and are welcome to relax on the sofa, enjoy time in our secure garden, and join us for walks and play. I like to stick to each dog's usual routine as closely as possible, including feeding times, walks, sleeping arrangements and any special requirements. My goal is for owners to enjoy their time away knowing their dog is safe, happy and loved.
“Really happy with the care Gandalf had while we were away. We got regular photos, videos, texts and voice updates which was reassuring. He seemed settled and well looked after throughout. And he didn’t not pick up any bad habits. Thanks again for taking good care of him!”

About: 50 years of caring for and loving animals. We will take great care of elderly dogs who might be lacking in confidence and need extra emotional and physical support. We are home all day every day and garden outside with the dogs’ help! They are also walked every day before retiring in front of the woodburner! Our 1 acre garden is securely fenced in a quiet location and we have 3 very friendly bitches of our own who love to socialise!
“Vanessa was fantastic from the first very prompt communication, to the amazing updates every day letting me know that my dog was happy and well cared for whilst i was away. I cannot recommend Vanessa enough, she made a very anxious owner feel very assured my dog was cared for as part of the family. Will definitely use again.”

“Gitana and her family are simply wonderful! From the clear and quick communication when arranging the sit, to the warm and reassuring drop off, to the frequent pictures and messages during the sit, and the full handover on collection, I couldn't have asked for a better experience of leaving Arlo with sitters for the weekend. I'll absolutely be requesting to book Gitana again in the future - thank you! X”

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming

- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in East of England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
