Karis got back to me with my last minute request to look after Elsa. She was so lovely and Elsa immediately loved her which made it easier to leave her home.

Kat is brilliant with Castle. He loves the games when Kat is with him - sniff search games, tug - and he gets time in the garden to do what he needs to do. Settles quickly after a visit into snoozing for the afternoon.

Sophie was such a good walker and carer of my dog Wren. I visited the area and went out for a hike which would have been too strenuous for Wren. Sophie travelled to our accommodation, walked, played, stimulated and settled Wren. Sophie provided photo and video updates throughout her time with Wren. I returned home to a content and calm dog. I couldn’t have asked for anymore. I will definitely use Sophie’s services if I find myself in the same position again in the future. Thanks again!

About: Have owned cats for 25 years, and now have a wonderful Lurcher who has been in my life for 3 years now. I also have loaned horses for many years. I am available for dog walks and pet visits on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. SHort notice visits are usually ok, please contact me with your queries! :) I can offer dog walks from your property - ie. I wouldn't be driving your dog to the start of the walk. I am also happy to do home visits.

About: I’ve been around dogs my whole life and can’t imagine life without them! I grew up with an amazing family rescue dog from the age of 10, who I cared for until he passed away just 11 months ago. Since then, I’ve had the joy of dog sitting two pups (a small Cavapoo and a large Weimaraner–Vizsla mix) starting when they were 8 and 5 months old. Over the past 9 months, I’ve helped both of them grow into well-mannered, happy dogs. I’ve focused especially on training with the Cavapoo due to having her more regularly, teaching her fun tricks along with key commands like “leave it,” “wait,” and some recall. I’ve also learned to be patient, consistent, and calm with boisterous, high energy puppies, making sure they get plenty of play, attention, and gentle guidance. Whether it’s a small lap dog or a big energetic breed, I love getting to know each pup’s unique personality and making sure they feel safe, happy, and loved while their owners are away. I am currently working full time as a degree apprentice, however I work from home 1-2 days of the week. On working from home days I am happy to do local drop-ins during my lunch hour. I’m also available to do drop-ins/walks after work every day of the week, and weekends. I always make sure pets are safe, supervised, and comfortable in my care. My home has a long garden that’s great for playtime and will be fully secured before hosting any dogs. Inside, pets have plenty of space to relax and I keep their environment calm and clean. When caring for pets in their own home, I follow each owner’s routine closely and make sure doors, gates, and leashes are checked for safety every time.

Jessica was fantastic. The cat was really well looked after and even became friendly towards her, quite unusual. Everything was left tidily to come home to. Thanks very much.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Yes, absolutely! Many sitters on Rover are experienced in caring for multiple pets simultaneously, whether you have a pack of dogs, a clowder of cats, or a mix of both.

Look for sitters who highlight multi-pet expertise or check for verified reviews from other Allerdale pet parents with similar pet households.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Allerdale choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a key safe. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalised codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in a flat, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or lift etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a qualified vet or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s booking protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
