About: For me, caring for animals is a lifelong calling that started at age 10. My deep involvement with nature has shaped my consciousness to view animals as living beings who deserve the same respect and care that humans do. This philosophy drives my approach as a sitter, whether I am implementing structured house-training routines for young dogs and kittens or managing the specialized needs of senior animals. I truly believe humanity's history is deeply intertwined with learning from and adapting to the animal world. I bring that foundational respect into your home, ensuring your pets feel completely understood, safe, and loved according to their unique personalities and attentiveness they deserve as living, feeling members of your family. I work full time with Lyft so I will have plenty of time to entertain your pup, dog, kitten or cat. Lets us have fun I'm in their world. I treat your home with the utmost respect and keep your pet's environment safe, predictable, and clean. To build trust, I strictly follow your specific instructions regarding feeding, locking up, and household boundaries. I thoroughly scan spaces for hidden hazards like loose cords or choking risks before letting pets roam. During our time together, I mirror their established daily routines to minimize stress and keep them feeling secure. I also send regular photo updates and transparent messages so you always know your pet is safe, happy, and thriving.

Mia is so incredible. My poor baby was having an incredibly rough time adjusting to me being gone. It was our first time apart since we lost my mom, her go-to baby sitter. She started to get sick just about everyday. Mia was so patient and kind. She cleaned up so many messes, poor thing. But my baby began to adjust, and perk up. Mia made her feel safe and loved through the transition. I knew my baby was in good hands but Mia blew me away. She’s such a gem and I am so grateful for her

Elisa was lovely! Easy to communicate with and very clearly loves dogs. She took very good care of our 3 month old puppy and our 6 year old German Shepherd, so she is well versed in dogs big and small. She sent lots of photos and I could tell my girls were happy and comfortable with her. We will absolutely ask Elisa back!

About: Hi! My name is Maranda, and I’m a huge animal lover currently studying veterinary technology. I also have prior experience with animal welfare where I care for pets daily and help make sure they feel comfortable, safe, and loved while away from home. I have experience caring for dogs and cats of different ages, sizes, and personalities, and I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and getting to know each pet individually. Whether your pet needs playtime, walks, medication schedules, extra patience, or just lots of attention and cuddles, I’m happy to provide personalized care. My veterinary studies and hands-on experience working with animals have helped me become comfortable recognizing normal behavior, following care instructions carefully, and staying calm in different situations. I also have experience with feeding routines, cleaning, basic grooming, and handling anxious or energetic pets. I know pets are family, and I’ll always treat your pets with the same love and care I would want for my own. I’d love the opportunity to care for your furry family members and give you peace of mind while you’re away! I am a college student at Sinclair so my schedule is: evening classes Monday/Wednesday and morning/afternoon classes on Tuesday/Thursday which still allows me plenty of time to provide reliable pet care, walks, drop-ins, and attention throughout the week. At home, I care for my dog by making sure she is safe, comfortable, well-fed, exercised, and given lots of attention and love. I help care for dogs and cats by monitoring behavior, cleaning, feeding, supervising playtime, and making sure pets feel safe and comfortable while away from home.

Brandon was a great house and dog sitter for the weekend. He was respectful and reliable. Communication was open and he was always quick to reply. Our dog can be male reactive as well but Brandon took his time and had patience when getting to know him. Absolutely would recommend and will use for his service again.

About: Hi! I’m Haley, and I’ve had a love for dogs for as long as I can remember. I’ve been caring for dogs since I was 12 years old, and for the past 2 years I’ve had the privilege of working as a professional dog groomer. Every day, I get to build trust with dogs of all breeds, sizes, ages, and personalities—from playful puppies to sweet seniors and even nervous or anxious pups. Being a groomer has taught me so much about canine behavior, patience, and creating a calm, positive environment where every dog feels safe and loved. I know that every pet is unique, and I take the time to earn their trust while making sure they’re happy, comfortable, and well cared for. I understand that leaving your furry family member with someone else can be difficult. That’s why I promise to care for your pet the same way I would my own—with kindness, patience, lots of love, and plenty of belly rubs, playtime, and cuddles. Whether we’re going for a walk, playing fetch, or simply relaxing together, my goal is to make sure your pet feels right at home until you’re back. I can’t wait to meet you and your best friend! 🤍🐾 Pet care is my priority, and I keep a flexible schedule that allows me to give each pet the time and attention they deserve. Because I work independently, I’m able to accommodate morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend visits whenever possible. Whether your pet needs a quick potty break, a long walk, or extra love and companionship while you’re away, I’ll do my best to work around your schedule and provide dependable, consistent care. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness will always come first. Since I provide care in your home, I do everything I can to keep your pet’s routine as normal and stress-free as possible. I’ll carefully follow your feeding schedule, walking routine, medication instructions, and any special requests to make sure your pet feels safe and loved while you’re away. As a professional dog groomer, I’m experienced with dogs of all breeds, sizes, ages, and personalities. I understand canine body language and know how to safely handle nervous, energetic, shy, or senior dogs with patience and kindness. I’ll also keep you updated with plenty of photos and messages, so you can relax knowing your furry family member is in caring, trustworthy hands. 🤍🐾

Danni has the sweetest spirt and immediately took to our Gracie Gracie Girl and Indie Boy. She was happy to stay with our Gracie for the day (we SO appreciate that!). When we are gone, Gracie won't eat or go outside (she gets depressed). Imagine our joy and surprise when Danni let us know that Gracie ate all of her dinner and went outside for her!! Danni sent photos and kept us apprised of how the day was going. She has great respect for our home and our wishes for Gracie and we would highly recommend her. Thank you Danni!

About: I have always cared for my friends animals when they are traveling and I also have had my cat Nola for 5 years. I’m also familiar with animals having anxiety and how to care for them by creating a routine that’s safe and fun. I have an open schedule currently so I’m open to flexibility during the day and some afternoons. I’m on break from my Masters program so my time is pretty open. I would make sure that any special needs your sweet baby needs is taken care of with extreme amount of love and care. I understand how important it is to be gentle especially when meeting new pets who might have anxiety.

Emma is amazing as always, she's the perfect fit for our dog and we're so glad we found her! This go around she even helped out with some of our new guinea pig additions to the household! Could not ask for anything more. Having the piece of mind that our dog is comfortable, being loved on and having the time of her life going on all the walks her little heart desires is simply priceless.

FAQs for House Sitting - Trotwood

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 708 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Trotwood. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Trotwood walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Trotwood maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Trotwood choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Trotwood. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
