“My pets love Derrick! I loved getting the picture updates and hearing how they were doing. I was able to have such a great vacation knowing they were so well taken care of!!! Thank you Derrick & Laura!!!”

About: I’ve had pets most of the time myself. At one point I was the proud owner of two dogs and two cats. Three pets traveled internationally with us when we moved ( can’t leave fam behind). I could check on pets before going to work; during lunch hour, or after work and throughout the evenings. During the weekends as well! I love walking the doggies! I have a fenced in yard. I have reliable transportation to and from your home as well. I have a dog at home who loves to play.

“Brooke is the absolute best!! We traveled to Springfield from the East Coast with our older lab/boxer mix, Charlotte, and needed someone to stay with her in our hotel room for 5 hours while we were away. Charlotte was completely comfortable with her and we were able to enjoy our time out without worrying about her care. Having a trained vet tech watch her made us at ease in using a complete stranger, and once we met her we knew for sure that things would go well. I could not have chosen a better person to stay with our cherished pet! Whenever we return to Springfield, she will be our #1 choice.”
“Shannon did a FANTASTIC job taking care of my babies. Tons of pictures and updates! She took them for so many walks. They were spoiled!! I was able to enjoy my trip without worrying about them! Highly recommend!!!”

“Vernita was great. The only reason I gave her 5 stars is because there are not 6. She took great care of our temperamental, but sweet HUGE dog. (150 lbs Cane Corso) Our dog loves Vernita. Our home loves Vernita. We love Vernita. Use her once, you will never want anyone else again. She is the best.”
“Mary Ann did an outstanding job caring for our cats. She spent quality time with them, provided frequent updates, and sent plenty of photos throughout our time away, which gave us great peace of mind. When we returned home, it was obvious our cats had been genuinely loved and well cared for—not simply fed and left alone. They were happy, relaxed, and clearly received the attention and affection they needed. I highly recommend Mary Ann to anyone looking for a pet sitter who will care for their pets with the same love, dedication, and attention that an owner would.”

About: I am an instant animal magnet and have lots of love to give. I cared for my own for 13 years. Pets are truly family. I work full time from home and can balance your pet’s care and routines during the week. I can provide full time care on weekends. I will love and care for your pet(s) as if my own. Feeding and activity routines will be maintained to assure feeling safe and calm.
“Lisa was a fabulous caregiver for my cat, Rizzo! She is a loving and caring person and went above and beyond the perimeters of our engagement and spent extra time with him, bought him toys, and watched over my house and watered flowers too in my absence. I highly recommend her for any pet care or house sitting or both.”

“Very kind, trustworthy attentive and took good care of my spoiled labs. Highly recommend. She stayed overnight with my 2 large labs and did drop in visits during the day. Very glad I chose her. Dogs love her”

About: 🐾 Labor Day bookings are still available! 🐾 We’ve been hugging dogs since we were kids, and we’d love to hug yours! Penny, Ciel, and our family enjoy hosting furry friends - we take care of them and our pups play hard with them! Please note: *We cannot currently accept bookings for unneutered/intact male pups *We host a large, rambunctious group of pups throughout the week - small pups and those who prefer quiet, calm environments may not have an enjoyable experience here, and we will happily recommend sitters who may be a better fit for your family Hosting pups is our full-time job - your pups become part of our family while they’re here! We spend our days with our guests, playing and chatting with them, and can attend to everyone’s needs regularly throughout the day. Our 24/7 dedication to giving your pups the best experience while away from your home makes us a great choice for day care and socialization opportunities! We accept bookings between 7am and 7pm; we will consider bookings outside these hours on a case by case basis, potentially for an additional cost. Our availability for picking up and dropping off is limited but we aim to be as flexible as possible. Reach out with your needs and we’ll work out an arrangement that works best for all of us! Our entire yard is fenced in - there’s room to run full speed! We can adjust feeding schedules as needed to accommodate your dog’s diet. In good weather, pups are free to go inside and outside at their leisure. We don’t require pups to use crates while we’re gone or overnight, but if you prefer your pup be crated at any time, we’re happy to do that and have multiple available. Male pups will wear a belly band for the first 24 hours of their stay, at minimum - this soft, absorbent band fits around their belly and attaches with Velcro on their back. Belly bands reduce marking behavior, especially in unneutered males. You may bring your own, but we can supply them, free of charge. Using belly bands keeps our home calmer, cleaner, and fresher by eliminating marking behavior and reduces anxiety for future pups by giving them less reason to want to mark over the scent of previous pups. We have indoor and outdoor security cameras in many locations that can be helpful to review if any safety situations arise. The safety of all of our pups is very important to us! (They’re also great for catching fun footage!)
About: I’ve loved animals my whole life and enjoy spending time with dogs of all sizes and personalities. I’m reliable, patient, and will treat your pet like they’re part of my own family. Whether your dog needs walks, playtime, feeding, medication reminders, or just lots of love and attention, I’ll make sure they feel safe, happy, and comfortable while you’re away. I know how important it is to trust someone with your pet, and I’ll provide updates and photos so you can have peace of mind. I work part-time and attend cosmetology school, but I keep my schedule organized so I can provide reliable pet care. I’m available for drop-in visits, walks, and pet sitting around my work and school hours, and I’ll always make sure your pet gets the attention, exercise, and care they deserve. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I’ll follow your pet’s routine, feeding schedule, medications (if needed), and any special instructions exactly as requested. I understand that every pet is different, and I’ll treat your home with respect while making sure your pet feels safe, loved, and well cared for.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Toronto walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Toronto maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Toronto choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
