“Sandra has a beautiful soul. She took such good care of my babies. She sent me pictures of them made into these lovely collages that I know took time and care to create. I rebooked her for my next trip already!”

“Emma stayed at our home and took care of all 4 of our dogs for the week. We had 1 emergency with our oldest dog and she handled it just like we requested. We highly recommend Emma for house sitting with multiple dogs.”

“Rebecca was a delight. She arrived on time and sent many photos of our dog, Kita, during her stay. She frequently updated us on how Kita was doing while we were away and gave Kita lots of play time outside and I inside. Great experience. 10/10 Would book again with her!”

“I highly recommend Olivia! She is incredibly friendly, reliable, and easy to work with. Communication was excellent from start to finish; she kept me updated regularly and was always quick to respond to any questions or concerns. Most importantly, she was loving, attentive, and genuinely cared for my dogs as if they were her own. It gave great peace of mind knowing they were receiving so much affection, attention, and care while I was away. My dogs were happy, comfortable, and well cared for when I returned. Again I would recommend Olivia to anyone looking for a trustworthy and compassionate pet sitter.”

“Found Rosemary to be very reliable in taking care of our pets. She was attentive to our instructions and flexible to unexpected changes. She kept us informed and updated. We really appreciate not having to stress knowing the pets were being taken very good care of while we were away.”

“Angie watched our dog and house-sat while we were on a 9-night cruise. She did a fantastic job. It was so nice knowing that Faith was being well cared for. Peace of mind when you are in the middle of the ocean is priceless. She also took good care of our home and left it clean. We have used Angie before and will continue to use her services.”

“Allison was so sweet and kind-hearted! I was so nervous leaving my kitties and she helped so much! She was extremely accommodating and went above and beyond. I will definitely use her the next time I’m out of town!!”

About: I've grown up with dogs and cats my entire life and have experience caring for pets of all ages, from playful puppies to senior dogs. I'm patient, attentive, and always focused on each pet's individual needs and routine. I'm comfortable following detailed care instructions, administering oral medications, reinforcing basic training, and providing plenty of exercise, playtime, and affection. My goal is to make your pet feel safe, loved, and comfortable while giving you peace of mind that they're in caring, reliable hands. I currently work remotely, which gives me the flexibility to provide dependable care for your pets. On weekdays, I'm available for morning walks between 5:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., and I can stop by after work between 4:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. for walks, potty breaks, playtime, feeding, cuddles, or whatever your pup needs. On weekends, I have open availability and can accommodate visits throughout the day. I also offer overnight and extended house sitting for vacations or longer trips, so your pets can stay comfortable in their own home while receiving the love, attention, and care they deserve. Whether you need care for a day, a weekend, or an extended vacation, I'm happy to help! I will care for your pet the way you know is best! Every dog has a unique personality, routine, and preferences, and I'm committed to following the schedule that keeps your pup happy and comfortable. Whether it's meal times, walks, playtime, or naps, I'll stick to the routine you provide. I'll make sure your dog has their favorite toys, plenty of love and attention, and healthy treats (with your approval, of course). Your pet's safety, happiness, and well-being are always my top priorities. I also believe it's important for your furry friend to feel comfortable with me. I'd love the opportunity to get to know your dog before sitting so we can build trust and help them feel relaxed while you're away. You can have peace of mind knowing your pet will be cared for as if they were my own.
“Stacey took wonderful care of our senior Boxer, Jingles, while we were away on an international trip. From the moment we met her, we knew Jingles would be in caring and capable hands. Jingles is an older dog with some special needs, including frequent potty breaks and a few age-related quirks, and Stacey handled everything with patience, kindness, and genuine affection. She kept us updated, gave us great peace of mind while we were traveling, and treated Jingles like she was her own. The biggest compliment I can give is that when we got home, Jingles spent the evening and the next morning walking around the house looking for Stacey. It's obvious they formed a special bond during the week, and that says everything about the love and attention Stacey gave her. We are incredibly grateful for the wonderful care Stacey provided and would not hesitate to book her again. If you're looking for someone who will truly care for your pet, I highly recommend Stacey.”

“Christie accommodated our last minute request to care for our precious Stella. Christie also administered Stella’s medication, and Stella is feeling so much better now thanks to her care. Thank you, Christie, for taking such wonderful care of Stella!”

“Cathy is wonderful! My dog can be a handful but she was so sweet and kind with him. She sent several pictures and updates throughout the day. We came home to a happy doggy and two happy kitties. She’s definitely going to be our go to!”

“Kiera was responsive and took great care of our dogs while we were away. Even when they got into stuff, she cleaned up after them and took great care of the house and doggies. We would definitely book her again!”

“Vonna was amazing. She kept me updated on her schedule, showed up when she said she would, and even tracked my flight to make sure my dog was safe in case I got delayed. She was so professional and well-prepared for anything. I really appreciated how thoughtful she was in letting me know how my dog was doing while I was away. I came home to a happy pup and a clean house. I highly recommend Vonna and will definitely be reaching out to her again for future trips.”

About: I grew up around dogs, all types of behaviors I have witnessed and handled. I’ve also handle 3 liters of puppies during my early adulthood including taking care of the mother and the pups while properly feeding them. From there, I would keep your dog’s needs at priority! Whether it’s feeding, walking or entertaining. I currently do not have roommates so any size is welcome! I currently work full time, yet I work from home Monday and Friday so I can keep an extra eye on your pup while taking breaks in between to ensure a walk and feeding. I’m also open on weekends! I live near 3 parks! If your pet is comfortable, I’ll be happy to take them there! I live in a quieter neighborhood and will have plenty of toys to share.
“Giselle is an amazing Rover! We’ve used her several times and have always had a great experience. Our pup, Willow, gets so excited to see Giselle; she takes Willow on walks in our neighborhood (as observed by all our neighbors), sends pictures of Willow when she housesits, and most importantly is attentive to and plays with Willow which allows me to enjoy time away without worry. We couldn’t be happier with her! Thank you, Giselle!”

Hannah was exactly what we needed. We were gone for 2 weeks and she took amazing care of our home and fur babies. Left our place in great shape and sent us updates and pictures while we were gone. She is very kind and professional. I will definitely book with her again! If you want someone trustworthy and no stress or worry while you are gone, contact Hannah!

Allison was absolutely wonderful! I had never done house sitting before and felt a little hesitant but Allison willingly spoke with me on the phone before we officially booked and I could tell right away that she was sweet, professional, and would take excellent care of my fur babies. Allison was a great communicator and very respectful of our home (she even emptied the trash on her last day!) We received photo updates regularly and she even took our pup out for a pup cup! I am thrilled with this experience and will definitely be booking Allison again. She is completely competent, trustworthy, and just a genuine person.

Emily stayed with our two puppies for five days and four nights. She cared for them almost as much as me and their daddy did. I say almost because no one can give them the same love a pet parent does, lol. She stayed in constant contact with us so we were aware of what was happening throughout the day. We will definitely be requesting Emily's services again! Thank you!!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 3,840 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Sydney. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sydney walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sydney maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sydney choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Sydney. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
